You are viewing a very rare 1964 Triumph Spitfire "4" MK 1. Being offered at a "low reserve". Considered by many to be the most collectible in the Spitfire series.
Professionally Rebuilt Engine and Dual Carbs with approximately 1000 miles. Due to an unexpected loss of storage I am having to thin my collection and will be offering several cars in the next few months. Vin #: FC22463L Engine # FD3847HE Color: Green with Black Leather Interior Clear "Michigan" Title Mileage: 41,100 (Speedometer/Odometer does not work) I will be adding more pictures within the next few days. The Spitfire is a nice daily driver example that is pretty much turn-key. Always garage stored and covered and seldom used over the years. It is what I would consider a driver quality example that has just the right amount of patina. Looks beautiful and always gets plenty of compliments. This example is pretty much stock except for the header/exhaust & radio. Mechanically, the Triumph runs and drives great. As stated, the engine had a complete rebuild at "Manx Motors" which is a well known "British Repair Specialist. The following were replaced during the rebuild: Pistons, thrust bearings, rod bearings, valve guides, exhaust & inlet guides & carb kit/rebuilt carbs. New Brake and Clutch Master Cylinders. Newer header and exhaust. New starter and generator as shown in the pictures. Has good oil pressure and does not smoke or make any strange noises. The battery/charging system works fine and the battery has never gone flat. Clutch and transmission in good working condition. Brake and Clutch Hydraulics new and work fine. Has upgraded chrome header with newer exhaust. The engine compartment looks very tidy and original with no modifications. Tires in good condition. It does leak some oil as noted when I took it out of storage, however the the engine looks perfectly clean as shown, so not exactly sure where it's leaking - typical British car. The interior is in very nice original condition as shown in the pictures. Considering it's over 50 years old, I would say it's very well preserved. The dash is in nice shape as well as the door panels and seats. Has an aftermarket radio that was added at some point. Light switch for stalk was replaced with an "aftermarket" switch. Has original steering wheel. All window cranks and door handles work fine and are correct. Has full "Tonneau" Cover that is in excellent condition. The body is in nice condition and looks very presentable as shown in the pictures. It has an older repaint in the original color - it's a beautiful green color that has a hint of blue as seen in some of the pictures in the garage. The body does have some paint bubbles/paint lifting and misc chips that would be expected from an older original example. I will try to get some pictures to show these areas. There are no stone chips on the hood of the car or the rocker panels. The paint on the left rear quarter panel is dull. Trunk lid lip has a few barely noticeable bubbles. Does not have a spare tire. Rocker panels and floors are solid with no rust holes. Chrome is in good condition including bumpers and door handles. Has convertible top and frame. In Summary this is a great original "early" example that is pretty much ready to be driven and enjoyed. Far from perfect, but a perfect weekend or fair weather "driver" for the British car enthusiast. Would make the drive to work a bit more enjoyable and a perfect way to start and finish your day! Jaguar F Type V6 S vs Triumph Street Triple R in open-air track attack
Sun, 21 Sep 2014Typically, these track battle videos pair up car against car or, in more disparate circumstances, car versus crossover, as we saw the other day. While the outcome of that battle was quite predictable, what'll happen when an equally fetching (and fast) four-wheeler is put up against one of the icons of the two-wheeled world? Evo just had to find out.
Matching up a Jaguar F-Type V6 S Convertible against a Triumph Street Triple R is at least more of an even fight than the last battle between the Porsche Cayman GTS and Macan Turbo. The Triumph has a 675-cc engine to work with, and is very light. Meanwhile, the Jag has a thumping 380-horsepower, 3.0-liter, supercharged V6 to haul about it's considerably heftier heft. Who will come out on top?
