2011 - Toyota Tacoma on 2040-cars
Ulm, Arkansas, United States

We hate to sell this great truck but we need to get out of the payment so it must go. We have already bought a used vehicle and need to sell this one quickly to get the sales tax credit. This is a 2011 Toyota Tacoma double cab with 4 doors, exterior brown and interior tan color. It is a 4 cyl, 2wd and the 4 cyl has plenty of power. I have sometimes got 22 mpg on highway but 20 most of time and around 16 around town. The truck has cloth interior, cd player, heat and air, cruise, wheel upgrade was a $800 upgrade. We recently replaced the front catalytic converter at a muffler shop. Toyota wanted $2400 for this and the muffler charged $150 so it was an easy decision for us. We just put brakes on and replaced the front tires. They are Dunlops and the rear tires are Fuzion and have about half the tread left on them. We had a tire that was not repairable so we just replaced two at that time--drives fine and no noise or problems. We are the original owners. The truck had some door damage when a guy backed out and hit me as I was driving through a parking lot--his hitch hit the door and Stadium Auto Body here in Jonesboro did the repairs--you can't tell where it was hit. There is a small rub spot on dash as shown in pics. Might could be touched up but we have not tried. The tailgate has some scratches and small indentations from wife trying to pull a small trailer to pick up some furniture and she left the tailgate down. We have a $1000 deductible so we did not file and we know truck will sell lower because of this but it's not even noticeable from a little ways off. We have looked locally and cant find any of these trucks under $20,000. we are going to start at 16,200 with no reserve. The truck is financed through Toyota Motor Credit so there will need to be a check for payoff and a cash or cashiers check to us. There is a rear sliding back glass and the back up camera is one thing that will be very hard to give up--love that thing! Truck has 96,500 miles and will go up but not much. My wife has been the driver and is 55yrs old since the day we purchased. We honestly love the truck but we need to not have a payment. Great truck for someone, great color, made to look like 4wd but it is 2wd. Truck has normal wear, a few scratches here and there--its not new! We live in Jonesboro, AR and we would be willing to drive for delivery up to 200 miles--otherwise you will need to pick up. Please do not bid unless you plan to pay--we need to get out of payment so please don't mess us up. We appreciate you looking--we probably forgot something so just ask. There are no known issues with truck other than those disclosed. We will leave the nice rubber floor mats and the towing hitch if you want it. Truck is for sale locally but as soon as we receive a bid it is ebay auction only--if it sells before a bid is placed we will end the auction. We require a $300 deposit and payment in 3 days unless you make prior arrangements with us. We will contact you with payoff info and the Toyota Financial paperwork. Thanks! Email us with any questions--thanks for looking!

Linde spending $4.3 million on two new hydrogen stations in California
Wed, Aug 6 2014If California is going to sink millions upon millions to expand its hydrogen-refueling infrastructure, shouldn't at least some of that infrastructure be operated by a company that actually produces hydrogen fuel? Why, yes, and that's the case with Linde North America. The company has announced it will build two publicly-accessible hydrogen stations in Northern California, courtesy of a $4.3 million grant from the California Energy Commission (CEC). One of the stations will be at Oakland International Airport while the other will be about 20 miles east in San Ramon, next to Toyota's regional office and parts distribution center for the San Francisco Bay Area. That's only fitting, considering that Toyota is going to release a production fuel cell vehicle next year, first in Japan, then in the US (it will be limited to California at the beginning). The California Air Resources Board recently outlined the Golden State's intention to spend $50 million on getting 28 hydrogen refueling stations up and running by the end of next year and as many as 100 new stations added during the next decade. A large chunk of those (19, to be exact) will be built through a partnership betweetn Toyota and FirstElement Fuel Inc., so things are happening. Check out Linde's press release below. Linde to build two additional retail hydrogen fueling stations in northern California - Receives $4 million grant from California Energy Commission - Fueling stations slated for Oakland International Airport and San Ramon MURRAY HILL, N.J., and NEW PROVIDENCE, N.J., Aug. 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The California Energy Commission (CEC) awarded $4.3 million to Linde North America to construct retail hydrogen fueling stations in Northern California. The stations will be located at the Oakland International Airport and on Toyota owned property in San Ramon, California, adjacent to Toyota's San Francisco Regional Office and Parts Distribution Center. The award is part of $46.6 million funding program the CEC has committed this year to expand the retail hydrogen fueling infrastructure within the state. The grants, made through CEC's Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Program, were made to eight applicants and will add 13 new hydrogen fueling locations in Northern California and 15 in Southern California, strategically located to create a refueling network along major corridors and in regional centers.
Why Lexus shies away from plug-in hybrids
Mon, Apr 20 2015Lexus may have softened its stance a bit from the anti plug-in vehicle ads the Toyota luxury badge ran last year, but at least one executive from the company casts a pretty critical eye towards the concept as a way to cut both emissions and refueling costs. In fact, Lexus doesn't really buy the fact that buyers of plug-in hybrids are really looking to save both gas and the environment, Green Car Reports says, citing an interview at the recent New York Auto Show with Lexus executive Mark Templin. Templin also said hydrogen fuel-cell technology may be a better way to edge towards zero emissions. Templin decried plug-in hybrid technology because it adds weight to vehicles, which contributes to poor emissions figures in the process. He added that plug-in vehicle buyers are motivated more by potential tax credits and solo driving rights in high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes than cutting back on fuel use. Last summer, Lexus ran an supposedly tongue-in-cheek print ad poking fun at how long it takes to charge a plug-in vehicle and how using air conditioning can shorten a car's charging range. Last spring, Lexus had to backpedal from an anti-electric ad it ran that had serious mistakes about hydrogen infrastructure. News Source: Green Car Reports Green Lexus Toyota Hybrid PHEV
Lexus takes aim at electric vehicles, again
Wed, Oct 12 2016Lexus is once again taking aim at plug-in vehicles by emphasizing the perceived challenges of recharging batteries, rather than simply filling up with gas or hydrogen. Only this time, Toyota's luxury division appears to be zigging while everyone else is zagging. Of course, the nameplate can use all the help it can get when it comes to hybrid sales. First highlighted by Green Car Reports, Lexus has added a banner to the website of its hybrid vehicles that says "Always Charged. Always Ready." That's a not-so-veiled shot at plug-in vehicles, a sector where Toyota has minimal exposure. Lexus also notes of its hybrid vehicles that there's "nothing to plug in." Of course, there may be sour grapes at play. Through September, sales of its five hybrid models in the US dropped 17 percent from a year earlier to about 21,500 units, and September was particularly tough as hybrid sales plunged 34 percent to almost 1,800 units. Even so, the third quarter likely represented a record when it came to plug-in vehicle sales. We say "likely" because Tesla doesn't break out its US sales, and not all automakers disclose sales of their plug-ins. We calculate that sales for the quarter were at about 36,000 vehicles, up 38 percent from a year earlier. For now, Lexus doesn't sell a fuel-cell model, though it may sell a fuel-cell version of the Lexus LS full-size sedan. Toyota, of course, offers the Mirai, which has moved about 710 units this year. Lexus has gone down this proverbial road before. In 2014, the brand unveiled a similar campaign that highlighted how long it took to recharge EVs, and was ultimately taken to task by electric-vehicle advocates Plug-In America. Lexus apologized for offending anyone and said it'd review content related to hybrid advertising. Doesn't seem like an apology is in order this time out, but that doesn't mean that it's a good strategy.
