PATINA at ITS BEST is an UNDERSTATEMENT! The seats were redone a few years back and still look really nice. The carpet, door panels, and headliner are still intact and original and would need replacing to take the interior to the next level. However it never bothered me as it goes with the theme of the bug. All the chrome and glass are in real nice shape for its age. It has the rare popout windows which is a nice accessory as well. Its really solid and cancer free. It has a patch in the passenger side of the floor pan and that’s it. Everything else on the car is solid. Of course it has some minor scuffs, chips and KILLER PATINA, to be expected for an unrestored vehicle of its age. It has NEVER been hit front or rear, no BS stories etc. The bug goes down the road straight and drives awesome! It has the rare popout windows which is a nice accessory as well. This 1962 Ragtop bug can’t be replaced or duplicated for any amount of money. Its the real deal. No fake patina or bs stories. In my opinion, it has the BEST Patina on planet earth. I have a clear California title in hand. Please don’t ask me for a buy it now or my lowest price. If you’re serious, I will entertain serious offers; lowballers will be ignored. I reserve the right to end the listing early for any reason at any time. Lastly, no trades please. Overseas buyers are welcome to bid. I will do my best to assist the buyers in a smooth transaction throughout the entire process. Thank you, good luck and happy bidding. TERMS AND CONDITIONS: I require a $500

VW Jetta GLI, Peugeot 505 are MotorWeek's 1986 Euro sport sedan alternatives
Tue, Dec 23 2014Video reviews have become a mainstay of automotive journalism, but long before every publication turned on its video cameras and started uploading to YouTube, there was one program that was blazing the trail. That, of course, was MotorWeek, the television car program produced by Maryland Public Television and hosted by the inimitable John Davis. The program first aired back in 1981, and after more than three decades in the business, it's got a considerable archive of old episodes to unearth. In this latest gem recovered from the MotorWeek back catalog, the program pitted two European sports sedans against each other: a Volkswagen Jetta GLI and a Peugeot 505 Turbo. That's right: back in the 1980s, Peugeot was still competing in the US marketplace. The forced-induction 505 may not have been enough to keep the French automaker in American showrooms, but it was enough to stand up against the VW. Which one won MotorWeek's favor? You'll just have to watch the six-minute clip to find out. News Source: MotorWeek via YouTube Volkswagen Peugeot Economy Cars Performance Videos Sedan vw jetta gli
VW using other manufacturing locations as leverage in battle with TN [w/video]
Sat, 26 Apr 2014We've reached a new step in the ongoing drama at Volkswagen's factory in Chattanooga, TN. The United Auto Workers recently dropped its opposition to the union vote and agreed that it wouldn't hold another ballot for at least a year. Now, the new question becomes where VW is going to build its forthcoming midsize SUV.
Earlier, it had been considered all but certain that the SUV, likely a production version of the CrossBlue concept (pictured above), would be built in Tennessee. However, it seems the Chattanooga factory might have competition to produce it. In emails obtained by The Detroit News, VW's lawyer wrote to the Tennessee economic development department in January saying, "While we understand there are some 'non-deal' issues that are causing a delay in the TN solution, VW has been successful in reaching agreement on terms at the alternative locations."
As previously reported, the state of Tennessee allegedly offered VW about $300 million in incentives to build the vehicle there and create an estimated 1,350 jobs, but it later rescinded the deal. Newly leaked documents from NewsChannel 5 (WTVF-TV) in Nashville allegedly show just how close that offer was to being completed. It appears that VW actually sent the government the first draft of a memorandum of understanding agreeing to the incentives, but the state removed the offer in late January.
Audi CVT suit settlement given green light, 64,000 cars covered
Mon, 07 Oct 2013Audi drivers, listen up. If you bought or leased a 2002-06 model-year A4 or A6 with a factory-installed Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) that failed, you may be entitled to reimbursement under a recently settled class-action lawsuit with corporate parent Volkswagen.
According to Automotive News, the settlement covers about 64,000 vehicles and alleges that "manufacturing and design problems caused the transmissions to fail and left owners stuck with repair costs." While the suit also argues Audi was aware of these issues (going so far as to hide that knowledge from consumers), the settlement stops short of acknowledging any wrongdoing by the German automaker.
Audi drivers are eligible for a cash reimbursement if their CVT repairs occurred within 10 years or 100,000 miles of the date they bought or leased the vehicle before June 19, 2013. To be eligible for compensation, drivers must submit a claim form (found here) with supporting documents by November 18.
