1998 Toyota Tacoma Dlx Standard Cab Pickup 2-door 2.4l on 2040-cars
Brookville, Pennsylvania, United States
Here is a very clean 1998 Toyota truck for sale! This is a NON-SMOKER truck! This truck was in Tenn. and fl. It has been in PA for less then 3 years. I undercoated it when I purchased it.It still looks very nice up underneath. It only has 89300 miles on it with lots of life left in it. I did put aftermarket cruise on it. The ac blows cold. I have 2 new tires on rims that go with it.The front were new this spring and the rear will need replaced soon.I also have an aluminum truck cap that goes with it. Everything works as it should. The paint is a little dual, but should buff to a shine. I may polish it by the time it sells. This is the factory finish with no paint work.It does have some minor chips. No evidence of any accidents. I am only selling it because I bought a new Toyota double cab 2wd.I bought this truck with 37217 mile on it.This is not a perfect truck but it is a very nice truck that will last a good long while!! If you have any questions, Please feel free to call before bidding. No question is a stupid one. Please only bid if you intend to buy. It is a real problem to resolve after the fact. Please come and look at it in person. You won't be wasting a trip. This will have a buy it now price and is also for sale locally for the buy it now price. With that in mind if you want the truck, you may not want to wait till the end of the auction because it may not be available!!!!Please don't call me upset because I sold it. Carmakers, NHTSA to unveil auto-emergency braking agreement tomorrow
Wed, Mar 16 2016Happy St. Patrick's Day Eve. Tomorrow, there will be green beer, corned beef and cabbage, and automatic emergency braking for all. Weird combo, we know. But on St. Patty's we can expect an official announcement from a pact of automakers making auto-braking systems standard equipment by 2022. That's per a report from Reuters, which cites three sources familiar with the plans. Originally announced in September 2015 by 10 automakers and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the agreement is expected to be even larger when the details are unveiled tomorrow. According to Reuters, the manufacturers of 99 percent of the US domestic market's vehicles will be represented by the new agreement. It's believed that standard AEB systems could prevent thousands of accidents across the country. Expect more on the official announcement when it's made. Related Video:
Watch this video diary of a 900-hp Toyota Supra build
Sat, 08 Jun 2013If you've ever looked at a car with nearly 1,000 horsepower and wondered why anyone needs that amount of thrust, you may want to take a look at the video below. In it, one gentleman details his descent into Toyota Supra madness, starting with a pristine factory example and stumbling down the rabbit hole of modification. What makes this particular clip interesting is just how honest the owner is as he explains the evolution of his car. He doesn't just prattle off a list of parts like he's reading the menu at an IHOP.
Instead, he painstakingly pulls us through the car's growth, detailing each iteration and what pushed him to the next stage of the build every time. From this point of view, it looks less like someone walked into a shop and lit a massive stack of $100 bills on fire and more like a quasi-logical progression of events. Or at least it does to me. You can check out the build in the video below, complete with plenty of Fast and the Furious references and racing. Win, win, win.
Scion was slain by Toyota, not the Great Recession
Wed, Feb 3 2016Scion didn't have to go down like this. Through the magic of hindsight and hubris, it's easier to see what went wrong. And what might have been. What the industry should understand is this: Scion wasn't a losing proposition from the get-go. Its death is due to negligence and apathy. This is more than just the failure of a sub-brand. It's the failure of a company to deliver new and compelling products over an extended period of time. Toyota will point to the Great Recession as the reason it hedged its bets and withdrew funding for new vehicles, instead of using that as an opportunity to redouble efforts. This was as good as a death warrant, although myopically no one realized it at the time. Sadly, GM's Saturn experiment was a road map for this exact form of failure. No one at Toyota seemed to think the Saturn experience was worth protecting their experimental brand from. Or they weren't heard. Brands live and die on product. Somehow, Scion convinced itself that its real success metric was a youthful demographic of buyers. It seems like this was used to gauge the overall health of the brand. Look at the aging and uncompetitive tC, which Scion proudly noted had a 29-year-old average buyer. That fails to take into account its lack of curb appeal and flagging sales. Who cares if the declining number of people buying your cars are younger? Toyota is going to kill the tC thirteen years [And two indifferent generations ... - Ed.] after it was introduced. In that time, Honda has come out with three entirely new generations of the Civic. Scion wasn't a losing proposition from the get-go. Its death is due to negligence and apathy. At launch, the brand could have gone a few different ways. The xB was plucky, interesting, and useful – a tough mix of ephemeral characteristics – but the xA didn't offer much except a thin veneer of self-consciously applied attitude. That's ok; it was cute. Enter the tC, which managed to combine sporty pretensions with decent cost. It took on the Civic Coupe in the contest for coolness, and usually managed to win. More importantly, an explicit brand value early on was a desire to avoid second generations of any of its models, promising a continually evolving and fresh lineup. At this point, the road splits. Down one lane lies the Scion that could have been. After a short but reasonable product lifecycle, it would have renewed the entire lineup.
