1983 Toyota SR5 4X4 long bed truck, 5 speed manual transmission, <112K miles, single owner, 22R inline 4 cylinder engine, solid front axle, basically original (still have stock radio), garaged, bed never used and protected, and bucket seats covered since new.  Oil changed every 3K miles using genuine Toyota filter (back flow preventer) and Castrol GTX, meticulously maintained inside and out, never in an accident or fender bender, custom hitch, alloy wheels in back and steel rims in front, good rubber all over (including spare). Everything is solid and working as designed.

The cigarette ashtray has been replaced with an insert and digital clock (btw, nonsmoker).  OEM ashtray included.  Dash has been covered and no dash cracks.  Comes with a custom dash matt.  Headliner and sun visors are in great shape.

Body is very clean and solid. The new owner will receive some extra parts for general preventative maintenance, like two new Fram air filters, two new headlamps, fuel filter, two thermostats.

It comes with a nice Brahma shell, painted to the same color. The back cab window opens and has a pass through boot to keep the elements out. It has a bed protector.

Some cosmetic items: the blue decals are peeling up around the edges.  Additionally, there are several areas in the cab in which the blue plastic trim has cracked.  Much of the driver seat belt retractor housing has broken away.  The gaskets around the running lights have some cracks from age.  The cracks have been filled with caulking to minimize any water penetration.

No Air Conditioning; originally purchased in CO (high altitude compensator) so no CA emissions.  More than 9/10 of its life has been in CA.

Thanks for looking.

NHTSA releases updated Takata airbag recalled cars list, but it still has errors

Wed, 22 Oct 2014

Unfortunately, the government's list still contains errors.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued an updated list of vehicle models that it's urging owners to repair under the mushrooming Takata airbag inflator recall. The latest version adds vehicles from new automakers like Subaru and Ford that are missing from the original announcement, and it also removes erroneous entries from General Motors, leaving only the 2005 Saab 9-2X (a reskinned Subaru WRX), and the 2003-2005 Pontiac Vibe, a joint project with Toyota.

Toyota Camry Dragster takes the phrase 'sleeper' to its logical extreme [w/video]

Wed, 05 Nov 2014

Sometimes, looks can be deceiving. This is certainly one of those times, as Toyota successfully trolled the entirety of the media corps at the 2014 SEMA Show by rolling an innocent-looking Camry onto the floor... only to lift literally the entirety of its body to reveal an 850-horsepower, tube-framed dragster. Well, we have been asking for a more driver-oriented Toyota.
While it's designed to go fast in a straight line, the origin of the Camry Dragster's parts might be surprising. The 5.7-liter V8 engine, transmission, rear axle and electronics were plucked from the Toyota Tundra pickup. Toyota Racing Development donated a supercharger, while a wet-nitrous-injection system was also tacked on for that little extra something. Those goodies will help propel this anonymous looking monster through the quarter mile in just 9.8 seconds.
"This is the most extreme build we've ever unveiled at SEMA," said Toyota's motorsports chief Steve Appelbaum said in a statement. "The transformation from seemingly stock Camry to full-blown racecar just shocks the senses. Chuck Wade and the team at Motorsports Technical Center did a truly spectacular job executing the vision of this project."

Subaru to stop building Camry for Toyota in the US

Fri, 09 May 2014

It was back in 2007 that Subaru of Indiana Automotive, under contract from Subaru minority shareholder Toyota, built the first Toyota Camry at its plant in Lafayette, Indiana. Rumblings of the end of that contract work have been around for a while, as Subaru talked of expanding capacity to build more units and add a line for the Impreza, and Toyota talked of moving Camry production to its Georgetown, KY plant. The news was official internally last November when SIA Executive Vice President Tom Easterday told the Louisville Courier-Journal that Camry production would end. Now, Automotive News reports that both automakers have admitted publicly that the end will come in 2016.
SIA currently has a 170,000-unit capacity devoted to the home-brand Legacy and Outback models, while a $400-million expansion increases that to 300,000 units to prepare the facility for Impreza production in two years. Freeing up the 100,000 units of production devoted to the Camry means a 400,000-unit capability, which is far more than Subaru needs at the moment, but the Toyota exit will allow it to expand any way it sees fit. Subaru has said it will absorb the workers on the Camry line and no jobs will be lost, the mayor of Lafayette saying the development could change the timetable for the expansion.
