1969 Triumph Spitfire Mk Iii on 2040-cars
Eureka, Illinois, United States
Up for Auction is a 1969 Triumph Spitfire MK III. This is a California RUST FREE car. I personally brought it to Illinois when I purchased it and it has been Garage kept since. This car is extremely solid! The Floor pans, Frame, Suspension, all Factory Sheet Metal, Body, etc, all SOLID. The Complete
Drive train was Re-built about 1500 miles ago. The engine is a late model 1493 cc (1.5) with a down draft WEBER carb. The Gearbox is a factory 4 speed and the Differential is also stock. Rear Suspension was rebuilt at the time of Drive Train re-build. The car has the Correct wheels and Hub Caps with excellent like-new tires. The troublesome Lucas Generator has been replaced with a GM alternator and gives worry-free electrical power to the car. The interior is very clean. All the lights and turn signals work. Hazzard lights work. The window wipers work, the heater control and fan function as they should also. The horn is nice and loud. The car only had a CB radio when I got it, its gone now. The Stereo is all custom with a Kenwood deck, 2 rear mounted 6x9's in a custom box, 2 front dash mounted tweeters, a pair of 10 Sub Woofers in the trunk with box and amp. All professionally done. Ray-Dot Chrome racing style mirrors replaced the cheap aftermarket ones that were on the car. The mount is a smaller footprint and the old mount can be seen if you bother looking for it. Not a big deal but I wanted to mention it. The Clutch, Gas, & Brake pedals are all Aluminum racing style (not the cheap ones!). This car runs and drives great and is very presentable. I have shown it at numerous local car shows. This is not a concourse winning car, however it s extremely nice. The body does have some minor paint chips just from driving around. The top shows some typical use wear, minor tears, and the very common yellowing plastic windows. (I also have a brand New Hard Top that I will offer the winner for an additional price. This Hard top is not included in this auction) The tires could use a balancing because some of the weights have come off. Also included is a decorative Chrome bar (bumper over-rider) that fits on top of the front bumper. I did not have it mounted for the pictures but it does come with the car. The car does not have its original speedometer. The first time I drove the car this spring it seized up and had to be replaced. The speedo that is in the car now only shows about 12,000 miles on it, but the car does have around 65-70,000 miles on it. But again, everything has been re-built recently.
The winner can pick this car up locally or arrange shipping. I am not a shipper nor can I arrange shipping for you but I may be able to make a recommendation. This car is being sold as-is with no warranties expressed or implied. I will not be responsible for you speeding tickets either! This car is also listed for sale locally so there is a possibility that this auction may end early. Please, please feel free to email me anytime about this car. I am always available to answer any questions. To the Winner: A non-refundable $500 paypal deposit is required within 48 hours of auctions end. Final payment can be made within 7 days of Auctions end prior to pick up or delivery. Money orders or Cashiers Checks are the preferred method of payment. |

Jaguar F Type V6 S vs Triumph Street Triple R in open-air track attack
Sun, 21 Sep 2014Typically, these track battle videos pair up car against car or, in more disparate circumstances, car versus crossover, as we saw the other day. While the outcome of that battle was quite predictable, what'll happen when an equally fetching (and fast) four-wheeler is put up against one of the icons of the two-wheeled world? Evo just had to find out.
Matching up a Jaguar F-Type V6 S Convertible against a Triumph Street Triple R is at least more of an even fight than the last battle between the Porsche Cayman GTS and Macan Turbo. The Triumph has a 675-cc engine to work with, and is very light. Meanwhile, the Jag has a thumping 380-horsepower, 3.0-liter, supercharged V6 to haul about it's considerably heftier heft. Who will come out on top?
You'll need to watch the full video to find out.
