1973 Triumph Spitfire 1500 Beautiful #2 Condition Classic Convertible on 2040-cars
Haddon Heights, New Jersey, United States
*** See
additional pictures on http://www.taylormadeclassiccars.com/spitfireslides.html This is a very nice show car that is not a trailer queen, but meant to be driven. I would rate it a solid #2 condition on the Hagerty’s valuation guide. It’s had one-owner since new, a well maintained example. It has an older repaint in the same color. I have a folder with receipts of all work done. Includes original bill of sale, invoice dated July 16, 1973 listing the sale price of $3,250.00. Came with original AM/FM radio, full split tonneau cover with head rest, heater, defroster, bucket seats, seat belts, 4-speed, owner’s manual, backup lights and turn signals. Still have the “Sales & Service” and “Passport to Service” booklets. A restoration was completed in May 1993 with some minor rust repair, strip to bare metal, wheels refinished, and a professional $4,000 paint job. That repaint to this day has a very beautiful finish even now and is a result of that restoration work done 20 years ago. More recent work shown by the receipts list new shocks, rebuilt alternator, belt, battery, new tires, new clutch master cylinder, new slave cylinder, new starter, u-joints, rear differential refreshed, seats re-padded, major tune up two years ago with new brakes, overhauled calipers, new rear shoes, new front pads, points, plugs, new fuel pump, etc. I recently bought this car from a widow, as well as another car seven years ago from this very same widow. I just installed a shifter linkage kit, installed stainless door sill plates, installed chrome SU carb covers, and new gas filter. I bought a new black soft vinyl convertible top from Moss Motors and its installation is in-progress. Chrome and bright-work all polished, spare in trunk with jack and tool kit. I removed the screen covers from the headlights. Interior is beautiful, wood dash shows nice original finish, carpets like new, door panels good, seats very good, no rips or tears, dash vinyl has some cracks, glass all good. Car runs and drives great. Equipped with twin SU carbs and headers for the exhaust. Tires like new, floors are solid with no rust evident anywhere. Heater/defrost works, fan, lights, wipers, horn, tachometer, temp gauge, fuel gauge all work. Speedometer not working, but does register speed when cable is spun, so it may be connection in transmission issue. Please remember
that this is an "antique" vehicle 40 years old and in use. It
is NOT a trailer queen and does show very minor wear and imperfections,
consistent with a vehicle with this mileage, age and use. Car is
available for pre-bid inspections and I would always encourage and welcome
this. I am proud of my 100% excellent feedback score and always try to
give accurate descriptions so that there are no disappointments. Those with less
than ten (10) or negative feedback history do NOT bid unless you contact me and
communicate first, otherwise your bids will be retracted and bidder banned from
further bidding. The winning bid is NOT a right of first refusal, but a
commitment to purchase the vehicle regardless of anything, so a non-refundable
deposit via PayPal is required within 24 hours of auction ending and
arrangements to be made for pickup of item. Vehicle is listed "for
sale" by other venues and media, so I reserve the right to terminate the
listing at any time. Additional pictures available on my “hobby” website

Jaguar F Type V6 S vs Triumph Street Triple R in open-air track attack
Sun, 21 Sep 2014Typically, these track battle videos pair up car against car or, in more disparate circumstances, car versus crossover, as we saw the other day. While the outcome of that battle was quite predictable, what'll happen when an equally fetching (and fast) four-wheeler is put up against one of the icons of the two-wheeled world? Evo just had to find out.
Matching up a Jaguar F-Type V6 S Convertible against a Triumph Street Triple R is at least more of an even fight than the last battle between the Porsche Cayman GTS and Macan Turbo. The Triumph has a 675-cc engine to work with, and is very light. Meanwhile, the Jag has a thumping 380-horsepower, 3.0-liter, supercharged V6 to haul about it's considerably heftier heft. Who will come out on top?
You'll need to watch the full video to find out.
