1967 Triumph Spitfire Mk Ii on 2040-cars

Manufactured in late 1966 and titled in 1967. This car was partially restored (frame on) in 1995 and is still a great “10 foot” car. It was my daily driver for a couple of years before practicality set it. It has always been stored inside since I’ve owned it, and although it sat for the last 7 years, I was able to get it running and drive it around the neighborhood shortly after Thanksgiving 2013. The car does have a few garage dings and truly minor surface rust. The body and frame are absolutely solid. I estimate that I put less than 10,000 miles on the car since 1995. It has a new starter (2013), rebuilt Mk3 fully synchronized 4 speed transmission (non-OD), Mk3 rear end with larger pinion shaft and u-joint yoke, factory hardtop (rare!), convertible top that is in decent condition, aftermarket grill from back in the 1960s, glass pack, and Performance brand “Mini-lite” clones. To the best of my knowledge the engine was rebuilt once during it's life way back between when my father owned it and when I bought it back in the early 1990's. It sounds like it may have a mild cam in it. All the glass is intact. The engine holds 60 psi of oil pressure when cold, 40-45 psi on the road when warm, and 20 at idle when warm. I believe the car would benefit from a new distributor ($230 for an electronic ignition aftermarket piece from Victoria British), and it should have the brakes gone through for safety just because it sat for so long. All electrical seems to be working. All gauges are present, but the speedometer locked up a long time ago. I have an aftermarket piece currently installed to the left of the steering column as well as an ammeter and oil pressure gauge. The tachometer works but needs rebuilt. I have another set of gauges and a couple of boxes of miscellaneous spare parts including a transmission, drive shaft and rear leaf spring. I estimate that three or
four weekends of work and some basic parts would result in a good daily driver for this spring, or this
would be an absolutely solid basis for a complete restoration. It is original except for the original wire wheels,
grill, glove boxes (makeshift ones currently installed), rear interior panels (home made version currently in place), and the interior trunk panels. $500 deposit due via pay-pal within 2 days of auction closing date. Jaguar F Type V6 S vs Triumph Street Triple R in open-air track attack
Sun, 21 Sep 2014Typically, these track battle videos pair up car against car or, in more disparate circumstances, car versus crossover, as we saw the other day. While the outcome of that battle was quite predictable, what'll happen when an equally fetching (and fast) four-wheeler is put up against one of the icons of the two-wheeled world? Evo just had to find out.
Matching up a Jaguar F-Type V6 S Convertible against a Triumph Street Triple R is at least more of an even fight than the last battle between the Porsche Cayman GTS and Macan Turbo. The Triumph has a 675-cc engine to work with, and is very light. Meanwhile, the Jag has a thumping 380-horsepower, 3.0-liter, supercharged V6 to haul about it's considerably heftier heft. Who will come out on top?
