Toyota Tacoma Trd Pro on 2040-cars
Cleveland, Ohio, United States
It is in like new condition and wish it didn't have to go, as its the best truck I've ever owned, however I miss my luxury cars. The truck is stock with the exception of a few tasteful add ons that have been professionally installed and can be removed if desired. From day one I had a $6000 full vehicle clear bra applied. This isn't your average Toyota installed one, this is the best you can buy, you can't even tell its there! Protects the amazing Inferno color from scratches, chips, and anything else on the road looking to damage the paint. Also I had all of the windows tinted with Suntek CXP, the best high performance lifetime warranty window treatment. The TRD Pro floormats are still wrapped up as I had the dealer put in Weathertech mats before I even picked it up. I also had a Tacoma bed mat and genuine Toyota bed extension put in at the dealer. This particular one has the factory installed towing package which includes the larger battery and alternator, along with the trailer goodies such as a factory installed 7-pin and trailer sway control. Also this one has the factory installed Toyota alarm system. If you don't know how special the TRD Pro edition is, here are a few paragraphs from Toyota describing this special Tacoma: With its definitive hood scoop, smoked headlights, heritage-inspired TRD Pro "TOYOTA" grille and blackout badging, Tacoma TRD Pro has the attitude for any trail. Aggressive BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO tires, wrapped around standard TRD 16-in. off-road beadlock-style wheels, help maximize traction and cement this truck's off-road pedigree. Tacoma TRD Pro is equipped with the advanced Entune Audio system. Apps like Bing, iHeartRadio and Pandora keep you connected while navigation and Bluetooth help on any adventure. USB ports and 12V power ports help keep your gadgets charged and ready. Exclusive TRD Pro-branded carpet floor mats and a TRD Pro leather-wrapped shift knob pile on the attitude day in and day out. A TRD-tuned cat-back stainless steel exhaust helps the 1GR-FE 4.0L V6 breathe easier, improving performance and adding a menacing growl. Tacoma TRD Pro's oversize Bilstein shocks, matched to TRD-tuned front springs, provide an extra 1.75 inches of ride height, increase wheel travel and help keep the chaos under control. Thanks to Tacoma's TRD-designed heavy-duty suspension, other trucks eat its dust. Larger 2.5-in. TRD-tuned Bilstein shocks, matched to TRD-tuned springs, are equipped up front. In the rear are 2-in. TRD-tuned Bilstein shocks with remote reservoirs. These components help provide increased wheel travel and better heat dissipation for improved off-road control. Pack it up and move out. With a bed ready for almost any payload and the ability to tow up to 6,500 lbs. Tacoma TRD Pro is ready for dirt bikes, camping gear and the tools you need to power your next adventure, including a 115V/400W deck-mounted AC power outlet. And with its locking rear differential and advanced A-TRAC system, plus LT-rated BFGoodrich® All-Terrain KO tires, Tacoma TRD Pro has the traction to not only get your stuff there, but get it back as well.

Japanese earthquakes send ripples through auto industry
Mon, Apr 18 2016The earthquakes since April 14 in Japan's Kumamoto Prefecture on the island of Kyushu are having aftershocks on the US auto industry, particularly for Toyota. The company shut down most of its factories in the country due to parts shortages, and the plants will be closed at least through April 23. "Decisions regarding recommencement of operation at plants in Japan will be made on the basis of availability of parts," the company said in a statement. According to Automotive News, Toyota's closed factories include a vast range of popular models in the US, including the Toyota Prius, Mirai, RAV4, 4Runner, Land Cruiser, Lexus ES, LS, IS, GS, RC, NX, RX, GX, and LX. The company's only sites in Japan that are still open build Hino trucks, Daihatsu models, and the Toyota Century limo. Toyota isn't yet sure whether these shutdowns could lead to vehicle shortages in the US. "As you can imagine, we are still reviewing the situation and working to learn more," company spokesperson Aaron Fowles told Autoblog. "While we know that production will be suspended in stages at most of our vehicle assembly facilities in Japan between April 18th and the 23rd, we do not know if they will continue production suspensions. Also, any effects to our inventory and/or sales have yet to be determined." He expects the automaker to know more in the coming days. Many of the affected Toyota plants aren't even in Kumamoto Prefecture, but major suppliers have factories in the region. For example, Aisin Seiki and Renesas Electronics both had to shutdown operations at plants in the area, according to Automotive News. Toyota isn't the only automaker affected. Nissan experienced a brief slowdown but was back to work on Monday, and Honda has suspended a motorcycle plant in the region until Friday. Mitsubishi had to close a production line due to the parts shortage, according to The Japan Times, but it didn't affect US models. "A supplier to our Mizushima plant has been impacted but they only supply an engine part for our mini car line. That line has been temporarily shut down due to that situation," spokesperson Alex Fedorak told Autoblog. "That same plant builds the Lancer and i-MiEv and there has been no impact to that line and production continues uninterrupted." Two major quakes hit Kumamoto Prefecture around Kumamoto city in the past week. The first on April 14 measured 6.4 magnitude, and a second on April 16 measured 7.3.
Recharge Wrap-up: Q50 Hybrid video, Iran's biodiesel weed
Mon, Aug 10 2015A new video from Infiniti showcases the Q50 Hybrid's kinetic energy recovery technology, borrowed from Formula One. The video details what is going on inside both the Q50 Hybrid and the racecar when it gathers energy to store for later use, offering better performance than an internal combustion engine alone. In the Q50 Hybrid, that electric energy helps the car accelerate from 0-60 in 4.9 seconds. The video also serves to highlight the relationship between racing innovation and performance and efficiency improvements in production vehicles. See the video above. The 2015 Toyota Prius C has been named a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The compact hybrid, updated for the 2015 model year, has been upgraded from a "poor" to "acceptable" rating in the small overlap crash test, placing it on the Top Safety Pick list. Beginning in the 2016 model year, cars will have to score a "good" rating on the test to make the list, which means further improvements will be necessary if Toyota wants the Prius C to maintain its safety status with the IIHS. John and Lisa Brichetto's Northington Energy LLC received a state loan to produce biodiesel in 2011, but the facility never started production and was later foreclosed upon. In addition to the $142,215 the Brichettos defrauded from Tennessee, the state also invested in utilities and roads, while the US Department of Agriculture also paid for site improvements. Read more from the Times Free Press. Researchers in Iran have developed a way to make biodiesel from a weed. Scientists at the Islamic Azad University have created two liters of biomass for biofuel from flixweed. Flixweed, also called herb-Sophia and tansy mustard, is a non-edible weed that grows in various climates with little to no effort. It was found to contain 22 percent oil and fatty acids, and the biomass contains oxygenated chemical components. "This issue is important because the atomic oxygen in the fuel of a car directly cuts exhaust and the dangerous carbon monoxide and cancerous particles suspended in air," says Mehdi Alami, a chemistry graduate working on the project. Toyota highlights JDM Mark X with special Yellow Label edition
Fri, 05 Sep 2014Never heard of the Toyota Mark X? That's because the Japanese automaker only sells it in its home market (and in China as the Reiz). It's a rear-drive (or all-wheel-drive) sports sedan about the size of a Lexus IS, whose existence is probably why Toyota will never bring the Mark X to North America. The current model has been on the market since 2009, but Toyota is rolling out a series of updates - including the new Yellow Label model pictured here.
Available on the 250G, 250G Four and 250G S trim levels, the Yellow Label gets a special shade of Awaken Yellow paint (though it can be had in black, white or silver as well), with an interior decked out in either yellow or black. It also gets piano lacquer trim, yellow stitching, pink gold accents, special tread plates and other interior equipment upgrades, as well as a unique set of alloys. All of which makes the Toyota Mark X Yellow Label perfect for recreating scenes from Kill Bill without the need to squeeze into yellow leathers. (In fact we wouldn't be surprised to see Toyota doing just that for a promo clip.)
Power comes from a 2.5-liter V6 (and not the larger 3.5 available on the 350S model) channeled through a six-speed automatic to either the rear wheels or all four. Pricing ranges between 2.8 and 3.1 million yen (~$26-30k), representing a premium of about 106k yen ($1k) over non-yellow models. Toyota operates four distinct dealer networks in Japan, and the Mark X is sold through Toyopet stores.
