I alright as much as I don't want to I'm putting up my MKIII for sale, I've been kidding my self thinking that it can be a reliable daily driver so I think its best if she goes on to someone with a little more time and the resources to take care of her. I got this car in November 2011 from a place called Corporate Auto Brokers in Cummings Georgia. with 104,000 miles on it, its at 116,000 now. I got it with a blown head gasket and didn't realize it until about march of last year when It really went and started to smoke and get hot on me. So I parked it and it sat all summer. I got the head resurfaced and valves done with the seals and a new Felpro gasket kit with ARP bolts. The work was done by my mechanic. Hes the head mechanic for a local trucking company and used to own a shop that specialized in Volkswagens back in the 80s. And a family friend, so I was with him while he worked on it almost the whole time. We got it finished up in September has been running great but there has been a few slight issues. Theres some sort of issue with the idle control valve cause it wants to lope when I first start her up but clears soon after that. And the coolant hose in the back of the head blew witch was replaced with new Gates hoses. Other than that there is a leak in the power steering system some where. It functions correctly but needs to be filled about every 2 weeks or so. My Mech thought it was a pressure line and bought one to replace it when he did the coolant hose but it didn't turn out to be that and I was in a hurry to get the car back and he works full time and then some at his job so I didn't have time to wait for him. Other than that I think it needs a wheel baring in the back. Oh and almost forgot me and a buddy replaced the diff back in November it was making a whirring noise and I put in that MotorCraft gear oil when we did the job. I forgot the miles on the replacement one but it was under 100,000. And I installed one of the old style Driftmotion Intercooler kits and when It the Head was done I got one of those ebay RDDPs witch has held up pretty good. Along with that I had a local exhaust shop build a full 3'' system with a high flow cat and to a Full Boar Performance muffler. Speaking of the turbo it boost pretty well but is smoking and is on its way out. That it for all the major mechanical stuff. Theres some smaller things that need done. I like it would be best to go though and replace all the coolant hoses, things like that I just don't have time to do it. And I just got a new set of tire on it. Ohsitus cheapys but I couldn't afford Dunlops like I had on there before like I wanted. And I have a used set of Tokico Illumina IIs with a eilbach pro kit waiting to be put on.
As for the body and interior they are in amazing shape. Out side the white its awesome and dose not look like 22 year old paint. no dents or dings. no major scratches or nicks. Only issue is on the front bumper. I had some little girl in a camaro in front of me on the interstate run over a piece of blown out semi tire and kicked it up at my front bumper where it cracked the black trim misshaping it a bit as well as take some of the paint off the bumper.
The interior is amazing. It had to have lived in a garage for most of its life. Cause its in beautiful shape. The dash In great shape no cracks or discoloration. The head liner looks about new. The matts are a little tired and same with the carpet its getting quite nappy but no major stains or flaws. only let down is the drivers seat. Having it sit out in my Mechs drive most of last summer I guess let a a crack in the seat started to get wider and I eventually tore it some how and its worked into good sized spot now. But other than that I describe it was if it was found in a cargo container from like 1996 as to the body and interiors' condition.

I'm Adam Morath and this is your Autoblog Minute. Two of Toyota's plants are closed following the deadly explosions that hit the busy port city of Tianjin, China. The Associated Press reports over 100 people dead, hundreds injured and many still missing. According to the Japanese automaker 50 Toyota employees were injured in last weeks [00:00:30] event and they plan to shut down production in their Chinese plants until Wednesday. Various automakers were also affected, including Renault and Hyundai who claim a significant loss of vehicles. How Toyota's Le Mans racer may make its next Prius even better
Fri, Jun 20 2014The supercapacitor technology in the Toyota TS040 "offers great possibility for production car use." – Amanda Rice, Toyota Pop-culture junkies familiar with 1980s touchstone movies will hear the word "capacitor" and think Back to the Future. But the concept of supercapacitors being used in upcoming production models is being pushed by Toyota, not DeLorean. And because of that push, the future might look a little brighter for the Prius. The Japanese automaker will likely apply electric-motor technology used in Toyota's 24 Hours of Le Mans entry – the TS040 – in future versions of the world's best-selling hybrid, Australian publication Drive.com.au says, citing an interview with Toyota Motor Sports' Yoshiaki Kinoshita. Specifically, the racecar uses supercapacitors because they're effective at storing energy created when the vehicle is under braking, only to quickly redistribute it on demand for rapid acceleration. Kinoshita said Toyota may apply this technology to the Prius within the next five years. While declining to comment on specifics, Toyota spokeswoman Amanda Rice tells AutoblogGreen that the Le Mans vehicle "represents an advanced vehicle laboratory for hybrid vehicle and component development. The supercapacitor technology used in this vehicle with its fast charge and discharge capability offers great possibility for production car use." In her email, Rice added that the next-generation Prius will have smaller electric motors with greater power density and thermal efficiency, so let's add that to what we know or think we know about the fourth-generation model. Toyota entered two vehicles in this year's Le Mans race, and one of them had secured the pole-position and was leading much of the race before calling it quits 15 hours in because of electrical issues. Audi ended up winning the race, marking its 13th victory in the history of the French endurance contest.
