Black with gray leather and sport roof, original tires with plenty of tread, complete set of OEM matching wheels fitted with snows; not sure ever on car.  Car has not been  detailed so you can see  original condition, steering wheel leather, pedals, door sills, knobs =  all these typical wear items show essentially new condition.

Interesting history; I purchased 2010 from daughter and son in law of original owner ( see car fax) purchased new by dr who ordered every option; driven two years and 7k until his passing.  His daughter did not wish to sell kept car which eventually was housed in her  husband 's collection among others including shelby registry 427 cobra.   He serviced the car annually and put minimal mileage on it.
I was searching for low mileage black 86.5 as that was the first new car my wife owned; was to be surprise gift 25 years later.  Could not find any where an example that was not trashed; this particular car turned out to be only 30 miles away from our home.  I ordered oem type gray leather and installed as my wife's 86.5 had leather; we have kept the original gray cloth covers to show condition.  My wife feels too flashy ( kids point at it and take pictures ) and we have put minimal mileage on the car.  It remains garaged and is as you can see in very special condition for its age.  Only issues are slight fading of paint on front and rear bumper covers as all paint is original.  The passenger door window goes down from drivers side but not up from drivers door; from the passenger controls it goes up and down.  There are very small depressions on the targa lift off panel where it clips into the holders in the hatch back.  I would replace bushings in rear upper control arms if it was a daily driver  The carpet inside and in hatch in very good condition as the car had aftermarket heavy black mats, the engine is not detailed but looks new, the trunk plywood and spare tire area are amazing; the toyota tool bag for jack is brand new.
Tools and plugs for targa top are still in perfect plastic pouch; and the circles that run to show cassette direction still work with everything else.  Also has stiff folding black targa tonneau cover with suction cups that affix it to the side windows to cover top when targa roof is off.  Car smells great in and out; starts right up and hums.
I have some books ( electrical diagrams etc that came with car) and clean title and car fax which is attached ( If I cannot attach I can email same upon request).

2013 Toyota Avalon Hybrid

Mon, 21 Oct 2013

People, us included, make a big stink about the importance of family sedans. There's no doubt they're critical - they represent a huge slice of the market's annual sales and profits. However, despite accounting for far fewer transactions than the midsize sedan segment, the fullsize sedan is getting attention from manufacturers now that our market's entire lineup of those (slightly) smaller four-doors has turned over in the last two years or so. As most of the fullsize segment's mainstays derive a fair bit of their platform and powertrain technologies from their midsize cousins, these larger four-doors offer the potential for fatter profit margins, too. And with the newly stylish duds found on many of the industry's most successful midsize sedans, it's only right that automakers no longer think about fullsizers as big, squishy, vanilla family haulers with flat seats, vague steering and a thin layer of 'luxury' in the form of faux wood trim.
As manufacturers have again started diving into large sedans feet-first, the cars themselves have become sharper. The interiors are now of a higher quality and loaded with tech, while the exteriors have become further extensions of each manufacturer's design language. There's perhaps no greater example of this than the Chevrolet Impala and Ford Taurus, two models that evolved from subpar offerings into market leaders. This segment-wide transformation happened quite quickly, whether because of coincidental timing or because manufacturers are trying to get more out of their big cars, recognizing they account for a small portion of overall sales (just 3.5 percent of the new-car market in the first half of 2013).
The 2013 Toyota Avalon Hybrid is one such vehicle. We remarked on the changes to the V6 variant last year, and while we previously had a quick steer of the gas-electric hybrid, we figured the new model was worth a closer week-long look.

Toyota delves into the history of its Land Cruiser

Fri, 06 Sep 2013

One of the longest-produced, most widely distributed vehicles in all of automotive history is also one of its most rugged: the Toyota Land Cruiser. With 60 years of continuous production, 14 different model lines and thousands of variations of the Jeep-like sports utility vehicle, the Land Cruiser became a success worldwide and developed a cult following among enthusiasts here in the US.
We'll be the first to admit that tracing the vehicle's lineage from its humble beginnings as a prototype for Japan's National Police Reserve in 1951 to what it is today isn't an easy task, especially when one considers that the types of Land Cruisers produced traditionally have varied from market to market. For example, the Land Cruiser sold in the US is very different from the US-only 40 series Land Cruiser-inspired FJ Cruiser, which is itself different from the Land Cruiser Prado sold in other world markets.
To cover the Land Cruiser's sixty-plus year history from start to present, someone over at Toyota UK was thoughtful enough to devote a plus-size blog post to it. It's worth a read if you have a spare 10 or 15 minutes - and even if you don't, you can check out our historical gallery above. Enjoy!

Toyota launches updated Verso-S in Europe

Wed, 14 May 2014

Globally, the Toyota Yaris has bred more variants than we can shake a stick at. It's been known in different markets as the Vitz, the Platz, the Bella, the Vios and, to us, as the Echo. The first-generation model bred a small cargo van called the Yaris Verso - a mini minivan riding on the shortest wheelbase in its class - which was renamed the Verso-S for Europe and alternatively known as the Space Verso, the Ractis, the Ractis Verso and even the Subaru Trezia in certain markets. And now Toyota has launched a revised version of its Verso-S in Europe.
Arriving as a mid-life facelift after three years on the market, the new Toyota Verso-S has been reinterpreted through the "Keen Look" design language that's been distinguishing the latest generation of Toyotas, particularly in the European market. That means new projector-beam headlights and LED daytime running lights, a reshaped grille with chrome surround, more LEDs around back, a fresh set of 16-inch alloys and new color options.
The interior has likewise been spruced up with new trim and color choices, as well as a tire pressure monitor fitted as standard. There's a new touchscreen display with more connectivity options, upgraded nav and a rearview camera as well. Since Toyota's made no mention of engine upgrades, until we hear back, we have to assume the 1.3-liter inline-four and 1.4-liter diesel engines carry over unchanged with the buyer's choice of either a six-speed manual or continuously variable transmission.
