Okay so heres a real sweet opportunity for a buyer that knows what is here. This is a 1997 Toyota Tacoma Automatic with only 68k miles on the 2.4L I4 that is all original.
I'll tell the story of how this came about. Originally from upstate New York, it was an old mans truck that he bought brand new in 1997, It was driven once or twice a week when his daughter or son came to visit. The rest of the time the truck was garaged. So until 2010 this continued until he passed, his family then sold this tacoma to my father with 17k original miles on it. This is when the exhaust, brakes, tires, cap, rotor, wires, battery, shocks, struts, timing belt checked, timing tuned, tranny fluid changed, and a general tune up was performed by a professional shop. December 2011 my father sold me the truck and I had plugs, wires, cap, and rotor done again because we are particular with performance and maintenance.

Since then I have had 16" Rage wheels put on with a 55 profile Yoko Avid tires (65% tread on all four) rather than the stock 15" with 65 tires to help handling by discount tire in Katy, Texas (where my father lives now). Also the stereo deck has been replaced with a pioneer deck with an auxiliary input and the door speakers have been replaced with Kenwoods that made the stereo sound much better than the stock setup. other than that it is stock. the Leer riser Camper cap was purchased new from the Leer headquarters in PA and color matched in 2010.

The body and undercarriage has not been sprayed and has no rust at all. This isn't to say there aren't a amount of small scratches consistent with the age of this truck. The worst of the body is a dent in the rear right down by the bumper (pictured). Most of the scratches have been touched up. I try to describe everything 100% as not to mislead or misrepresent, more pictures upon request.
Oil has been changed religiously at least every three thousand miles along with the oil and air filter.
Most of the mileage since 2010 has been highway (from NY to TX thrice, NY to AZ thrice) plus various other road trips.

A new bolt-in bed liner was installed in 2010 and is in great shape.
The camper shell has had some interior work done to make camping very convenient, a three piece deck that pulls out at bed level and a tent conversion for the back (pictured). none of this gets in the way of original functionality and can be easily removed if desired.

There is 35% tint installed on the side windows and a 5" visor on the windshield.
A power inverter has been installed under the passenger side seat Husky 450 Watts 2 plugs.

The interior is very clean and never smoked in. (I worked at a carwash and detail shop, the the truck has been washed and cleaned inside every week since 2010) as well as a clay bar treatment, correction cream, and hand wax, 2 months ago.

The original steel wheels and metal hubcaps are also included with two studded snow tires mounted that only have one season on them (about 95% tread).

A/C blows freezing, heats great too.

I would be happy to have a mechanic of your choice look at the truck if you set it up.

Anyone who knows these trucks and the 2.4 I4 in them knows that with regular maintenance they will run like new until 300k easy.
The reason for my selling this truck is that I want an Small SUV or wagon (more seats)

I am open to very limited trades, strictly, 2004-2008 subaru forester xt, legacy gt wagon, outback gt wagon, under 125k, 5speed. that's it.

If you are interested please call me for more information or to come look at it. The truck is located in Flagstaff. My number is 518-956-4676 and the name is Dillon. Feel free to contact me for anything regarding the truck.

The truck is for sale locally, I reserve the right to end this auction early.

Pickup required. I may deliver pretty much anywhere in the country if gas is paid, contact me prior to auction end for more information. $500 deposit required at auction end, full payment required at pickup/drop off or prior on paypal, or 5 days whichever comes first.

The Toyota GT86 Shooting Brake Concept is real

Fri, May 6 2016

As a two-door wagon the shooting brake exists at the unusual but captivating intersection between practicality and sportiness. This Toyota GT86 Shooting Brake Concept is no different – it's a standard GT86, with no mechanical alterations save the grafted-on wagonette roof and hatch. It's fully functional, too, having turned some laps on Toyota's test tracks. It even has the blessing of Tetsuya Tada, the father of the Toyota 86 and its Subaru BRZ and (now rebadged) Scion FR-S, who's been protective of the original GT86 concept to the point of strenuously resisting any serious power upgrades. This isn't the first shooting brake concept we've seen from the Toyobaru twins, but it's the first Toyota-badged one. Subaru brought the Cross Sport Design Concept to the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show. So how did the GT86 Shooting Brake Concept happen? The story, as Toyota tells it, involves the company's Australian design team. They created a 1/4-scale clay model of the shooting brake, and showed it to Tada when he visited in late 2014. He was so impressed, Toyota says, that he had his hand-picked craftsman in Japan bring the idea to full-scale fruition. The Australian design team, in the outdoor-loving spirit of their country, immediately thought that the longer roof would be perfect for carrying surfboards and other unwieldy sports equipment. And it would be. Meanwhile, Tada and the rest of the Toyota corporation want to tamp down expectations. It's a design study, the company says, and it's just "testing the waters." Toyota won't rule anything out, and Mazda recently surprised everyone with the MX-5 RF's unusual and attractive targa model. Maybe in a world where Mazda felt confident enough to introduce the RF, Toyota can be daring enough to bring a sporty wagon to the masses. We can hope, and maybe if we all make enough noise together Toyota will make it a reality. 2014 Toyota 4Runner Limited

Thu, 08 May 2014

What would you say if we told you that outside of Jeep and Land Rover, the best brand for those who want to go off road is Toyota? Sounds remarkable, eh? But the truth is, Toyota's history of providing vehicles for the rougher bits of our blue marble dates back to 1950, barely a decade after Willys built the first Jeeps and only a few years after Land Rover made its big debut with the iconic Series I.
In fact, Toyota's start in off-roaders was with a small contract for providing the US Army with vehicles, during the Korean War. From that, the BJ was spawned. This Jeep-like vehicle evolved into the 20 Series and then into the iconic 40 Series Land Cruiser in the 1960s.
So yes, Toyota knows its way around the trails. While the Land Cruiser, deservedly, gets all the attention thanks to its impressive longevity, we're partial to the 4Runner, which is a far more affordable entry that serves as Toyota's challenger to the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Toyota C-HR stays sharp from prototype to production

Tue, Mar 1 2016

Scion is dead. While the troubled brand was given 13 years to make a case for itself, it never quite succeeded. And that's a shame, because we're pretty confident that this, the production-spec Toyota C-HR would have been one of its biggest hits. Instead, when it arrives in the US, it will be as a Toyota... where it will still likely be a big hit. The new small CUV made its debut after literally years of teasing concepts, the most recent of which was shown late last year in Los Angeles, where it was badged as a Scion. After seeing that car, it's quite clear that Toyota has strained itself to translate its style to the real world. Up front, there's clear inspiration from the Toyota Auris/Scion iM. But aside from the front, the C-HR's biggest inspiration appears to be the Nissan Juke. View 14 Photos It's like Toyota has tried to go even further, though. Its wheel arches are flared even more aggressively and they feed into a strong character line on the lower portion of the doors. In back, Toyota's designers seem to have just rotated the Juke's taillights 180 degrees while they sit below an extremely fast rear window. Said window is integrated into today's latest design trend, a floating roof. Mechanically, the C-HR rides atop Toyota's New Global Architecture, which is Japan's answer to Volkswagen's MQB architecture. Power comes from a hybrid drivetrain, good for a relaxed 120 horsepower. If you don't want hybrid power, Toyota will sell the C-HR with the Euro-market Auris' turbo 1.2-liter engine, but we almost certainly won't see that here in the US. Instead, American drivers will probably be left with nothing but a 2.0-liter, naturally aspirated four-cylinder. That engine will be exclusively paired with a continuously variable transmission that sends power to either the front- or to all four wheels. So there's Juke inspiration, but not in the driving character. Toyota says it will build the C-HR Hybrid in Turkey. We don't know if that facility will handle US-market vehicles or just Europe, but we wouldn't be surprised to see additional facilities come online to produce this stylish little bugger.
