Up for sale is my 1999 Toyota Sienna LE van. The van is in great condition for the year and only has 134,824 miles on it. Ive always done regular oil changes and have taken great care of the vehicle. Tons of great extras like climate control for heat and A/C in all three rows of seating, seating for seven people with privacy tint on the rear two rows. Ive upgraded the stereo to a Pioneer SuperTuner with ipod and front aux controls with 1/8" mini jack, there's also a great seven speaker sound system so it really sounds great. There are a few scratches in the paint and a few small dings(probably from shopping carts), the interior also has a few stains and a few small burn marks but overall is in great condition, all things you'd expect for a late model vehicle. The four tires were bought new at the same time and have at least 70% of tread left. Also, the van is Pennsylvania inspected until 2/2015. I have clear and clean title in hand ready to sign over as well. I've been on ebay for 15 years and have never sold a vehicle so I'm going to try and describe this to the best of my ability and not being a mechanic, I recommend that you check the van out prior to bidding if you are not sure. Everything was great until this last winter, the van started acting sluggish and was running rich with poor gas mileage. The engine light came on and I took it to my mechanic and replaced the fuel pump, thermostat, and O2 sensor. It drove good for a few weeks then the problems returned. The battery also died so I just replaced it with a brand new battery with warranty two months ago. When I installed the new battery, the van ran great, drove super smooth and accelerated and shifted great. About 30 miles or so later, the light came back on. It's back to running very sluggish and poor mileage and running super rich. It also just drained the brand new battery so I'm assuming something is drawing power and maybe it's a simple wiring thing, or possibly another sensor. Im not sure if its a little issue or a larger one. I don't think it's major, but can not be sure. I know ive spent well over 1000 on new parts and labor the past six months and whatever is going on is still there. I'd not be selling this if it were still running normally as I think it's still a good vehicle. Could be an excellent opportunity to get a great Toyota vehicle with loads of new parts at a great price, if you know how to fix. High bidder to pay 10% paypal deposit at auctions close and must pick up within 10 business days with the remaining payment due in cash. To be picked up outside of Warren, PA. You may want to have it towed or drive it with it running the way it is, I think you could keep unhooking the battery when the engine light comes on so it drives better? I'll leave this part of it to you. Please email me any questions. Thanks for looking. I'll be uploading more interior pics and others when I get a chance. Thanks again. |

2.1 million vehicles recalled again over faulty airbags
Sat, Jan 31 2015Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Honda and Toyota will recall 2.1 million vehicles to fix faulty airbag modules "after the manufacturers' original attempts to fix the defects proved ineffective in some vehicles." These vehicles had all previously been recalled, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found that the airbags could still potentially malfunction. This recall will cover Acura MDX, Dodge Viper, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Honda Odyssey, Pontiac Vibe, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Matrix and Toyota Avalon models made in the early 2000s. NHTSA has reportedly received about 40 reports of airbag deployment in such vehicles, even though the vehicle had not been involved in a crash. Roughly one million of these same vehicles, all from Honda and Toyota, are also subject to recalls due to faulty Takata airbag modules, though this particular recall is for "an electronic component manufactured by TRW" that is separate from the actual airbags from Takata. According to NHTSA Administrator Mark Rosekind: "This is unfortunately a complicated issue for consumers, who may have to return to their dealer more than once. But this is an urgent safety issue, and all consumers with vehicles covered by the previous recalls should have that remedy installed. Even though it's a temporary solution until the new remedy is available, they and their families will be safer if they take the time to learn if their vehicle is covered and follow their manufacturers' instructions. A hassle is much better than a family tragedy." If you're the owner of an affected car, expect to hear more from the official automaker and government channels in short order. In the meantime, we'd suggest getting your car checked and fixed at your local dealer. The official statement and recall information can be found below. Previously Recalled Vehicle Remedies Not Working as Designed; NHTSA Announces Follow up Recall of 2.12 Million Cars and SUVs Saturday, January 31, 2015 Contact: Gordon Trowbridge, 202-366-9550, Public.Affairs@dot.gov WASHINGTON – U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx announced today the recall of more than 2.12 million Acura, Dodge, Jeep, Honda, Pontiac, and Toyota vehicles for a defect that may cause airbags to deploy inadvertently. The recalls will provide vehicle owners with a new remedy after the manufacturers' original attempts to fix the defects proved ineffective in some vehicles.
Eiji Toyoda dead at 100
Tue, 17 Sep 2013Toyota has had number of chiefs over its 76-year history, but none ever served as long as Eiji Toyoda. The younger cousin of the company's founder served as president of the automaker from 1967 to 1982 and as chairman of the Toyota Motor Corporation for another ten years following the unification of the manufacturing and sales divisions.
During his 25 years at the helm, Eiji Toyoda (pictured above in 1967) was credited with establishing the company's headquarters in Toyota City, spearheading the development of the Prius, expanding production overseas for the first time, launching the Lexus brand and turning Toyota from a minor player into one of the largest automakers in the world.
Even after his retirement in 1992, he remained an honorary chairman and close advisor to his successors, and chaired the company's museum. He died of heart failure, ending a 100-year life that started on September 12, 1913, before the company that bore his family's name (albeit slightly modified) had even started building automatic looms, let alone automobiles. We extend our condolences to the Toyoda family and our congratulations on an accomplished life.
Junkyard Gem: 2004 Pontiac Vibe GT
Fri, Jun 26 2020The New United Motor Manufacturing plant in Fremont, California, built Toyota-derived machinery — badged as Toyotas, Chevrolets, Geos, and Pontiacs— from 1984 through 2010, and some of the very last vehicles that left the assembly line were Pontiac Vibes. The Vibe, sibling to the Toyota Matrix, mostly served as a ho-hum transportation appliance and/or fleet car, but a factory-hot-rod GT version could be purchased. Today's Junkyard Gem is one of those rare GTs, complete with the nearly unheard-of six-speed manual transmission, found in a self-service yard in northeastern Colorado. The regular Vibe had 123 or 130 horsepower, depending on the number of driven wheels, but the Vibe GT got the same 1.8-liter 2ZZ engine that went into the Celica GT-S. 180 horsepower, which was enough to make the 2,800-pound Vibe GT keep up with the 3,108-pound/215-horse Chrysler PT Cruiser Turbo that year. Sadly, no race series pitting Vibe GTs against PT Cruiser Turbos and Chevy HHR SSs on road courses ever materializedÂ… but it's not too late. The Vibe GT has something you couldn't get in a PT Cruiser or Chevy HHR, though: a six-speed manual transmission as standard equipment. In fact, the six-speed was the only transmission offered in the early Vibe GTs (an automatic became an option later on). You'll find plenty of three-pedal econoboxes from this era, because they were significantly cheaper than their slushbox-equipped counterparts, but the Vibe GT had plenty of competition from sportier-looking cars with manual transmissions in 2004. Not many were sold. This car is covered with nasty dents from golf-ball-sized hail (all too common in High Plains Colorado), so it may have been an insurance total that nobody wanted at auction. Sold in Wyoming, will be crushed in an adjacent state. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Fuel for the soul. Toyota had right-hand-drive Matrixes brought over to Japan from Canada, but a NUMMI-built version of the Vibe could be purchased there for a few years as well. This was the Voltz, and its advertising seems notably frantic even by the standards of Japanese car commercials.
