Toyota 93 4x4 Sr5 Pickup on 2040-cars
Hampton, New Jersey, United States
1993 TOYOTA SR5 4X4 PICKUP (pre TACOMA, Ebay does not recognize this)
Very hard to find this vintage in this condition. One owner, 0 accident, low 142K miles (that's an average of just 7K per year), original paint, unmodified, very straight, very clean. Pics are not photoshoped other than license plate blur. Very well equipped SR5 model has upgraded trim and wheels, power windows, power mirrors, sun roof and such. Truck has been well cared for, and not abused. The perfect interior is all the indication of caring owner. All, what would be considered normal, repairs for its age have just been done. If you know the history of these Toyota trucks then you know the early ones built in Japan are considered to be superior to those built in US or Canada. However they were not free of all problems. Although far less rust issues with body and frame than the others that followed, they are not immune. This is a shining example of a true survivor. The body is rust free. The frame has had surface rust in typical areas and addressed by cleaning, and protecting with POR 15 incapsulating rust proofing throughout. The lower control arms were showing the worst, so they were replaced along with the uppers with new. Doing so warranted replacing all the ball joints, and bushings, even though they were not showing wear. I'd say the front end is now rebuilt to new. List of other recent work and new parts making truck ready for another 23 years of service (all work completed in the last two weeks). If it was in question it was simply replaced with NEW!. I don't believe in bandaids to buy time. * full tune up (normal stuff -plugs, wires, cap, all filters, all fluids, etc...) * valve cover gaskets * all brake lines front to back * all fuel lines * fuel pump assembly * fuel tank * front brake calipers, pads and rotors * rear brake drums * all shocks * timing belt with water pump * hard trans cooler line set * radiator * trans filter, fluid and pan gasket * front and rear chrome bumpers (originals were rusting but very straight) * fog lights * front alignment * Perrelli all-season tires * alloy rims (originals are included in sale with used tires at 30% remaining tread life) * master brake cylinder * AC converted to and charged with new type * muffler and tailpipe * several other unmentionables As you can see, I've spent a few dollars on this truck. I avoid adding it all up because it will only make me depressed. The only number(s) that matter(s) is what its worth $$$ to you! (true of any car for sale) My loss your gain. My situation and needs for this truck have changed so I'm listing it. This truck is legit. You will not be disappointed. It's still a 23 year old vehicle, so it's NOT PERFECT, There are imperfections, so please be realistic. But it is GREAT. PICS SAY IT ALL! Only because I HAVE TO SAY IT! Sold As-is, with no warranty expressed or implied. I am not a dealer. Must be paid in full before taking it anywhere. Clean title in hand. I will try and answer any questions through Ebay messages in a timely manor. I will not disclose my reserve. I will gladly deal with serious buyers and consider serious offers. If I feel you are not serious you will be ignored. I reserve the right to end this auction if reserve has not been met at any time. I will not waste your time if you don't waste mine. If your funds are not ready and avail, please don't bid! All that said. Good luck. |

BMW i5 could get Toyota-sourced hydrogen power
Tue, 18 Nov 2014It's starting to feel like the automotive landscape is right on the cusp of a boom in hydrogen-fueled vehicles. After all, the Toyota FCV is nearly ready, Volkswagen is readying a fuel cell concept for this week's Los Angeles Auto Show and Hyundai already sells its Tucson Fuel Cell. The next big name to add to that list might be BMW, as the company's co-development deal with Toyota starts to bear fruit.
According to Autocar, BMW may use a version of the fuel cell system from the Toyota FCV in the future i5. As part of its eco-oriented i sub-brand, the i5 is expected to be a stretched version of the i3 (pictured above) with extra rear legroom and cargo space. It's unclear at the moment whether a battery-powered pure electric powertrain will also be available. If accurate, then the rumor could give the Bavarian brand a counterattack against Mercedes-Benz' planned fuel cell vehicle in 2017.
BMW and Toyota first signed the memorandum of understanding to co-develop fuel cells, lightweight technology and a sports car back in 2012, and they made the arrangement official in late 2013. So far, few details on the progress of the work have been disclosed, but the performance model has been rumored to use a front-engine, all-wheel drive layout with supercapacitors.
2015 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro
Thu, 23 Oct 2014Despite the earnest efforts of Japanese automakers like Toyota and Nissan, the American pickup truck scene remains wholly dominated by the likes of Ford, General Motors and Chrysler. This is not news. Part of the reason is because of the sheer number of variants offered by US automakers - everything from work-spec base trucks to house-leveling heavy duty models can be had, with a seemingly endless combination of engines, cab sizes, bed lengths and trim levels. It's a hugely profitable business, and though the Japanese automakers still offer competitive fullsize trucks, in terms of sheer volume, they simply don't compete.
But American pickups aren't just about work; there's a huge play aspect involved, too. Look at the desert-storming Ford F-150 SVT Raptor or the Ram Power Wagon - these butch trucks are built with superb off-road prowess in mind, and Detroit's Japanese rivals have once again largely been silent in this segment. Until now.
Introduced at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show, Toyota now offers the TRD Pro series of models that, in addition to the crazy-orange Tundra seen here, includes the smaller Tacoma pickup and 4Runner SUV. And this isn't just some pretty appearance package, either - there's honest-to-goodness capability baked into all of the TRD Pro models. Intriguing, for sure, so I recently spent a weekend with the big boy Tundra to see what's what.
Has the auto industry hit peak hybrid?
Thu, 12 Jun 2014Hybrids are known for their great fuel economy and low emissions, but it looks like given current market conditions, only about three percent of new car consumers are willing to pay the premium for them. A new study from IHS/Polk finds that the hybrid market share among overall US auto sales are falling, despite more models with the technology on sale than ever before.
The study examined new car registrations in March from 2009 through 2014. In that time, the auto industry grew from 24 to 47 hybrid models available to consumers, but market share for the powertrain remained almost stagnant in that time. As of 2009, hybrids held 2.4 percent of the market; it fell slightly to 2.3 percent in 2010 and grew to 3.3 percent in 2013. However, 2014 showed a drop back to 3 percent. Overall hybrid sales have been growing since 2010, but they just aren't keeping up with the total auto market.
According to IHS/Polk, this isn't what you would expect to see. Usually, each new model in the market brings along with it a boost in sales. The growth in hybrid models 2009 to 2014 should have shown a larger increase in share for the segment.
