This is an AMAZING ORIGINAL 1967 Volkswagen Deluxe Bug. I acquired this little car from the original owner's estate. It had one re-spray in its original desirable Zenith Blue sometime in the 1980s. The paint is not perfect but has a real nice patina to it. It still has its original sapphire radio. It runs and drives good as it just recently came out of hibernation and had a light servicing. The bug has always been garaged and driven on sunny days, hence the condition on the body. Beetles like this don’t come around very often, if ever. It has a 1600cc dual port engine with a 4 speed manual transmission that performs nicely. The floors, frame, and body are solid as a rock. The battery area was repaired many years ago and rock solid. Please keep in mind it's over 40 years old and un-restored.

This is one of the nicer original, un-restored 1967 Deluxe Bugs existing today. This survivor was originally owned by a family near San Francisco who always garaged it and took excellent care of the bug from day one. As you can see by the pictures, it is incredibly well preserved. The body is in excellent original condition, super dry, very straight, and only has some minor dings and scratches which gives it a nice patina considering this 1967 Beetle is already 40 plus years old it's in real nice un-restored condition. The black interior is all complete and tidy and the headliner is nice for its age. The car has a minor exhaust leak and will need some fine tuning to be perfect; this is to be expected with any vintage car. Please note, the black and yellow plate is for display purposes only and doesn’t come with the car.

It is tough to find early beetles in this kind of original condition, especially in  regards to the original sheet metal and one that's never been hit. Still has its original owner's manual as well :)

Don’t miss your opportunity to own this NEAT little car. I’m listing it for no reserve so the high bidder wins the bug! I just got the bug registered, YES it has a CLEAR CA title on its way from the DMV. Please feel free to ask any further questions, thanks.

VW Beetle R is one mean bug

Wed, 02 Oct 2013

Volkswagen's R lineup currently consists of the Golf R in North America, and the too-cool-for-school Scirocco R in Europe. It hasn't exactly been a secret as to which VW would next get the R treatment; the German manufacturer reportedly confirmed that a hotter Beetle would be coming to the US. That announcement, in August 2011, was followed up by a production-ready Beetle R Concept at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show.
After some wait, we're finally seeing spy shots of the Beetle R in Germany. The mule shown in the images here is wearing the R-Line bodykit, which adds sportier front and rear fascias, side skirts, dual exhausts and a not-so-subtle spoiler. Topped off with Volkswagen's traditional, five-spoke R wheels, we'd be just fine with the Beetle R coming to market as is.
Our spy photographer, though, seems to think that the production R will get even sportier sheetmetal, which we take to mean the more assertive look shown on the Frankfurt show car. Larger intakes on the front fascia, a bigger rear spoiler and vertical vents on the rear bumper could all be upcoming. Whether a production model will include the concept's polished wheels (R cars haven't traditionally embraced that look), vented hood and the quad-tipped exhausts remains to be seen.

2014 Volkswagen Beetle GSR is black and yellow, black and yellow

Thu, 07 Feb 2013

Way back in 1973, Volkswagen decided it was high time to take the loveable air-cooled Bug racing. No, it wasn't painted in Herbie colors - Volkswagen called its sport-tuned machine the Beetle GSR, "Gelb Schwarzer Renner" or "Yellow Black Racer." Hence, the somewhat shocking paint scheme.
VW is bringing its sporty black and yellow Beetle back for 2014, and you can see live photos of it above. It's got a 210-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine under the hood (that'd be the hood up front, unlike the car's forebear), and a six-speed manual or DSG automatic transmission sends those ponies to the front wheels. Note that this car's output is up 10 horses on other turbo VWs, and the Jetta GLI and Beetle Turbo for 2013. The 0-60 run takes 6.6 seconds, and top speed is limited to 130 miles per hour.
Besides the in-your-face black and yellow paint, the GSR is outfitted with a large rear spoiler and 19-inch wheels shod with 235/40 tires. The bee-like hue carries over inside, with yellow stitching on black leather. Only 3,500 will be produced, each with its own unique plaque. Pricing has not yet been announced, but you're free to read through the press release below all the same.

TN politicians may push to end VW incentives if plant goes union

Tue, 11 Feb 2014

Volkswagen's Chattanooga Assembly Plant is scheduled to vote on whether to unionize in the coming days, but Tennessee state lawmakers are threatening to deny future tax subsidies to the factory, if the vote is successful. The factory is currently the only Volkswagen plant worldwide that is not unionized.
The states's Republican lawmakers have been particularly vocal against the union vote. Tennessee state senator Bo Watson said during a press conference that VW would have a "very tough time" with future incentives if the vote were successful, according to Automotive News. Tennessee House Majority Leader Gerald McCormick said the "heavy hand" of the UAW is not welcome there. VW has drawn criticism from both sides because it has allowed both pro- and anti-union groups to speak to workers and hand out leaflets.
Roughly 1,500 factory employees will vote on whether to unionize from February 12-14. If successful, the Chattanooga factory would be the first in the US organized under a German-style works council system where white- and blue-collar workers directly negotiate factory issues with the company's management.
