Everything is up to date on this supra. There are no leaks, no vibrations, no smoking. Transmission shifts perfectly with no grinds and clutch has smooth engagement. Compression test was done last week and all cylinders are between 160-163 psi, motor is very healthy. Air conditioning and heat work excellent. All electronics work like factory with no issues. Interior is great shape and is in better shape than would be expected for a 17 year old car. Leather is in great shape with no tears or scratches. The paint on the car is in excellent condition. The front of the car was resprayed to get rid of rock chips and a few scratches. At the same time the engine bay was completely resprayed and clear coated to look as clean as the outside of the car. This supra has all of the original paint besides what I had resprayed. All body panels still retain the original VIN stickers and has a 100 percent clean carfax with no accidents. There are only a few small nicks on the entire car. If you've been looking for an original 1998 quicksilver TT 6 speed you know how much they go for even in questionable condition. This is an original quicksilver supra that has converted to a complete Twin Turbo 6 speed with the majority of the parts being brand new Toyota. I recommend any serious buyers to come inspect the supra in person to see how clean it is. I will gladly do a compression test in front of serious buyers and put the car on the lift to do a complete inspection of the entire car. Toyota asking NHTSA for fuel cell car safety exemption regarding electric shocks
Mon, 30 Jun 2014Toyota is requesting an exemption from federal safety regulations that govern electric cars as it prepares to launch a small-scale hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle fleet.
The Japanese automaker is targeting Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 305, which covers the packaging of high-voltage parts in electric cars. According to Uncle Sam, these systems need to be isolated so that passengers and first responders aren't electrocuted in the event of a crash. That seems pretty smart, but it's become a problem for Toyota's upcoming production fuel cell vehicle, as the mechanism that prevents electric shocks in low-speed crashes will apparently simply keep Toyota's car from even functioning.
Instead of the federally approved system, Bloomberg reports that Toyota plans to insulate the high-voltage wires and cables in the car, along with shielding electrical components like the fuel cells, electric motor and batteries with (presumably non-conductive) metal barriers.
Honda scores big in Automobile Advertising of the Year Awards [w/videos]
Wed, 15 Jan 2014This year the Detroit Auto Show didn't just celebrate the automobile, it celebrated how we find out about the automobile, too. Partnering The One Club, this year introduced the 2014 One Show Automobile Advertising of the Year Award to Cobo Hall, celebrating winners in five different categories of advertising: broadcast television, online, interactive, experiential, and print/outdoor. Winners in those categories were judged by 50 creative directors and journalists, while a Public Choice category was chosen from among nearly 20,000 online votes.
Honda walked off with three of the six awards, its Hands spot taking Broadcast honors, its Sound of Honda getting the Online category and Illusions winning Public Choice. Hyundai made the grade in Interactive with Driveway Decision Maker, Fiat captured Print/Outdoor with its "Letters" ad, and Toyota's Tundra Endeavor Campaign spot and BMW's A Window into the Near Future were co-winners for Experiential.

Toyota Camry lineup gets interior and tech updates one year in
Thu, 21 Feb 2013When it debuted last year, the Toyota Camry came in for some criticism over its interior, most centered on material choices - both in quality (not enough) and variety (too much). Thus, Toyota has responded after just one model year, updating both materials and features on its gas-powered and hybrid family sedans for 2013.
The LE version appeared to get the lion's share of the improvements. Specifically, the LE is getting "soft-touch" door materials as well as armrests that match the rest of the interior color (instead of being black). The LE model also gets Toyota's six-inch display screen that helps folks get a better gander at the car's energy usage and fuel economy, among other things. Other changes include adding cross-traffic alert for models equipped with blind spot monitoring
Toyota introduced its latest version of the Camry and Camry Hybrid in the fall of 2011 as a 2012 model. Sales have been solid, and in particular, the Camry Hybrid has improved its fortunes, bumping its US sales almost fivefold to more than 45,000 units. So far in 2013, the latter has carried over much of that momentum, boosting January 2013 sales from a year earlier by 81 percent to 3,826 units.
