2009 Toyota Prius Touring Hatchback 4-door 1.5l on 2040-cars
Atlanta, Georgia, United States
I bought this "fully loaded" Prius in June 2011 certified pre-owned from the Sandy Springs Toyota dealer in Atlanta, GA with 33K miles on it. It is still under Toyota's extended Powertrain warranty until 2016 or 100,000 miles. It has leather seats, a rear-view backup camera, navigation system, steering-wheel controls (bluetooth calling, temperature, audio), and garage control buttons on the rear-view mirror. Also has premium JBL sound system with multi-disc CD player, MP3 aux cable input, and keyless entry with two key Fobs. It has run GREAT and I have had ZERO mechanical problems. I'm a big fan of the Prius family.
I planned on keeping my Prius much longer, but I am going to graduate school in CT and will not need a vehicle there. I have had the oil changed every 3,000 to 5,000 miles, have never smoked in it (I don't smoke at all), and last year I replaced the battery. There are some scratches to the right rear hubcap (pictured), minor scratches on the left side mirror encasing (pictured), and minor scratches underneath each door handle (pictured, I think from rings worn by the first owner). Also, there is no physical evidence of this damage, but in the interest of full disclosure, the back bumper has been professionally replaced after someone lightly knocked the parked car from behind. Overall, it's in very good condition. |

Toyota gives up more information on Frankfurt-bound Yaris Hybrid-R concept
Mon, 19 Aug 2013Toyota has undeniably carved out a niche for itself as the industry's leader in hybrid propulsion. What started out with the original Prius in 1997 has, over the past sixteen years, ballooned to what Toyota reports as a global hybrid portfolio of 23 models. But few (if any of them) are particularly exciting.
That's where the Yaris Hybrid-R concept comes in. Set to be showcased along with the rest of Toyota's hybrid and fuel-cell lineup at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show next month, the concept starts with one of the Japanese auto giant's least exciting models and upgrades it to more enticing territory. Toyota Motorsport GmbH - the same Cologne, Germany-based division that operated the company's F1 team, currently runs its Le Mans program and gave us that bonkers 650-horsepower Lexus LS - has slotted in a version of Toyota's new 1.6-liter Global Race Engine and paired it with a couple of electric motors for hybrid propulsion and through-the-road all-wheel drive.
Like the TS030 Hybrid LMP1, the Yaris Hybrid-R concept uses a super capacitor (instead of a conventional battery) to store the regenerated brake energy and give it upwards of 400 horsepower. That's about all Toyota is revealing at this point, but this is the first time it has confirmed the project is based on a Yaris, of all things, and the confirmation comes with the solitary teaser rendering you see above. Check out the press release after the jump and watch this space for more as Frankfurt fast approaches.
Toyota's production fuel cell car to cost between $50-100k
Fri, 03 May 2013
While the cost of building a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle continues to go down over time, reports over the last few years have steadily maintained that the first Toyota hydrogen-powered vehicles for customers should ring up for around $50,000. Company officials cited this figure way back in 2010, and have reiterated it in subsequent years.
So, while a recent Automotive News report about the cost of Toyota's 2015 Hydrogen car doesn't offer up any new figures, it does offer an interesting pricing wrinkle. According to the report, the "cost factor" for the hydrogen vehicles will be in the $50k ballpark, meaning the retail price could be anywhere from there, up to as much as around $100,000.
Jay Leno goes offroading with the legendary Ivan 'Ironman' Stewart
Mon, 17 Nov 2014Jay Leno takes a step outside of his cavernous garage for this latest video for a jaunt into the desert to get a little dirty. He meets up with off-road racing legend Ivan 'Ironman' Stewart, who has multiple Baja 500 and 1000 wins in his motorsports career, to play with a Toyota Tundra in the sand.
Unfortunately, Leno doesn't get to interview Stewart too deeply about his long history in racing, but Ironman does talk a little bit about reading the trail while speeding through the desert. In lieu of a great conversation, there is a ton of high-quality footage of the Toyota bounding through the desert.
This clip feels more like a marketing effort than the usual output from Jay Leno's Garage, but it's still great to see Stewart behind the wheel sliding a truck, just like old times. The two of them even take the truck on a somewhat humorous journey at the end of the video.
