1971 Triumph Spitfire on 2040-cars

Year:1971 Mileage:71375

Concord, Virginia, United States

The car is a beautiful candy apple red.  Not show quality but a nice paint job.  The engine is a 1500 engine that was taken out of a 1976 MG Midget and rebuilt by a prior owner less that 5,000 miles ago.  During the engine rebuild/swap a new weber downdraft carb(with manual choke) and intake was added.  The rear end is a remanufactured one from Quantum mechanics.  Tires all around are Michelins with less than 1500 miles on them. wheels and caps are excellent.  All four brakes were new 2,000 miles ago, including calipers, rotors, and master cylinder.  The chrome is not perfect but very nice.  I can find no rust on the car (except small spots on the bumpers that can be cleaned away), all floors, wheel wells, etc are solid.  All gauges work, the heater and fan works.  Carpet is on good shape.  It has a clarion cassette/radio with a nice custom made speaker box on the rear shelf.  The fog lamps work as well.  The car starts easily, idles smoothly, and there is no smoke from the engine.  The car cruises effortlessly at 60 mph at 3100 rpms.  The top is usable but has a 2 " split in it, otherwise no damage.  Back window is somewhat smoky.  Can be replaced for around $200.00 through Moss Motors or Victoria British.

The car has a brand new Virginia inspection sticker and has been checked out from front to back by a mechanic who had nothing but good things to say and was fairly impressed at just what good shape the car is in.

I love the car but my husband is to tall to ride in it, so I need something bigger.

Buyer must pay $500.00 via Paypal within 24 hours of winning the car and must make their own shipping arrangements. Payment must be made if full within 5 days unless we decide on other arrangements.   I will be willing to help however I can and could maybe even meet the buyer halfway (as the car is totally road worthy and legal), if it is not too far.

Jaguar F Type V6 S vs Triumph Street Triple R in open-air track attack

Sun, 21 Sep 2014

Typically, these track battle videos pair up car against car or, in more disparate circumstances, car versus crossover, as we saw the other day. While the outcome of that battle was quite predictable, what'll happen when an equally fetching (and fast) four-wheeler is put up against one of the icons of the two-wheeled world? Evo just had to find out.
Matching up a Jaguar F-Type V6 S Convertible against a Triumph Street Triple R is at least more of an even fight than the last battle between the Porsche Cayman GTS and Macan Turbo. The Triumph has a 675-cc engine to work with, and is very light. Meanwhile, the Jag has a thumping 380-horsepower, 3.0-liter, supercharged V6 to haul about it's considerably heftier heft. Who will come out on top?
You'll need to watch the full video to find out.
