1987 Supra for sale. $5500.00 USD.  Paint job is deteriorated but is intact. No surface rust or corrosion, no body holes as vehicle is from the south. There are plenty of modifications and parts that I've replaced. The list is as follows:
-Tires are Eagle Authority with a tread depth of 9/32". Dimensions are P225/50R16.
-Battery replaced in 2013 January with Maxx series battery.
-Viper Transponder Alarm system with pager installed. Motion sensor and glass break sensor installed with the Viper alarm from Directed Electronics. Alarm features the starter kill feature which will render the car inactive if forced entry is detected. Only the remote will shut the alarm off and allow the vehicle start if alarm is activated. Motion sensor is calibrated to allow the sport roof to be off and still protect the vehicle from intruders.
-Rockford Fosgate Speakers replaced all four original speakers with two 6X9s additionally in the rear hatch. System amplified by Rockford Fosgate 400 amp Punch Series Amplifier. Deck is a Sony MEX-BT39UW. I still have the original deck if you want to keep the vehicle in its stock state.
-Exhaust has been replaced with PaceSetter Monza Cat-Back Performance Exhaust system.
-Engine, 7MGE, recently rebuilt from the cylinder head down. All Gaskets and Seals replaced. HKS steal head gasket with ARP head studs replace Toyota's composite head gasket and head bolts. Engines cooling system modified to run electrically via a thermostatic probe which closes the circuit at 180F with a dual core aluminum radiator with two ducted electric 12" fans. Switch installed in the cabin will also bypass and engage the fan circuit when desired. Ignition system replaced which includes spark plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor, and then re-timed to original specifications. MAF sensor recently replaced with new. All belts and hoses replaced (except for AC system hoses). Slight Knock being produced at higher RPMs.
-This model comes equiped with Toyota's Super Monitor system with currently no Engine, Electronic Controlled Transmission, ABS, or C/C codes being displayed. Monitor is fully functional and will accurately display the average fuel mileage and estimated range.
-Fuel tank resealed and painted with the fuel pump being replaced in the process.
-Brakes and rotors recently replaced (<300 miles) with slotted and drilled rotors with ceramic pads. Parking brake shoes replaced as well.
-Toyota Electronically Modulated System (TEMS) is continually operational without defect.
-Lower ball joints replaced (<500 miles).
-Full size spare is also included with the factory provided roadside jacking system.
-Interior is immaculate for the vehicles age. No cracks in dash assembly or slits in the seats. I put in seat covers only to protect the seats, not to cover up defects. Left seat has electric controls and lumbar support. All mirrors are still electrically functional. Only interior deficiencies include center arm rest and emergency brake leather cover deterioration.
-All lighting systems are fully functional from the actuating head lamps to the interior lights. I recently repaired and restored the rear brake light monitoring system which is now fully functional.
-Engine bay and hatch struts replaced and hold without external support.
-This model was manufactured with the sport roof. I've restored the seals and the roof can be removed and replaced with ease.
-Power windows are continuously functional.
-The only cons are that the power steering system, while completely functional, continues to leak. The hatches defrost function is also inactive. Drivers door exterior trim piece is removed and in need of repair and installation to door panel. Right front wheel hub lug stud is broken off (parts are on hand with the lug nut kept as well). Vehicle sold as is.

Ford F-150 bumps Camry from top of Cars.com American Made Index

Tue, 25 Jun 2013

With July 4th just around the corner, what better time could there be for Cars.com to announce that the Ford F-150 is the Most American car of 2013? This may be especially true since it was the Toyota Camry, a car produced by a company based in Japan, that had held the top spot from 2009 to 2012.
Cars.com compiles its Most American list by considering the amount of parts each vehicle uses that come from America, where it's final assembly takes place and how many units per year are sold. "While the assembly point and domestic parts content of the F-150 didn't change from 2012-2013, vehicle sales are responsible for bumping the F-150 to the top spot," according to Patrick Olsen, Editor-in-Chief of Cars.com.
As far as automakers go (as opposed to individual models), Toyota retains the top spot it held in 2012, with General Motors, Chrysler, Ford and Honda (in that order) rounding out the list. The motivation behind this list each year, according to Olsen, is "to help car shoppers understand that 'American-Made' extends beyond just the Detroit three" and because "a study we conducted in 2012 indicated that 25 percent of shoppers surveyed preferred to buy American."

Mazda CX-5 named Japan's Car of The Year, Subaru BR-Z wins "Special Award"

Mon, 03 Dec 2012

The Mazda CX-5 stamped its Kodo design and SkyActiv technology authority all over the Japan Car of the Year awards, taking the top prize ahead of the Subaru BRZ/Toyota GT 86. It is Mazda's second victory in the last ten years, the 2005 MX-5 claiming the same trophy, and the fourth time the Hiroshima company has won.
The award is decided by 60 local "automotive experts and journalists," and open to any passenger car released in Japan from November 1, 2011 to October 31, 2012 that has sold more than 500 units. Each judge gets 25 votes, his or her top vote getting 10 points, the rest of the points being spread among the judge's choice for the next best four cars.
The second-place getters were the Toyobaru twins with 318 votes, the surprise being they didn't beat or get any closer to the crossover. The Subaru BRZ did claw some mojo back, earning the Special Award given to cars that have made "an exceptional impact." The BMW 3 Series was third overall and won the Import Car of the Year award with plenty of room between it and the second place Range Rover Evoque.

This first-gen Toyota Celica is one mean mother

Tue, 09 Jul 2013

Brian Karasawa's gen-one Toyota Celica is, in a word, badass. As a long-standing fan of the marque, the doting owner has tried to both restore and improve his Celica keeping period-correct modifications in mind. The 20R/22R mashup engine is outputting roughly 185 horsepower and graced with a lot of JDM-specific parts and modifications. Clearly, the exhaust has been upgraded from stock, as clips of the orange Toyota in motion are accompanied by one hell of a nice sound.
Tastes clearly vary, and there's not as much love for the first-wave of Japanese metal as there is for similar era American-iron, but we're pleased to see these cars finally getting more time in the spotlight. Scroll down below to see why we're stoked, and consider cruising your local Craigslist for late 1970s and early 1980s Japanese coolness (before we get there first).
