1994 Toyota Supra - 5 Speed - Targa Top - Na (non Turbo) on 2040-cars

Year:1994 Mileage:135532

Here's your chance to own an adult driven, unmolested and pampered Supra; that is, it has not been put to the pavement with aftermarket performance accessories.  I believe this to be a 3-owner car. The 2nd owner, a fellow professional chemical engineer, purchased the car in 1997 and sold it to me in 2003 and I have owned it ever since. This cars' purpose was to be a get-away weekend cruiser for me and my wife which is why I bought a N/A (naturally aspirated) model rather than the pricey turbo model.

The car is factory original; all I added was an OEM spoiler from a factory supra, aftermarket wheels and 1" lowered front springs.  I reupholstered the front seats approximately 8 yrs ago which are in 10 of 10 condition as we speak.  The rear seat and the rest of the interior is factory original and is in excellent condition.  The front license plate holes have never been drilled which is a plus.  In the last month I had the car professionally mobile detailed: clay bar, machine buffed, hand wax, shampooed carpet, leather conditioner, engine bay, etc etc.  AC blows cold and replaced AC clutch approx 1,500 miles ago. Front windshield is chip and crack free.  It sits on NS Racing wheels with 8.5" fronts and 9.5" rears with brand new MAXXIS tires with less than 200 miles.  I purchased the car with 131,492 miles June 30, 2003 and exactly 11 years later it reads 135,532.  However, the odometer has exceeded its mechanical limits and I have noticed it works sporadically.  A mechanic ran the codes resulting in a  "speed sensor" and EGR valve notification.  I have replaced the EGR valve and have spent ZERO seconds researching the speed sensor and how to fix it as I'm not that concerned about it.  In all honesty the car has been driven approximately 6,000 miles since purchased in 2003 with only 6-700 miles of that coming in the last 5 years.  It has been garage kept and covered most of the time I've owned it.  I recently bled the entire brake system to correct a spongy pedal (due to air in the system from sitting) and now works like new.  It has all the original VIN tag stickers on all the body panels.  Radiator just flushed and new coolant added.  Differential oil was replaced a few years back.  Good news: NO white exhaust smoke on start up (white exhaust smoke is common for Supras indicating worn valve stem o-rings).

Needs:  The antenna broke when left up at a car wash.  I have another complete OEM antenna and motor that will be included in the purchase for installation.  The rear hatch struts have lost their compression so the hatch will not stay up unless held.  The front speaker foam surround has dry rotted.  Paint is flaking in small area around front hood emblem and under left headlight.  One small rust spot above right rear tire where window rubber meets the hatchback glass surround.  Car is pretty much dent and door ding free.

I just completed a home construction expansion and this is my ticket to help paying myself back.  I guarantee the car description to be exactly as stated above listing all positives and negatives of which I am aware. This car also qualifies as a Classic car through Hagerty which my insurance only runs couple hundred year as long as not a primary driven vehicle.  I will store the car at no charge to allow buyer to arrange for pickup if paid in full.  Title is in my name free and clear.  Anything I missed or more questions don't hesitate to contact me...281-865-2262. -James

McLaren, Koenigsegg, Toyota, Ford, Dodge and Corvette Lego kits announced for 2021

Tue, May 4 2021

Lego has announced a slew of car-themed sets for 2021. The six kits comprise nine vehicles and fall under the brick pusher's Speed Champion line of official OEM-licensed kits. News of their arrival comes from German toy retailer JB Spielwaren's pre-order listings, which show three single-car sets and three dual-car sets of matched marques. Starting with the McLaren Elva roadster, the kit consists of 263 pieces and is finished in blue. It seems to have a difficult time capturing the curves of the real-life Elva, but there's only so much you can do with a bunch of plastic blocks. Lego has made several other McLaren kits before, including the Senna, 720S, and a more advanced Senna GTR for the Technics line. Next up is the Koenigsegg Jesko, made up of 280 pieces and finished in white. Though the real-life Jesko is still curvy, this kit does a better job of replicating its aggressive maw, vents and cantilevered rear wing. Rounding out the single-car sets is the 299-piece Toyota GR Supra in yellow. This marks the first time Toyota has lent their license to Lego. Again, it struggles a bit to represent the curvy Supra, relying on printed details like logos and headlights to identify. On the other hand, the Chevrolet two-car does a stupendous job with the 1968 Corvette. The C3 is instantly recognizable as such. The C8-R race car it's paired with suffers from the same issues as some of the previous cars, though. The set contains 512 pieces, and funnily enough the C8 driver has short hair while the C3 driver sports a period-correct wavy mane. The next set is a 627-piece Mopar-themed pair, including a purple (Plum Crazy?) 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A and an SRT top fuel dragster. The race car is spot on, but the Challenger was probably tough to make given the width restrictions. It looks a couple of pegs too narrow compared to the wide proportions of the real deal. Last but not least, the Ford set contains a Bronco R and Ford GT Heritage Edition. Consisting of 660 pieces, the set does an excellent job of representing both cars. The GT looks faithful in its Gulf livery, and the Bronco R looks more like a real Bronco than the actual Bronco R race truck. All in all, it's always fun to see more Lego sets with real cars, and we're glad to see more manufacturers added to the roster. The single-car sets are recommended for ages 7 and up, while the double-car sets have an 8 years and up rating. Price in U.S.

2014 Toyota Camry to get 'significant' attention?

Sun, 24 Nov 2013

With competition from Ford, Chevrolet, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mazda and Nissan mounting, Toyota is getting set to unveil a refreshed version of its Camry sedan a mere two years after it was fully redesigned.
According to a report from Bloomberg, Toyota's move to freshen the still young Camry comes as it seeks to retain its US sales crown in the midsize segment. That desperation has lead to increased incentives and fleet sales in a bid to keep its title, all while trying to keep pace with a slew of very competent competitors.
"It's safe to say we'll be doing something with it," Bill Fay, group vice president of the Toyota brand in the US, told Bloomberg during last week's LA Auto Show. "We'll be paying significant attention to Camry next year."

Recharge Wrap-up: Toyota battery breakthrough, PSA's millionth BlueHDi diesel

Fri, May 6 2016

Scientists at Toyota have developed battery technology that allows for higher energy density. Using material from hydrogen storage, researchers at the Toyota Research Institute of North America (TRINA) in beautiful Ann Arbor, Michigan have created an electrolyte that works well with a magnesium metal anode. Besides improving energy density for smaller, more powerful batteries, magnesium is also more stable than lithium, making it a safer alternative. Rather than guarding their secret, Toyota is sharing details of this breakthrough in order to advance the technology in hopes of an earlier mass deployment of magnesium batteries. See the video above, and read more in the press release below. Farmdrop – a sort of online farmer's market in the UK – is looking for help naming its electric delivery "vanimals." The Nissan e-NV200 vans are painted and decorated to look like cows, pigs, and chickens. While three of the vans have already been named, fans can suggest their own clever ideas for the rest of the fleet on social media. Those whose names are selected will win a month's worth of shopping on Farmdrop. Cary McCarface, anyone? Read more at the company's website. PSA has built its millionth Euro 6 BlueHDi diesel engine. The automaker builds two diesel engines – a 1.6-liter and a 2.0-liter – at its plant in Tremery, France at a rate of 7,000 engines a day. BlueHDi technology uses three different emissions control mechanisms to filter pollutants out of diesel exhaust, including an oxygen catalyst, an additive filter to remove particulate matter, and a Selective Catalytic Reduction system to reduce NOx. BlueHDi is used in all new Peugeot, Citroen, and DS Euro 6 diesel vehicles. Read more at Green Car Congress. Charging Ahead Toyota Scientists Make Breakthrough on Safer, Smarter Batteries May 04, 2016 ANN ARBOR, Mich. (May 4, 2016) -- For anyone (i.e. everyone) who's ever panicked when their mobile device chirped, "low battery," the future could be far less stressful, thanks to the advanced battery research of scientists at the Toyota Research Institute of North America (TRINA). A new breakthrough involving magnesium batteries may soon open the doors for smaller, longer-lasting batteries for everything from cars to cell phones. What's the Big Deal with Magnesium? Magnesium metal has long been theorized as a much safer and more energy-dense alternative to current lithium battery technology.
