The condition of the car is excellent. It is ding and scratch free and garage kept. I have maintained the body so it still has a showroom shine. Has been regularly serviced with oil changes, inspections and tune ups. Car has nothing wrong with it. With only 69,700 miles it has many years of life left. I have put in new tires, new battery, new struts, and very nice two tone light blue/dark blue neoprene seats which cost me $800. The reason I want to sell it is I have had it for a long time and want to get something new and more economical. The bad? Nothing really. The A/C blows cold but could come out with more power. The interior rear hatch opener does not work. And the car does eat gas. It is a turbo and not an economy car, but the effortless power is worth it. Car rides beautifully on the highway. This is really a GT car and cruises effortlessly on the highway. Has a nice firm yet supple ride. I have taken the car over 100 mph and it just sat like I was going at 45! No shake or rattle or anything. Best made car I have ever owned. I am the second owner. I bought the car used in November 1991 from a Toyota dealership on Long Island. It was a demo car that had 14,000 miles on it. I had it checked out mechanically and I have not had any problems in 22 years! Just normal wear and tear like tires, brakes, battery, struts which have all been replaced. The car is essentially a time capsule. And looks like it a 1990 Supra sitting in a Toyota Showroom. This car really has to been seen in person and driven to be appreciated. I have even meticulously maintained the interior using high quality products from autogeek. Dashboard, vinyl door panels, everything shines like brand new. People gawk at it and pull their windows down asking me if I want to sell it. I am finally at the point where I would like to. Basically the thrill of the car has worn off, and it really should be driven by someone who can really appreciate a car like this. I have just had it a long time, have put a lot of money into it, and it attracts too much attention. I really want to get something more economical and less conspicuous to the public.

Also the car has NEVER, and I mean NEVER been in an accident. You can verify this thru carfax, or Experian Autocheck. However, someone did key the fenders(like I said it attracts too much attention) so I had to have both fenders painted and blended with the rest of the panel. Paint glows, no scratches, NO RUST and turns heads. Car is in excellent condition, and they only made 1000 turbo's in 1990. Very hard to find a turbo from that year in this condition. Because the car is rare, in excellent condition, well maintained, and has low mileage I am asking a high price. But the car is worth it. It is basically a weekend car and stays in the garage most of the week. I want to get something I can use more often. This car only gets used on a limited basis. And it has no dings because I am careful where I park it, and I don't leave it outside too long.

Toyota's $1.6B unintended acceleration settlement approved

Sat, 20 Jul 2013

Toyota is now one step closer to putting its unintended acceleration woes behind it as it has received approval from the US District Court for the Central District of California to settle loss-of-value claims to vehicles associated with the 2009-2010 recalls.
As we reported back in May, the Toyota settlement is worth $1.63 billion, which, according to Bloomberg, includes a payout of $757 million to affected owners, $227 million to attorneys and an additional $875 million for vehicle upgrades. (We did the math, too, and that totals $1.859 billion, but there is no justification for the discrepancy. Fuzzy math, eh?)
Based on the estimated 22.6 million vehicles said to be included in this suit, that would make the average payment about $33.49 per vehicle, but the article says that owners, lessees and even renters will receive varying amounts ranging from $9.74 up to as much as $10,000. This settlement does not affect suits filed for personal injury or wrongful death.

Toyota builds world's first 'outdoor website' for RAV4 promo

Thu, 08 Aug 2013

This whole thing started with the premise that Toyota's target RAV4 buyers are people who spend their time cycling, hiking, and generally not in front of computer screens. These people are therefore not able to benefit from the full website experience that Toyota has built for the RAV4. We should clarify that the video below is for Toyota South Africa, and maybe RAV4 buyers there really are the disgustingly outdoorsy ideal that us bacon-eaters are not living up to.
Toyota's agency partner, Hello Computer, set up a 1.8-kilometer track at a cycle park that replicated sections of the automaker's website with real physical displays and interactive feedback. Riders were asked to leave their mouses and hit the trail on a mountain bike to experience the RAV4 Outdoor Website and learn about the vehicle.
That seems like a lot of effort for something that's available on the smartphones of these hyper-active people who aren't in front of computers, but hooray for creatively conquering a problem that didn't exist. Hey, let's not be complete wet blankets - maybe some of the cyclists that ran the Toyota gauntlet got a RAV4 for their to- and fro-ing after the experience. Check out the video of the outdoor website below.

Unifor may establish local union for Toyota's Canadian plants

Thu, 17 Jul 2014

Union tactics apparently translate across borders, as Canada's Unifor may take inspiration from the United Auto Workers' recent move at the Volkswagen factory in Chattanooga, TN, and establish a local for the Toyota factories in Cambridge and Woodstock.
Unifor last attempted to organize the workers at the two factories, which are responsible for production of the Toyota Corolla (above), RAV4 and Lexus RX back in April, but that vote was eventually delayed. According to that report, 3,000 of the two plants' 7,500 employees signed union cards, but that apparently wasn't enough for Unifor to force a vote.
Because of this, the union is looking at the local approach, like what the UAW is attempting with VW.
