Ocean City, Maryland, United States
Don't let the miles fool you. This one owner 2006 Toyota Prius is just getting started. It is loaded with all the extras, runs and drives 100%, has a clean Autocheck and is being sold with no reserve. The 1.5L four cylinder electric/gas engine purrs along without a miss or any fluid loss. The hybrid system is working perfectly. It is charging and assisting as required and the auto stop engages when stopped. No "check engine" or warning lights of any kind. ALL systems work as new. The brakes, steering and suspension are in great condition. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly without hesitation. No exhaust leaks. The exterior is a glossy blue. Considering the miles, you might find a scratch if you look hard enough. There are no major dents or dings. The most noticable blemish is a scrape on the rocker under the passenger side door (see pic). The tires, on factory alloy wheels, have about 50% tread (see pic). No windshield chips or cracks. The lights and lenses are bright and crack free. Considering the miles we would rate the exterior condition as above average. The interior is light tan carpet and cloth seats. There are no wear areas, burns, holes or rips on the seats but they could use a detail cleaning for a better presentation. The fabric is missing from the center arm rest. All the power options such as windows, locks, side mirrors, cruise control, etc. work as designed. The upgraded items include navigation, smart key, back up camera and blue tooth. There is an upgraded factory sound system with 6 CD changer and JBL speakers. There are steering wheel controls for climate, audio, phone, nav, etc. The heat is hot and the AC is cold. This is a perfect Prius for the buyer who demands comfort and fuel efficiency without the price of a new Prius. ALL systems work as designed. There are no current mechanical problems and no indication of any impending issues. The new owner will be able to drive home, with confidence, no matter where they live. This quality one owner Prius is being sold by a Maryland Used Car Dealer. Toyota confirms i-Road electric trike for production
Tue, 08 Oct 2013The wacky, three-wheeled Toyota i-Road we saw in Geneva earlier this year will be heading to production. But before you run down to your local Toyota dealer looking for one of these all-electric "personal mobility" vehicles, chances are, you'll never actually see one unless you visit Japan.
Announced at the Combined Exhibition of Advanced Technologies (CEATEC) expo last week, Toyota said that the i-Road would be used as a part of the Ha:Mo car-sharing system in Japan. Weighing in at around 661 pounds, with a 28-mile-per-hour top speed and a two-passenger seating arrangement, the i-Road seems more like a fully enclosed scooter than a car, but it does offer a 30-mile driving range and has a nifty articulating front suspension that leans into corners. As for Ha:Mo, Toyota says that the number of cars in the program will increase from 10 prior to October 1 to 100 by the middle of this month, and the number of stations will almost double from 13 up to 21. Toyota has more details about the car and Ha:Mo in the press release posted below.
Toyota Camry re-earns CR 'Recommended' rating following crash tests
Thu, 19 Dec 2013All is right again in the Toyota kingdom. The Japanese manufacturer's bread-and-butter sedan, the Camry, has been put back on Consumer Reports' "Recommended" vehicle list, following improved performance in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's crash testing.
You'll recall that the 2012 and 2013 Camry were infamously booted from the list due to "Poor" ratings in IIHS' notoriously tough small-overlap crash testing. Toyota vowed - just last week actually - to fix the ratings. As the Toyota brand's head, Bill Fay, said last week, "It's still a five-star car. It still does very well in all the IIHS tests. It did not in [the small overlap frontal crash test], and we're busy making the necessary adjustments so that we can address that."
Now, though, those redesigned cars have been tested, earning an "Acceptable" rating in the overlap testing. According to Consumer Reports, Camrys built from November 2013 on feature new internal structures that improve the car's crash test scores enough to make it a "Recommended" buy. IIHS has also elevated the car back to a position in its Top Safety Pick category, although it falls short of the new gold standard, the Top Safety Pick + rating.
Vice chronicles Okinawa's illegal street racing scene
Mon, 10 Mar 2014We all know that street racing is dangerous, and that motorsports are best left on the track or drag strip. However, that doesn't mean that there still isn't some outlaw allure among enthusiasts of racing on public roads. In this video, Vice Japan profiles Eikichi Nagayoshi of Japan's island of Okinawa. He is a used car dealer by day and an illegal racer by night.
Nagayoshi has a deep love for his highly customized Toyota Aristo (better known to us as a first-generation Lexus GS) that he claims produces over 1,000 horsepower and has hit 205 miles per hour. He races his car both on drag strips and in drifting competitions, but says that he often has to ship the car to mainland Japan to compete. In the absence of those opportunities, he sometimes gathers friends and takes the racing to the public roads. While we're not down with street racing, this Vice video is an intriguing personality piece, as well as a look into Japan's fabled underground racing scene. Scroll down to check out the video, but make sure you have the "CC" button clicked, because several portions are subtitled.
