1996 Toyota Rav4 Base Sport Utility 2-door 2.0l on 2040-cars
Fountain Hills, Arizona, United States
My wife call this "we have too many toys - sale!" On my bucket list has always been a 2 door Rav 4, which I see when we travel to St Barts and thought if I could find an original low mile one, maybe we could tow it behind our motorhome! I collect small cars and found this one recently in Reno Nevada.
We went there and drove it home, and checked it off my bucket list! It runs and drives as it should, but my days of driving a manual trans car for very long are over with bad knees and bad shoulders! It would be perfect for towing behind an RV. It it has a manual trans, 4 wheel drive, has Air Conditioning, Power Steering and brakes. Factory radio. This car has 65891 miles, which I believe to be correct and car fax also documents thru its history. No interior wear or pedal pad wear at all. Paint is all original and in average condition with the exception of the rear swing out door has been replaced with a used one a long time ago and the rear sill showing signs of repair. Car fax does not show any damage as the owner probably took care of it himself. Original decals on the sides of the Rav are in good shape as well. No rust and the undercarriage is very clean due to it living in the Reno area most of its life until I brought it to Arizona. The paint on the roof is getting a little thin in a few spots where yo can see a shadow from the factory black primer showing thru. I put new tires on it before driving it home and had the oil changed as it was due according to the sticker on the windshield. There are no service records at all on the Rav but it looks like it was taken care of really well. It was the cleanest low mile one I could find and was looking for a very long time. Inspections are welcome and encouraged. Thanks, Glenn PS, I added a photo from CarFax page showing more detail on the miles than AutoCheck shows for some reason. |

2015 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro priced from $41,285*
Fri, 29 Aug 2014Just a few weeks after announcing pricing for the first two members of its TRD Pro Series, Toyota has finally dropped the final pricing details on its new Tundra TRD Pro. Like the Tacoma TRD Pro, the Tundra will be available in two different body styles, with a more affordable Double Cab and a roomier Crew Cab.
Prices start at $41,285 for the former and $43,900 for the latter - not counting a hefty $1,100 destination charge - effectively slotting Toyota's off-road-ready model between the $41,730, Double Cab Limited and $46,465, Crew Cab-only 1794 Edition trucks.
As we've covered previously, the TRD Pro models come with a raft of off-road gear that should help combat just about any terrain a driver may stumble across. TRD-tuned Bilstein shocks and TRD-tuned front springs add two inches to the big truck's ride height while the black, 18-inch TRD wheels and available Inferno Orange paint add a bit of visual sass. A new TRD dual exhaust system is also standard, which can confirm sounds great (review coming soon!).
Recharge Wrap-up: Mazda, Subaru and Toyota PHEV, Nomadic Power grant
Sat, Jun 20 2015The next generation of the Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid looks to be important for Mazda and Subaru as well. Toyota will likely need to sell more of the new plug-in hybrid to meet stricter ZEV standards in California. That means it will get more extra electric range, as customers have been asking for. Subaru and Mazda will also have to adhere to the California standards beginning in 2018. Those two smaller automakers will likely license a plug-in hybrid powertrain from Toyota in order to fulfill compliance. Read more at Green Car Reports. Tesla is partnering with Dalhousie University to improve battery technology. Tesla signed a five-year research agreement with Dalhousie's Jeff Dahn, a lithium-ion battery researcher. Dahn and the 25 researchers in his lab will work with Tesla's Director of Battery Technology, Kurt Kelty, to increase capacity through improved materials. The collaboration could be important both for Tesla's automotive and stationary batteries. "Our research group's goal is to increase the energy density and lifetime of Li-ion batteries, so we can drive down costs in automotive and grid energy storage applications," says Dahn. Read more from Dalhousie University. Nomadic Power is receiving a European Commission grant worth ˆ2 million (about $2.26 million) for trailer-mounted mobile batteries. Nomadic Power's mobile batteries, called Nomads, have incorporated photovoltaic systems and can be used to extend the electric driving range of a plug-in vehicle, or to provide backup power to a home. The Nomads use an intelligent energy management system to learn and predict user behavior and manage the solar system based on weather forecasts. "We see a strong future in electric-powered mobility and an increasing use of renewable energy, photovoltaic power in particular," says Nomadic Power CEO Dr. Manfred Baumgaertner. "Our mobile batteries have great potential in these markets that recently got a significant shot in the arm by Tesla's announcements." Read more from Nomadic Power, and at Green Car Congress. First Toyota unintended acceleration case headed for trial
Mon, 22 Jul 2013Toyota is going to be back in the spotlight, as the first of its unintended acceleration lawsuits is headed for trial. This case covers a Los Angeles sushi shop owner, Noriko Uno. According to the what the family told The Detroit News, Uno only put about 10,000 miles on her 2006 Toyota Camry in four years. Uno was apparently afraid of high speeds, avoiding the freeway and taking a route home along LA's surface streets to avoid them.
On August 28, 2009, Uno's Camry suddenly accelerated to 100 miles per hour, eventually striking a telephone poll and a tree and killing her. The family contends that Uno attempted to step on the brakes and pull the emergency brake, neither of which brought her speed under control, while Toyota maintains that improperly installed floormats and driver error have been behind the majority of the 80 cases expected to be heard in court.
In Uno's case, The Detroit News is expecting the trial to focus on the lack of an override if the gas and brake pedals were pressed at the same time. Brake overrides were installed on Toyota's European fleet. The Uno family attorney will need to prove to the jury that it wasn't driver error that killed Noriko Uno.
