For sale is a beautifully restored 1967 Triumph Spitfire MK2.  Chassis # FC86210, Engine # FM14996UE.  This is truly a rust-free Triumph.  It was started in Oct. 2012 and completed in July 2013.  It has all of the original steel body panels, there was only surface rust in some of the common places (sills, fire wall, wheel wells, etc.) but absolutely zero rot on the car, which is rare for an almost 50 year old British sports car.  The engine was upgraded to a 1974 1500cc engine sometime in the late 70s according to the previous owner.  It runs and drives like new, the engine has great compression and the gearbox shifts smoothly.  Although the odometer in the car reads less than 68k miles, the actual mileage of the engine itself is not known.  Just about every thing on the car was taken off and refurbished or replaced; including all of the suspension components, intake/exhaust manifolds, generator, starter, distributor, radiator, etc..  I have taken the car to a couple of local classic car shows this summer and everyone always comments on how gorgeous the color of the car is and how nice it complements the lines of the car.  Although not a concours quality paint job it is very well done.  The interior and undercarriage are also in just as great condition.  I also have additional pictures of the vehicle before and during the restoration process as well as all receipts, so if you have a question about the Triumph please feel free to ask.

Body:

Recently stripped down back to bare metal, all dents pulled and high quality Rage Extreme poly used where needed, primed using PPG Epoxy Primer. Repainted using PPG Basecoat/Clearcoat in beautiful metallic Vapour Gray (have some left over for any future chips and scratches). Frame was stripped back to bare metal and repainted in satin black. Undercarriage and wheel arches were stripped of old undercoating and recoated using 3m underbody coating.  All new weatherstriping and gaskets. New taillight and turn signal covers.

Hardtop and convertible top:

Hardtop was stripped to bare metal and repainted. All weatherstriping replaced. Headliner is in excellent condition with no tears. Glass has no cracks, some scratches. Convertible top frame was stripped and repainted in satin black. Convertible top is original to the car, it is white vinyl and does show its age (slight yellowing of the windows, etc.) but does not have any tears or rips.

Trim:

New chrome trunk hinges, b post covers, license plate light cover, hood hinges. All exterior chrome and stainless steel trim repolished. Front bumpers are in very good condition, only a few imperfections showing, definately a 5 footer. Rear bumpers are in decent shape, showing signs of some pitting and some imperfections, a good 10 footer though.  Hubcaps are in good condition.

Interior:

Original carpets in excellent condition, original seats in very good condition, original door cards in very good condion. Dash top and fascia were recovered in vinyl. Sun visors redone in white vinyl. All gauges removed, cleaned and refurbished if necessary. Every switch works (dash lights, wipers, heater blower, all lights, etc.). The radio does not work and is not original to the car, speakers in the rear panel do. Steering wheel is original. The wood rim was stripped of old varnish and redone in durable poly.

Engine and mechanicals:

Engine block was stripped of all ancilleries and repainted. All oil seals replaced (oil pan, timing cover seal and gasket, valve cover, rear oil seal and gasket, ect.). New engine mounts installed. All hoses and belt replaced. All ignition parts replaced (new plugs/wires, dist. cap, points, ignition coil, etc.).  Electricals converted to negative ground.  New temp. sender and gasket. New fuel tank sender. All fluids changed. Radiator flushed and refurbished, new hoses. Generator was refurbished (new bearing and brushes).   All new brake parts (pads, shoes, hardware, drums and rotors turned). Wheel bearings were repacked. Tires are not new, but are in excellent condition with very few miles on them. New muffler with exhaust pipe refurbished w/ new gaskets.

Gearbox:

Standard 4-speed transmission, removed and repainted. All gaskets replaced. New rubber mounts installed. All internal components appeared to be in excellent condition, no excessive wear. New speedo cable installed. Clutch disc plate and cover in excellent shape.  Slave and master cylinder in good condition, no leaks.

Jaguar F Type V6 S vs Triumph Street Triple R in open-air track attack

Sun, 21 Sep 2014

Typically, these track battle videos pair up car against car or, in more disparate circumstances, car versus crossover, as we saw the other day. While the outcome of that battle was quite predictable, what'll happen when an equally fetching (and fast) four-wheeler is put up against one of the icons of the two-wheeled world? Evo just had to find out.
Matching up a Jaguar F-Type V6 S Convertible against a Triumph Street Triple R is at least more of an even fight than the last battle between the Porsche Cayman GTS and Macan Turbo. The Triumph has a 675-cc engine to work with, and is very light. Meanwhile, the Jag has a thumping 380-horsepower, 3.0-liter, supercharged V6 to haul about it's considerably heftier heft. Who will come out on top?
You'll need to watch the full video to find out.
