Statesboro, Georgia, United States
NO RESERVE! 87 Toyota Pickup 2WD Southern Car Great Condition! NO RESERVE! NO RESERVE AUCTION!! BID TO BUY!! ‘87 Toyota Pick-up 2 Wheel Drive Regular cab 22R engine (4 cylinder) (known to be EXTREMELY Durable & Long-Lasting!) Automatic transmission Approx 246K miles Brand New carburetor installed in late 2013 New exhaust (from Catalytic-converter back) Runs great!! I drove it from NE Tennessee (via Chattanooga, and Atlanta) to SE Georgia with no problems. Got 25 MPG!! (doing 70mph). Transmission has a “stuck” shift solenoid (I hear that this is common item), but it shifts fine by simply letting off the accelerator pedal slightly to initiate the shift. Prior owner drove it like this for several years. Probably could use a new set of tires. (Still plenty of tread, but they are old & rubber seems to be a little hard. Slight vibration felt at 50mph. Vibration goes away at speeds either above or below 50mph. Guessing that this would be solved by a set of new tires.) Tires are P205/70R14 Goodyear VIVA 2 1306 date stamp on passenger’s front & driver’s rear (manufactured 13th week of 2006) 0506 on passenger’s rear (manufactured 5th week of 2006) 3705 on driver’s front (manufactured 37th week of 2005) Factory Rims: T14x5.5-JJ Paint looks pretty good. Looks like it was repainted at one point in time but it was a very good repaint. No sign of any accidents. Some peeling of the clearcoat on the hood. A few small dings on the hood and the roof (might be from hail?). & a few scratches & small dings here and there. Bed is solid. Has a few small rust spots along the bed-to-skirt seam (very common for this year). Also has a couple of “rust bubbles on the tailgate. (please see pictures) Bed has the factory double wall sides & prior owner has applied a spray-on or roll-on bed lining material (lining is peeling in a few spots). Truck cab, doors, front fenders, & hood all have ZERO rust! All of the glass is Toyota original & in great shape! One rear tail light is cracked, but it is all there & works fine. Chrome has some minor pitting. Nice interior! Bucket seats are in great shape! Carpets could use cleaning (a few spills). Dash has a few cracks on the top (these could be hidden with a dash pad or “topper”). Gas gauge seems to work, but it tends to be inaccurate when the gas tank level gets below 1/4-1/2 tank. Tank holds approx 12.5 gallons of gas. Interior light works intermittently. Guessing that it either needs a new bulb or might be a loose connection. A/C is all there. Prior owner told me that it works, but that it needs to be recharged. Great truck. Has been very well maintained. Very solid & reliable. Vehicle History Report is CLEAN!! ********************************************************************* DESCRIPTION FROM THE SELLER THAT I BOUGHT IT FROM: 1987 TOYOTA SHORT BED PICK-UP. VIN: JT4RN50R1H0303465 2 WHEEL DRIVE RED WITH GREY INTERIOR 22R ENGINE (4 CYLINDER) AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. HAS A COUPLE SMALL PLACES OF RUST ON THE BED SEAMS ONLY (TYPICAL FOR THESE TRUCKS) & A COUPLE OF “RUST-BUBBLES” ON THE TAILGATE. NOTHING MAJOR. NO RUST ON THE FRONT HALF (CAB, HOOD FENDERS, ETC) AT ALL. VERY CLEAN FOR THE YEAR. MOTOR RUNS GREAT. TRANSMISSION SHIFTS GOOD BUT WHEN YOU GO TO DRIVE AND OVERDRIVE YOU HAVE TO LET OUT OF THE GAS A LITTLE FOR IT TO SHIFT. IT DOES NOT SLIP AT ALL. WAS TOLD IT WAS A SOLENOID ON THE TRANSMISSION THAT CAUSES THIS BUT NEVER REALLY AFFECTED DRIVING SO I NEVER HAD IT FIXED. ALSO HAVE INSTALLED NEW TOYOTA CARBUERATOR AND NEW EXHAUST FROM CAT BACK IN THE PAST FEW WEEKS. HAVE OWNED IT FOR ALMOST 8 YEARS AC WORKS BUT LEAKS DOWN AFTER SUMMER AND NOT USING IT. POWER STEERING WINES SOMETIMES AT 1ST STARTUP WHEN ITS COLD. PAINT ON THIS TRUCK IS PRETTY GOOD EXCEPT FOR THE HOOD SOME SMALL DINGS AND CLEARCOAT COMING OFF. A COUPLE OF SMALL DINGS ON THE CAB ROOF (HAIL?) THIS TRUCK WAS BOUGHT NEW IN KINGSPORT TN AND HAS NEVER LEFT THE COUNTY I LIVE IN. *********************************************************************** Selling because I just bought another truck last week & I now have too many cars. Please do not bid on this item unless you have the funds available to pay for it! (& your spouse’s approval! LOL) $500.00 deposit is required within 24 hours of end of auction. Balance is due in full within 5 calendar days of auction end. I can hold the truck for a few weeks after the auction ends, but it MUST be paid for! Buyer is responsible for all shipping costs and arrangements. Any zero feedback or negative feedback bidders MUST contact me prior to bidding! (...or I will reserve the right to cancel your bid.) Please no “fake bidders”, “recreation bidders” or scams! I have tried to do my very best to accurately and honestly represent this truck. But it is a used vehicle and so it is sold AS IS with No Warranty. I am happy to answer any questions that you might have. :-) Good Luck Bidding!! |

Toyota, Daihatsu and Suzuki team up to unbox some fun-size electric kei vans
Thu, May 18 2023The G7 Summit is happening in Hiroshima, Japan, right now and some automakers have taken the opportunity to announce new projects. Toyota, their wholly owned subsidiary Daihatsu, and Suzuki (of which Toyota owns about 5%) made news with a trio of electric micro-vans built to kei car specifications. The battery-electric vans are part of an industry-wide push toward carbon neutrality. Kei-class vehicles, in addition to limited displacement gasoline engines, have strict dimensional restrictions that allow them to navigate the often narrow streets in dense urban areas. They're also privilege to certain tax breaks and parking benefits. [gallery ids="2474953,2474954"] The engine size rules obviously don't apply to the electric vans, but they will still conform to the size boundaries. Kei vans are often used to solve the "last mile" problem in logistics since they're able to whiz around crowded streets inaccessible by larger commercial vehicles. Daihatsu, which specializes in kei cars, will build the vans and name their variant the HiJet Cargo. The HiJet name has been a consistent one in the company's lineup since 1960, but these new versions will be front-wheel-drive in contrast to the rear-wheel-drive gasoline variants. Toyota's version will be called the Pixis Van, while Suzuki will be named the Every, a nameplate that's been around since 1982. Aside from the badges the vans appear identical. Range is said to be approximately 200km (124 miles) on a single charge. The exhibition was held in conjunction with the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, which former Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda heads. Toyoda stepped down from the top position at the company his grandfather founded in April, but still takes a overseer role as Chairman. Toyoda was criticized for being slow to adopt EVs, and new CEO Koji Sato has emphasized the role of battery-electrics moving forward while still taking a multi-front approach to carbon neutrality with hydrogen and hybrids. These vans were likely in development before Toyoda's retirement, though.
Incrementally better than ever | 2017 Toyota 86 First Drive
Tue, Oct 4 2016We'd love to tell you that the incremental upgrades bestowed upon Toyota's rear-wheel-drive coupe as it made its transition from Scion FR-S to Toyota 86 have transformed it into a perfect sportscar. If only a few more horsepower, shorter rear-end gearing, and tiny aero updates were enough to quell all the complaints that enthusiasts have leveled at the machine since the platform first hit the road in 2012, this review would have been so much more satisfying to write. Sadly, that's not the case. Don't get us wrong. The 86 is still extremely fun to toss around a twisty road. The chassis is impressively balanced, the steering is direct, and the shifter is sweet. Sorry to impart upon you this well-worn trope, but the old adage that it's more fun to drive a slow car fast than it is to drive a fast car slow is, in this case, completely accurate. The 2017 Toyota 86 is nothing if not entertaining. But it's not completely new. It hasn't been transformed. It is, in the end, the same as it ever was. It will take about three minutes of your time to watch the videos below, in which we cover pretty much everything that's new for the 2017 Toyota 86. Toyota 86s equipped with manual transmissions get a five-pony boost to 205 horsepower and 156 pound-feet of torque. Automatic models soldier forth with a carryover 2.0-liter four-cylinder that puts out 200 hp and 151 lb-ft. Apparently, more than half of Scion FR-S buyers chose the automatic. That's unfortunate, as it drains a good deal of the fun out of the 86 experience. Choose the manual and you'll be rewarded with an easy clutch and a rewarding short-throw shifter. And, as we said, five more ponies, courtesy of intake and exhaust tweaks and the polishing of some internal engine components. The only upside to the automatic is improved fuel economy of 24 miles per gallon in the city and 32 on the highway. Manual 86s are EPA-rated at 21/28. Along with the small bump in power, the 2017 86 gets a 4.3:1 rear-end gear ratio in lieu of the old 4.1:1 unit. That ought to translate into a small improvement in acceleration that really only matters on paper. In the real world, on actual roads, the difference is negligible. To eke the most out of the 86, you have to constantly work the shifter and keep the engine north of 5,000 rpm. It's still not particularly quick, but it's definitely fun. There's plenty of noise inside the 86, from the wind, the road, and the engine.
