2006 Toyota Tacoma, Sr5 Package, Access Cab Pickup 4-door 2.7l With Tonneau on 2040-cars
Pompano Beach, Florida, United States
You
are looking at a 2006 Toyota Tacoma Access Cab (2 door with rear bench seats) SR5
package, and an added hard tonneau. I am
the first and only owner and a non-smoker.
I am reluctantly selling it because I needed a 4 seat vehicle and bought
a Honda Pilot. Clean title in hand.
Add ons: I had the tonneau installed at Ideal Automotive when I first bought the truck and it has been there since, so the bed is pristine. In the bed area I installed a removable carpeted box at the rear which is great for holding items so they don’t slide around (tackle box, groceries etc.). The height is matched by a carpeted brace in from of the wheel wells, and the result is a perfect platform to transport sheet goods flat and stable. As a woodworker I transported expensive sheet goods - this worked perfectly. I added a decent Panasonic stereo to have aux in and usb, with a 4 channel amp under the passenger seat and upgraded speakers (6 total). It does not thump but it sounds much better than stock. Mileage / Condition: I’m not about trying to
fool anyone, and I’m not a dealership that sells with no conscience, so here
are the known issues. 174,000 miles is a
lot ... (for a Ford, but maybe not for a Toyota), but the truck drives basically
the way it did the day I drove it off the lot new. I drive to Miami and West Palm Beach, Tampa
and Orlando for work, and as a musician I drive long trips for gigs - so it is
largely highway miles for what that is worth.
I’ve had servicing done at the dealership and they last couple times in
they told me it has a valve cover gasket leak, which causes an exhaust smell on
start up. There are zero drips or drops on
our painted concrete driveway under this truck - never have been. The engine and drive train never needed
significant work, a tune up or two, but I did have the universal joints in the
drive shaft a while back by the dealership. As for the
body, I was in a rearender that required replacement of the grille / lights, hood,
and maybe a front quarter panel. Not a
total certainly, but I was glad to have insurance. It was professionally done by insurance shop
and frankly the appearance was improved. The engine was unaffected. There is a small dent near the top of the
tail gate - see the pics. In he interior my foot wore through the carpet by the gas pedal - sorry. Again - see the pics. Features:

10 automakers sued over keyless ignitions
Thu, Aug 27 2015Keyless ignition has rapidly proliferated throughout the auto industry to become a fairly normal feature on new cars. It's supposed to offer the convenience of keeping the fob in your pocket and just pressing a button to drive away. However, ten major automakers are now being sued in US District Court over claims that the system is dangerous, Reuters reports. The suit alleges that people are forgetting to shut off the engine, and the lack of an idle timer is the cause for 13 deaths by carbon monoxide poisoning and multiple injuries. The suit currently includes 28 plaintiffs, according to Reuters, but the lawyers are asking for class-action status to potentially add many more. The case goes after a major swath of the industry, including BMW, Daimler, FCA, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Nissan, Toyota, and Volkswagen, plus their related brands like Acura, Infiniti, Mini, and Lexus. In all, over five million vehicles are affected. The assertion here is that people walk away from their vehicle without shutting it off because they believe the engine shuts off automatically. If parked in a garage, carbon monoxide can build up, leading to poisoning. The lawyers claim automakers know this is a problem and also cite 27 complaints to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration about the issue, according to Reuters. The plaintiffs are asking for an automatic shut-off and damages from the companies. These concerns have come up before, though. Toyota previously faced a lawsuit over a carbon monoxide death after a woman accidentally left her Lexus running. Also earlier this year, GM recalled 64,186 examples of the 2011-2013 Chevrolet Volt because owners weren't shutting them off. The problem resulted in two injuries, and the company released a software update to limit the idling time.
Why Toyota Camry's Korea Car of the Year win is a big-time upset
Tue, 26 Feb 2013The 2013 Toyota Camry is officially the car of the year in Korea. The country's motoring press graced the Japanese sedan with the honor for the first time, officially marking a shift in prevailing Korean attitudes toward Japan and its products. According to industry analysts, buyers in the country are no longer simply choosing their purchases based on whether or not they're made in South Korea, but rather based on quality and personal choice. That's a big jump from a few years ago, when buyers viewed their purchases through a patriotic lens.
The Camry managed to edge out a total of 44 other cars, including hardware from both Hyundai and Kia, to become the first foreign vehicle to take home the Korea Automobile Journalist Association's Car of the Year award. As The Detroit News points out, just 10 years ago, domestic manufacturers held some 99 percent of the Korean car market. But a change in trade regulations has opened up the country considerably, and buyers now have access to a wide range of products from around the globe. As a result, Hyundai and Kia have countered by cutting prices in an attempt to keep their grip on the market.
