I have owned this truck for 5 or 6 years and since it had 59K miles on it. Since I bought this truck I have added: 1.5" leveling kit, vent visors, bug shield, sprayed in bed liner, Husky custom molded floor liners, K&N air intake, optima red top battery, leer truck cap, nerf bars, Sony head unit with iPhone port, Boston Acoustic speakers in all 4 doors, and an 8" bass tube.
I have never had one issue with this truck but I have replaced most of the wear items in the front suspension for preventative maitnence. At 100K miles I took off factory inner and outer tie rods and upper and lower ball joints and replaced them with Moog Chasis greasable replacements (much better than stock). I also put on the 31" BFG AT's at that time. I still have all the factory parts for backup and they obviously go with the truck as well. About two years ago Toyota recalled this truck to check the frame. After the inspection, which found zero rust, the frame was coated with a waxy feeling grease and an additional 10 years added to the warrenty of the frame. So this frame has about 8 years of warrenty left. I would keep this truck but a wife and three kids make it a little snug, I now have a full size. I take good care of my vehicles and this one is no exception (it drives like a new one) but it is also 10 years old so it has some light bumps and dings here and there. You can probably find a stone chip or two as well. It is in great condition for its age and has always been a great truck. I am confident the new owner will be more than satisfied. Toyota recalling 20k 2014 and 2015 cars and CUVs with 3.5L engines
Thu, 18 Sep 2014Toyota has announced a recall of roughly 20,000 vehicles covering the 2014 Avalon, Camry, Highlander (pictured) and Sienna, as well as the 2015 Lexus RX luxury crossover. The affected vehicles are all powered the 2GR-FE engine, which in layman's terms, is Toyota's well-regarded 3.5-liter V6.
According to Toyota's statement, a parts supplier might not have welded "the end cap on the right-hand fuel delivery pipe in the engine compartment" correctly, meaning fuel could leak. Leaking fuel, of course, increases the chance of an engine fire. That said, no fires, crashes or injuries have been reported due to the issue.
Owners will be notified to report to dealers, where techs will check the fuel delivery pipe and fit a replacement part as necessary.
Toyota tops Kelley Blue Book's Resale Value Awards
Tue, 27 Nov 2012Kelley Blue Book announced its annual Best Resale Value Award winners, and we weren't too surprised to see the list dominated by Japanese automakers - mainly Toyota and Honda. KBB hands out the awards based on the projected residual value of mostly all 2013 model year vehicles, and Toyota skated home with a number of awards including 10 of the 22 overall categories and having five of its products in the top 10 for models with best resale value. KBB's Best Resale Value Awards were announced in the same week as the ALG Residual Value Awards, and there were many similarities between both lists, especially when it came to Toyota.
To come up with its winners, KBB measures depreciation over the first five years of ownership, and looks for the cars it expects to hold its value the best after this time; on average, the report says the 2013 model year vehicles will lose 61.8 percent of its value in five years. Of the 22 categories, 15 slots were filled by Toyota, Honda and Nissan products, while the Camaro and Porsche (Cayenne and Panamera) each took home a pair of awards. If Toyota has anything to be upset about in this list of cars, it's that categories for Hybrid/Alternative Energy Car and Electric Vehicle went to the Ford Fusion and Chevrolet Volt, respectively.

Thu, Sep 10 2015The Toyota Hilux might not be sold in the US, but Toyota's venerable pickup has an international reputation of being able to go anywhere and do just about anything. The trucks aren't really known for their speed, though, at least until Toyota South Africa Motorsport's new, one-off project. This bruiser ditches the usual diesel engine and replaces it with an unrestricted 5.0-liter V8 from a Lexus IS F making 449 horsepower. Of course, it takes more than power to handle the rigors of high speed off-roading. The motorsport team also adds bigger, competition-spec brakes, fully adjustable dampers, new springs, and retuned gearing to make the truck look practically ready for the Dakar Rally. The gearbox is really the only part that carries over. The V8 gives the special Hilux quite a mean growl, too. With the new Tacoma just launching in the US, maybe the engineers at TRD need to apply this same concept over here for its own Lexus-engined, one-off pickup.
