2006 Toyota Tacoma Base Extended Cab Pickup 4-door 4.0l 4x4 Sr5 on 2040-cars
Greensburg, Pennsylvania, United States
This auction is for a 2006 Toyota Tacoma Access Cab SR5 4x4. The truck has a 4.0L V6 engine and automatic transmission with 169k miles. It runs and drives great with no known mechanical issues. The steering and suspension seem to be tight and it runs and drives down the road with no shimmies, shakes, rattles, etc. The engine runs well and smooth and the transmission shifts as it should. The four wheel drive engages and disengages properly and works fine. The air conditioning blows ice cold and all of the power options work as they should. The truck is as traded, other than a detail, and has not been thoroughly checked over by us, but we have driven it a bit and everything seems to be up to par. It is a one owner truck that's seems to have been kept up with. I don't see any problem driving the truck wherever you need to go. The body is nice for the miles and the paint shines nice still, but there are numerous stone chips, small imperfections, a few small dings, etc. This is all normal stuff for a PA truck with these miles, I just want to make sure I list everything. The frame and undercarriage were undercoated and show just normal PA surface rust. I didn't notice any rot or anything that would be an issue. The wheels are nice, but do show a little typical Toyota wheel erosion starting, and all four matching tires have 50-70% tread. The interior is clean and all in good condition. There is no substantial excess wear to the interior. Overall the truck is a nice 169k mile Tacoma with a lot of life left. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. The truck is nice, but keep the miles and age in mind when bidding. This is a NO RESERVE AUCTION, SO BID TO WIN. I will do my best answering any questions and providing additional pictures. We are a small, reputable dealer that has been servicing the local area for 50 years. |

Toyota and Lexus show off advanced safety research vehicle [w/video]
Tue, 08 Jan 2013While Google and Audi explore the possibilities of autonomous vehicles, Toyota and its Lexus division are studying the intermediate step of vehicles equipped with a deep suite of technology that help drivers make the best decisions. Introduced at this week's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the Lexus advanced safety research vehicle is an LS sedan fitted with three high-def color cameras to detect objects up to almost 500 feet away, 360-degree Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) lasers that can detect objects up to 220 feet away, three radar units to keep track of other vehicles at intersections, a precision odometer on the rear wheel, GPS that estimates orientation and an accelerometer.
Currently testing at a purpose-built 8.6 acre urban testing ground at the Higashi-Fuji Technical Center in Susono, Japan the Toyota research vehicle is being used to study how to make better drivers, as well as figuring out how to reduce crashes as the industry's journey through passive and active safety systems progresses. In the event of a crash, new rescue systems are also being tested.
Further investment is being put into the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) that would use shortwave signals to harness information from the car and from other vehicles on the road, as well as roadside infrastructure and even pedestrians. Toyota reasons it could then build a picture of interactions and, for instance, alert the driver to a potential collision at a blind intersection.
Toyota Auris gets new Touring Sports variant
Tue, 19 Feb 2013Toyota showed off the Touring Sports version of the Auris next to the newly introduced Auris Hybrid at last year's Paris Motor Show, but didn't say much about it. Six months later, just ahead of the Geneva Motor Show, the company is crowing about that wagon going on sale with the Hybrid Synergy Drive, creating the Auris Touring Sports Hybrid.
The hauling version of the exceptionally popular Auris hatchback doesn't just add a hybrid wagon to the compact segment, Toyota says it offers class-leading load capacity of 1,658 liters with the Easy-Flat one-touch rear seats down. With the rear seats up, it offers 530 liters. The little big gulp is possible because the hybrid batteries have been placed under the rear seats instead of being in the luggage area.
It looks the same as the hatchback save for the fact that it's 285 millimeters (11.2 inches) longer behind the C pillar, has a redesigned tailgate and a lower load floor. Engines beyond the hybrid will match the rest of the lineup: 1.3-liter and 1.6-liter gasoline engines and a 1.4-liter D-4D diesel. There's a chance we'll see it in Geneva, if we don't there's a press release below to tell you all about it.
Toyota, Ford decide to end hybrid collaboration before it starts
Tue, 23 Jul 2013Not all so-called Memorandum of Understanding pacts end in actual collaborations. For instance, after a two-year "feasibility study," Toyota and Ford have just announced that they will not be developing hybrid systems for use in light trucks and SUVs as previously planned, and the two automakers will instead continue to develop their own hybrid technology independently.
The would-be collaboration was first announced in August of 2011, and would have seen a rear-wheel-drive hybrid platform that would "improve the efficiency of trucks and SUVs while still allowing them to be driven in the way customers expect," according to our initial post on the topic.
Keep in mind that this announcement isn't to say we shouldn't expect hybrid pickups and SUVs from the two automakers, but that they probably aren't coming very soon - Ford says it will have a system "before the end of this decade" and we haven't heard much from Toyota on the hybrid truck front since the 2008 A-BAT Concept (pictured above) - and that they will not share any components between them (and they never have, for what it's worth).
