 Hello,

I'm listing this car for my father n law and will try to answer all questions as quickly/thoroughly as possible. There's very little to say except
"You will never see a car as clean as this or get a deal like this again."
Garage kept. Owned and operated by a 78 year old man whose health situation forces sale.

22,850 MILES!!!!   This car is mint and looks like new. Driven sparingly by elderly couple (sorry Mom/Dad). The back seat has been used maybe 20 times
when we visit, otherwise empty.
All if not most options:
Heated Seats, All wheel drive, V6, JBL premium sound system, Navigation System, bluetooth phone etc...,  two huge sun roofs, Leather seats, Premium package upgrade etc....etc....
This car doesn't have a dent, scratch, bump or blemish and looks like new.
This is the nicest, cleanest Venza you will see on Ebay, C^&g'slist, used car lot, or even your neighbors driveway - period. Looks. drives and smells like new.
>$38,000 when purchased. Our loss your gain.
The pictures speak for themselves.

Now for the obvious:
Cash only, no trades, no IOU's, no certified checks and positively no Nigerian shenanigans. Car and title will not be released until funds have cleared in bank.
$1000. NON  REFUNDABLE deposit to be received by me within 24hrs of auction close. Balance to be paid within 10 days of auction close unless alternate terms are discussed and approved by seller.

WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CANCEL THIS AUCTION AT ANY TIME. CAR IS FOR SALE LOCALLY AS WELL. (I would love to buy it myself if things were different.)

HAPPY BIDDING. THE WINNING BIDDER WILL BE THRILLED WITH THIS CAR!!

Dutch Toyota dealer has plans for old Prius batteries as solar backup

Thu, May 1 2014

A Toyota dealer in the Netherlands is looking to the sky for power. The Louwman Hague Toyota dealership has put almost 1,000 solar panels on the roof, and there might be some Prius hybrid batteries involved. Our Dutch isn't as good as it could be and our questions to Toyota in the US haven't turned up any definitive answers, but there is some mention that these solar panels are will someday be feeding power into a bank of Toyota hybrid batteries. The 1,000 panels make up 1,600 square meters, about the size of 4.5 IMAX movie screens, and is the largest in the area. They generate around a quarter of a megawatt of energy [as our readers point out, this is what the translation says, but it doesn't make sense, so we think it might mean a quarter MW of power a day], which is enough to power 80 homes. The excess electricity will go into the battery packs that have (possibly) already been used in a Prius or another of the company's hybrid. There are many examples of automotive batteries being tested as stationary back-up power sources, and maybe this Dutch solution can be used as a guide when Toyota sets up its new US headquarters in sunny Texas.

Japanese dealer petitioning Lexus for luxury van [w/poll]

Thu, 13 Mar 2014

Used to be that if you wanted a luxury automobile - especially one to be chauffeured around in - your choices were basically limited to a sedan. It could be bigger or smaller, more or less expensive, depending on your needs and budget, but it was always going to have four doors and a trunk. But these days the rich and famous are looking elsewhere for their commodious forms of pampering transportation. There are, of course, the crossovers and SUVs, which only seem to be getting bigger and more expensive thanks to the likes of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, Range Rover L and upcoming Bentley sport-ute. But luxury vans are becoming the new big thing.
That's the point that one dealer in Japan is trying to make to Toyota. The dealership owner himself reasons that if he's going out on the town, he's likely to take his chauffeured Lexus LS. But if he's taking a few friends along, even the biggest sedan isn't going to cut it. So he takes a Toyota Alphard (pictured above, also known as the Vellfire), a JDM van that's even bigger than a Voxy/Noah or Sienna but hardly a high-end affair. That's why he's asking Lexus to make a luxury van.
The idea may seem a little far-fetched, but isn't without precedent. It didn't take much for Lexus to transform the Land Cruiser into the LX and thus create its first luxury SUV. And as Mercedes has shown with pimped-out versions of the Sprinter and now with the debut of the new V-Class in Geneva, there's clearly a market for it... in some countries, anyway. The only question in our minds is how long it's going to take other luxury automakers to catch on, because let's face it: the Chrysler Town & Country ain't gonna cut it for those used to be driven around in a Maybach.

2015 Toyota Sienna

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

It's hard to love a minivan, but it's very, very easy to use one. More than any other kind of vehicle - save a panel van, perhaps - the minivan is the most appliance-like of four-wheeled transportation devices. And most minivan buyers don't need to love their purchases; they just need to use them. So when it comes to a minivan's driving dynamics, who cares?
Well, we do. So we perked right up when Toyota talked about refinements it made to the 2015 Sienna, starting with some 142 added spot welds made to the body structure. Normally not stop-the-presses stuff, but Toyota says the added reinforcements prompted Sienna engineers to recalibrate the springs and shocks for improved handling, and our very limited wheel time along the (admittedly benign) roads on the Big Island of Hawaii revealed the 2015 Sienna SE model's handling to be tidier and more engaging than you'd expect for a porky, 4,560-pound, eight-passenger box on wheels.
