1978 Triumph Spitfire Base Convertible 2-door 1.5l With Overdrive Transmission on 2040-cars
Loudonville, Ohio, United States
This is a solid bodied, running and driving
Spitfire. This car was bought through an auction and was purchased as a flood salvage
car. I bought two cars to build one good one. It has been sitting in a barn for
the last year as I have not taken the time to start the project. We are
moving and it must go. This is mechanically the better of the two cars. The
engine runs well, starts easily and runs smoothly. The overdrive transmission
shifts to all 4 gears and reverse. I have not driven the car fast enough to
engage the overdrive. Brakes and clutch are functional. Steering is stiff.
Tires are decent and the rims are good. Speedometer and tach both function.
Lights and wipers work. Rear shocks were damaged and I removed them. Trunk and
floors are solid. There was a trunk mount luggage rack that had been removed
prior to me getting the car. Glass is all good. Soft top is fair. Foam is
deteriorating in the seats and interior will need to be redone. Mechanically
the car will need some attention; however it is a very good car to rebuild, as without too much effort, it could be a good
driver. Call Mark with questions 4196062331. |

Jaguar F Type V6 S vs Triumph Street Triple R in open-air track attack
Sun, 21 Sep 2014Typically, these track battle videos pair up car against car or, in more disparate circumstances, car versus crossover, as we saw the other day. While the outcome of that battle was quite predictable, what'll happen when an equally fetching (and fast) four-wheeler is put up against one of the icons of the two-wheeled world? Evo just had to find out.
Matching up a Jaguar F-Type V6 S Convertible against a Triumph Street Triple R is at least more of an even fight than the last battle between the Porsche Cayman GTS and Macan Turbo. The Triumph has a 675-cc engine to work with, and is very light. Meanwhile, the Jag has a thumping 380-horsepower, 3.0-liter, supercharged V6 to haul about it's considerably heftier heft. Who will come out on top?
You'll need to watch the full video to find out.
