Good condition 1970 Triumph Spitfire MkIII. Last of the early Spitfires, with the classic tail, and rare RAF roundel Spitfire emblem. Factory Non-overdrive car (spins at about 4,000rpm at 70mph... But at least there is no unreliable electronic overdrive to worry about!).

Daily Driver quality. Amateur restored about 10 years ago. Not a show car, but presents very well. Paint has some patina, but no cracking, and shows well "5-footer" paint. Frame has minor surface rust only and body is straight and clean. All chrome is in excellent condition. Odometer is stuck at ~39,000, although the (Clean, clear, and in my name) title says 47,000 actual. Regardless, its never good practice to trust the odometers on these cars- I always go by overall condition. Rebuilt motor and carburetor, new radiator, and the car is in excellent mechanical condition. Could be driven down the coast or across the country. Tracks perfectly straight all the way up to its top speed of around 90mph, with no vibrations. Motor does not blow smoke, does not misfire, and does not leak any fluids or make any strange sounds. Transmission shifts perfectly, and clutch picks up without slip. Aftermarket Monza exhaust sounds loud, burbly, and incredible and does not backfire. Minilite wheels

Interior in very good quality, with no cracks in the dash, and seat covers in good shape.

3 tops included: the soft top shown, the excellent condition Factory steel round hard top (pictures to come, top is in storage currently), Tonneau cover, which zips to cover the entire cabin (below the windshield) or only the passengers section.

The best part of this car: the typically prone-to-failure electronics function perfectly. All lights (headlight high/low, brake lights, rear lights, reverse lights, turn signals) work, all indicator/warning lights work, and all gauges work including fuel, temperature, speedometer and tachometer (with the exception of the aforementioned odometer). EVEN THE FACTORY AM RADIO FUNCTIONS!

Car is driven 2 times a week always garaged both at home, and at work, always starts with one turn of the key, and needs nothing to simply drive, and very little for a complete restoration. Selling because I am a Marine Corps Officer Candidate, and soon will not have access to the car for 3 months. I would prefer to sell to someone who can enjoy it- although if it does not sell, I will likely have the car finished to show quality while at Officer Candidates School.

I welcome anyone who wishes to see/inspect/test drive the car before bidding, and can answer any further questions.

Jaguar F Type V6 S vs Triumph Street Triple R in open-air track attack

Sun, 21 Sep 2014

Typically, these track battle videos pair up car against car or, in more disparate circumstances, car versus crossover, as we saw the other day. While the outcome of that battle was quite predictable, what'll happen when an equally fetching (and fast) four-wheeler is put up against one of the icons of the two-wheeled world? Evo just had to find out.
Matching up a Jaguar F-Type V6 S Convertible against a Triumph Street Triple R is at least more of an even fight than the last battle between the Porsche Cayman GTS and Macan Turbo. The Triumph has a 675-cc engine to work with, and is very light. Meanwhile, the Jag has a thumping 380-horsepower, 3.0-liter, supercharged V6 to haul about it's considerably heftier heft. Who will come out on top?
You'll need to watch the full video to find out.
