I have done, as noted elsewhere, extensive reconstruction work on this car to get it in good driveable condition. The mechanical work is all done and the car runs nicely and is a joy to drive. The car needs cosmetic work, but even as is it turns heads when I drive it. The engine was completely rebuilt, the desirable electric overdrive transmission was added (this was a rare original option on Spitfires and really makes the engine purr, reducing rpm's and improving gas usage), headers and a performance exhaust system installed, a Weber carburetor added. The left rear half-axle was replaced with a new one. The entire clutch assembly was replaced with new parts. Brakes were completely rebuilt. This vehicle has had Mazda Miata seats installed to give head and neck support and protection. (Due to this the tonneau shown in the photo is not included. There are a few small areas of rust damage that will need some bodywork. I have done extensive internal rust proofing, with the entire interior framework treated with rust preventative. A new battery is probably called for. I purchased the car originally for the same amount I am asking for it, and then put between $12,000 and $15,000 into mechanical work, as I never intended to sell the car. But plans change, and I am moving to a location where only a 4-wheel drive can access my property, so I cannot keep the Spitfire. Feel free to call me with questions about the car at (813*943*1309) |

Jaguar F Type V6 S vs Triumph Street Triple R in open-air track attack
Sun, 21 Sep 2014Typically, these track battle videos pair up car against car or, in more disparate circumstances, car versus crossover, as we saw the other day. While the outcome of that battle was quite predictable, what'll happen when an equally fetching (and fast) four-wheeler is put up against one of the icons of the two-wheeled world? Evo just had to find out.
Matching up a Jaguar F-Type V6 S Convertible against a Triumph Street Triple R is at least more of an even fight than the last battle between the Porsche Cayman GTS and Macan Turbo. The Triumph has a 675-cc engine to work with, and is very light. Meanwhile, the Jag has a thumping 380-horsepower, 3.0-liter, supercharged V6 to haul about it's considerably heftier heft. Who will come out on top?
You'll need to watch the full video to find out.
