I have a 2009 SR5 extended (access) cab tacoma with 51,000 miles, the arrangement with a 6 foot bed and jump seats. It is a 5-speed manual and four wheel drive part-time with a two-speed transfer case, shift on the fly. It is the 4-cylinder, but supercharged professionally by Underdog Racing Developments about a year and a half ago, the dyno is here: http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff262/Gadget2317/URD2TRTQ.jpg

The supercharger got it to 248 horsepower to the wheels. The normal v6 tacomas get about 208. This thing will move in a hurry, and it will also do great on gas if you can keep off of the accelerator.

It has a ton of upgrades, too. The main reason I'm looking to sell is that I need to get something with a v8 to tow with. I'm the original owner, I've had the truck for four years, and it's in great shape, I've loved it. I'm not totally certain I'm even willing to sell, but I'm putting out feelers.

Supercharged horsepower/torque at wheels: 248hp/233 lb-ft torque
Gas mileage of a 4-cylinder, power of a six!
Lifted 2" correctly, tires are 32" all-terrains

Have original parts where applicable if they are desired, including suspension

Upgrades:
- SR5 Package (keyless entry, window tint, leather steering wheel, etc)
- $4600 - URD Supercharger installed by URD themselves, they are the premier Tacoma/4Runner supercharger builders (urdusa.com)
- $1000 - Icon Extended Travel front coilovers, adjust the height up and down to suit your preference, from stock to 2.5" of lift, rides like a cadillac, handles great too, drive over bumps like they aren't there
- $500 - Built Right upper control arms - paired with the above coilovers, these allow for an extra 3/4" suspension travel. Great for hunting or offroad. You need new control arms on tacomas to ensure any sort of lift keeps everything right.
- $300 - OME Rear Shocks, allowing for extra travel and better ride damping
- $300 - OME Dakar Rear Leaf pack. The back of the truck was lifted right, with a new leaf pack that provides a great ride, about 2" of lift, but still retains load carrying capacity - haul as much or more than a stock tacoma!
- All stainless longer brake lines installed in rear to accomodate the extra travel and lift, as well
- $400 - HD-SKO super strong rock sliders. These are like step bars, except you can lift the whole truck with them, and they will protect you if you decide to offroad
- $900 - Plate steel bumper - This is a solid bumper, definite deer protection. It only adds about 50 pounds of weight, but you are protected from fender benders, rocks, deer, anything really. Includes a winch mounting area (but no winch is installed), as well as d-ring shackles up front and two points to use a hi-lift jack.
- $200 - AdvMonster 60 watt LED offroad lights - these guys are BRIGHT!
- $700 - Undercover tonneau cover - weighs 40 lbs, easy to take on and off, keeps your stuff locked and dry
- 32" Wrangler Duratracs with about half tread left - these tires are fantastic, they grip in anything, be it mud, snow, dirt, rain, dry pavement, there's very little noise, and they still get good mileage. There's a reason they're so expensive! This also includes one on the spare, I did it right and replaced all 5 tires. These tires are about an inch bigger than stock.
- CB Radio, antenna can be screwed into undercover or the antenna mount in the bed rail, they're both present
- Wet okole neoprene seat covers, very nice, seats underneath are perfect

I don't think I forgot anything. This is a great truck, it's really a pleasure to drive. It hauls butt and still gets good mileage, you could easily use it to offroad or go hunting, and still ride up to the office the next day. It is cosmetically perfect, aside from some light scratches that could easily be buffed out if you wanted to make it perfect. I've had it four years, and I'm ready to go ahead and get a full-size because I need to tow other vehicles.  (This truck does have a tow hitch and will tow.)

Tesla pulling plug on Toyota RAV4 EV battery deal

Mon, 12 May 2014

The future of the Toyota RAV4 EV appears to be in doubt. Tesla supplies the EVs battery packs, and it says that production ends later this year.
"Toyota is expected to end the current RAV4 EV model this year," Tesla said in its quarterly financial filing obtained by Bloomberg. "Our production activities under this program are expected to end in 2014," the company said.
This timeline fits closely with the original production plans for the RAV4 EV. When the $100-million project was first announced, Tesla said that it expected to supply battery packs for the vehicle from 2012 to 2014. Building components for the Japanese automaker continues to bring in money, though. In the company's Q1 2014 letter to shareholders, it said: "Automotive revenue included $15 million of Toyota powertrain sales." According to Bloomberg, Toyota has sold just 1,594 RAV4 EV models from 2012 through April 2014. Initially, the business had estimated that it would sell 2,600 units of the electrified crossover.

Autocar pits McLaren MP4-12C against turbo Toyota GT86

Thu, 29 Aug 2013

The Toyota GT86, in all of its forms, is one of the best-handling cars money can buy, a trait that can put a smile on the faces of all but the most jaded car enthusiasts. But if good handling isn't what they're looking for, then what is? Our first guess would have to be more power, something the 200-horsepower Toyota would benefit from. Autocar tries out that theory by driving two turbocharged GT86s on track, then pitting the more powerful one against the 616-hp McLaren MP4-12C in a track battle.
The first GT86 turbo Autocar's Steve Sutcliffe drives makes around 255 rear-wheel horsepower and a bucket-load more torque than the stock car. That's plenty of power to either have a lot of fun or get into a lot of trouble. But the GT86 that Sutcliffe tails in the McLaren is race-prepped, stripped to the bone and wears slicks to harness a heavy-hitting 335 hp at the wheel. Weighing in at under 2,500 pounds, the Toyota can't overcome the MP4-12C's power-to-weight ratio of 5.3 pounds per horsepower, but it comes pretty close.

Child cobalt miners: Automakers pledge ethical minerals sourcing for EVs

Wed, Nov 29 2017

BERLIN - Leading carmakers including Volkswagen and Toyota pledged on Wednesday to uphold ethical and socially responsible standards in their purchases of minerals for an expected boom in electric vehicle production. Demand for minerals such as cobalt, graphite and lithium is forecast to soar in the coming years as governments crack down on vehicle pollution and carmakers step up their investments in electric models. To cover its plans for more than 80 new models by 2025, Volkswagen alone is looking for partners in China, Europe and North America to provide battery cells and related technology worth more than 50 billion euros ($59 billion). Talks with major cobalt producers, including Glencore, at VW's Wolfsburg headquarters last week ended without a deal. More than half of the world's cobalt comes from the Democratic Republic of Congo, a country racked by political instability and legal opacity, and where child labor is used in mines. On Wednesday, a group of 10 leading passenger-car and truck manufacturers announced an initiative to jointly identify and address ethical, environmental, human and labor rights issues in raw materials sourcing. The partnership dubbed "Drive Sustainability" consists of VW, Toyota Motor Europe, Ford, Daimler, BMW, Honda, Jaguar Land Rover, Volvo Cars and truckmakers Scania and Volvo. The alliance "will assess the risks posed by the top raw materials (such as mica, cobalt, rubber and leather) in the automotive sector," said Stefan Crets of the CSR Europe business network. "This will allow Drive Sustainability to identify the most impactful activities to pursue" to address issues within the supply chain.Reporting by Andreas Cremer.Related Video: Image Credit: Michael Robinson Chavez/The Washington Post via Getty Images Green BMW Ford Honda Jaguar Land Rover Mercedes-Benz Automakers Toyota Volkswagen Volvo Green Automakers Green Culture Electric Scania ethics mining
