I am selling my 1989 Toyota Supra with a 1JZ Twin Turbo motor in it, the car has just about 93,200 miles and the motor has about 30,000 (based on what I was told when I bought it), When I bought the car from the original owner the 7M-GTE motor was bad so I bought the 1JZ motor to replace it. The motor has a Boost cut controller and is set to boost about 12lbs, it has a blow off valve, Intercooler kit, Brand new performance clutch, 3" exhaust with no Cat, and I would guess it is pushing about 325 HP at this point. It was repainted in 2011 and it is a pretty good job but not perfect (original color was red). The interior was originally a grey leather, but when I bought it the owner had swapped it out for the grey cloth as the leather had gotten badly sun damaged. I have added an after market Boost gauge and Oil pressure gauge but other than that the interior is stock. I have new carpeting for it I have not installed yet, the current carpet is stained from years of lack of cleaning. I have more Dynamat sound deadener to use on the floor of the car when I replace the carpet, you can see from the pictures that I have already started putting it in the car in the trunk. The tires have about 2,000 miles on them and the rims are the original and in pretty good shape (no damage just need to be cleaned). Both front seats are 6 way power and the drivers seat has a power lumber support and power side bolsters. The molding on the car came from Japan so the badging is correct to the motor in it now and is different than what you will find here in the states, the bad news is I had the 2 door pieces fall off after I installed them. The car in not perfect but it is a great start to a high performance sleeper street car, I just don't have the time to finish the project at this point but it runs well and could be an amazing car, the fun of Fast and Furious without the price.

Autotrader picks best cars for 2015's college grads

Sun, May 31 2015

Summer is here and the school season is winding to a close. That means millions of students will be graduating college and (hopefully) entering the workforce. For many, that will mean buying a new car suited to the new stage in life into which they will now be embarking. That can be a bewildering choice, especially for someone who's never bought a car before. Fortunately, Autotrader has come up with a short list of recommended cars – new and used – which it recommends to the graduating class of 2015. Among the site's top choices are some compelling crossovers and hatchbacks, including the Buick Encore, Chevy Trax, and Jeep Renegade, as well as the Honda Fit, Nissan Versa Note, Mazda3 and Fiat 500. Can't stretch to buying new, or don't see the point? Autotrader has also identified the Toyota Camry, Ford Fusion and even the Lexus IS as smart buys in the certified pre-owned category. "Any time someone goes through a major life change, such as graduating college, they need to determine if their current ride makes sense for their lifestyle, from both a financial and functional perspective," says Autotrader editor Brian Moody. "For example, while that hand-me-down SUV from your parents was nice when you turned 16, you may want to opt for a safer, more fuel-efficient car as you transition into the working world." Autotrader Names 10 Best Cars for Recent College Graduates ATLANTA, May 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- For many, graduating college is a milestone like no other – it represents a new chapter, a proud accomplishment and, fortunately or unfortunately, financial independence. Luckily for graduates who are in the market for a new car to suit their post-college lifestyle, Autotrader's expert editors say now is a great time to make a purchase, as dealerships are flush with affordable models that are fun, fuel-efficient and thoughtfully designed. Toyota begins shipping Le Yaris to America

Fri, 17 May 2013

Our tiniest Toyota (Scion iQ notwithstanding) is about to get a little French flair. The Japanese automaker announced Thursday that its Toyota Motor Manufacturing France facility would begin building Yaris models destined for North America - specifically, the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada. This will mark the first time in history that Toyota has exported vehicles to North America from Europe.
Initially, Toyota will export roughly 25,000 Yaris models to North American markets from France each year. In order to handle this additional production, Toyota Motor Manufacturing France has invested 10 million euro into its French facility.
Despite being somewhat of a snooze-fest (it's a car!), the Yaris carries on in North America with a 106-horsepower 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, with prices starting at $14,370 for the three-door and $15,395 for the five-door, not including $795 for destination.

Toyota to buck engine downsizing trend, may go larger and turbo-free

Mon, 14 Oct 2013

Turbocharging isn't really Toyota's specialty, and the Japanese automaker isn't being shy about acknowledging it. Koei Saga, a senior managing officer in charge of drivetrain research and development, says that eschewing turbos and increasing displacement of engines using the Atkinson cycle can produce better power gains without sacrificing fuel economy, Automotive News reports.
Toyota is investing heavily in larger-displacement Atkinson-cycle engines in addition to turbocharged engines, but Saga doesn't think the automaker will use turbocharging across many product lines. He apparently remains unconvinced that the technology "makes the world better."
In Toyota's eyes then, Atkinson cycle engines do make the world better, and here's how. Their pistons complete four processes - intake, compression, power and exhaust - in one revolution of the crankshaft, and the power stroke is longer than the compression stroke. Traditional Otto cycle engines require two crankshaft revolutions to accomplish those same four operations and have equal-length compression and power strokes. Atkinson cycle engines are more efficient, but less power dense, though increasing displacement can offset that shortfall.
