1980 Triumph Spitfire, Carmine Red with hard top. I bought this car on Ebay 3 years ago for $3,000. I have over $10,000 in it including the purchase price and $450 shipping fee to NC from Mass. I had it painted back to original factory color (Inside doors, under boot/bonnet and hard top are original paint). It has leather Miatta seats with speakers in head rests. Seats do not slide from front to back and are permanently mounted as far back as possible. The back rest does adjust however. I have a list of every cent I have put into this car including receipts of most items/services. Along with the seats, other items include but are not limited to: New Robbins "Everflex" vinyl top, Carmine red hard top (bought separately in excellent condition), new door panels, new radiator and hoses, luggage rack, window trim, door seals, clutch and slave cylinder, boot cover and tonneau cover (which DOES fit with Miatta seats if you adjust back rests forward), reupholstered wheel wells and back panel, custom made console with storage area and cup holder, new glove box on driver side and new locking glove box on passenger side, replaced soft top frame, new carpet and new verneer on dash panel. The overdrive never worked and I had transmission problems so I had the transmission replaced with a 4 speed (no overdrive). Universal joints have been replaced. Weber carburetor and headers were on car prior to my purchase. The air filter was too big and made an inverted dent in the bonnet. We replaced it with a thinner filter and I had the dent repaired when the car was painted. A smaller dent reappeared so I ground down the corner of the filter and it seems to have solved the problem. You have to look for the dent to see it. The only other body dings are small chips on door edges from having them adjusted. There is a dent in the rear plastic bumper. Car runs great. The brakes need work and some of the contacts need to be cleaned (the head lights work but are dim due to this). I would probably keep the car if I had a garage, but I need a new cover (and brake work) and already have way too much in it. I have also recently been promoted to plant manager and have no time to spend on it. The problems are minor considering all the work and money already invested. I also had knee replacement and it is nearly impossible for me to get in and out of the car when the top is up. The reserve is less than half of what I have put into this car. It is a beautiful car and is "show ready." I have the "Repair Operation" and "Haynes" manuals.

Jaguar F Type V6 S vs Triumph Street Triple R in open-air track attack
Sun, 21 Sep 2014Typically, these track battle videos pair up car against car or, in more disparate circumstances, car versus crossover, as we saw the other day. While the outcome of that battle was quite predictable, what'll happen when an equally fetching (and fast) four-wheeler is put up against one of the icons of the two-wheeled world? Evo just had to find out.
Matching up a Jaguar F-Type V6 S Convertible against a Triumph Street Triple R is at least more of an even fight than the last battle between the Porsche Cayman GTS and Macan Turbo. The Triumph has a 675-cc engine to work with, and is very light. Meanwhile, the Jag has a thumping 380-horsepower, 3.0-liter, supercharged V6 to haul about it's considerably heftier heft. Who will come out on top?
You'll need to watch the full video to find out.
