This classic sports well in show, as a daily
driver, or would perform well in autocross as it benefits from significant
suspension, brake, hub, roll bar and exhaust upgrades, greatly
improving the performance and safety of this iconic classic convertible.
There is a recently refinished hard top, canvas soft top, and
tonneau finish skirt. This car is fast with a smooth precise gear shift, hums
at highway speeds.
This roadster has a whisper ride without a single
squeak, rattle or any noise.... save for the velvety exhaust notes. Besides
the exquisite care this car has had throughout it's life, this is attributed to
the entire exhaust system (stainless steel) being welded at the joints,
and the custom roll bar (polished SS) with 3 contoured attachment points
through body and secured to chasis.
This is the next to last year of
production with numerous engineering benefits over the spitfire's
evovlement. It was originally imported from England to Nova Scotia, resided
in British Columbia, retaining the sleek chrome bumpers as did the
European destination cars of that year. It was garaged, blocked
and oil drained in October for 6 months each year. As third owner,
I imported it from BC in 2011 to Virginia where it has added 3,00 miles to
total 35,000 original miles. It has been in a dehumidfied, temperature
controlled garage and driven regularly. It has never failed to start, idle
smoothly, nor overheat. You will find the upgrade list and quality materials to
be unmatched by another T 1500 Spitfire.
