This is a 1988 Toyota MR2. The car is NOT currently running, but I'm pretty sure all it needs is a fuel pump to get it running again. The car has been sitting in my garage for several years. I can spray starter fluid in the throttle body and it runs for a few seconds. I never hear the pump run when I turn the key on like I used to and a couple of times it blew the EFI fuse. My son started the car as a project but lost interest. All the parts shown in the pictures come with the car: 4 piece Duraflex body kit, extra rear visor, extra set of T-Top inside covers, extra hood (Supercharged MR2 style), 4 brand new 16X7 wheels (still in box, never mounted). The tires currently on the car are practically brand new. I had them put on just before the car was parked. They probably don't have 100 miles on them. I just finished rebuilding the front end: new Tokiko strut cartridges, new brake pads and drilled and slotted rotors, new prothane bushings, new ball joints and tie rod ends, new adjustable stabilizer links. The car will definitely need an alignment and brakes bled. The same parts for the rear come with the car, I just haven't installed them. The body is in really good condition. The right front corner shown in the pictures is the only real damage on the body, but the body kit would cover most of that. The paint on the car is faded and the clear coat is peeling. All the glass is in good condition, just a couple of minor rock pecks in front windshield. The car has A/C, but honestly I don't remember if it works or not. Everything is there though, nothing has been removed from the car. The engine and drivetrain are all original. I have set a reasonable reserve, I believe, considering the condition of the car, the new and extra parts (body kit alone was around $600). Since the car is not running, I have tried to describe it as accurately and honestly as possible. If there are any questions, please contact me.

Toyota settles for $3M after being found liable in sudden acceleration case
Sat, 26 Oct 2013A jury has decided that faulty software was to blame for a crash involving a 2005 Toyota Camry that killed one woman and injured another. This is the first time Toyota has been found liable by a jury in a lawsuit involving sudden acceleration claims. Toyota has maintained that driver error is the most likely cause for cases of sudden acceleration.
Shortly after the jury in the case, which took place in Oklahoma and centered around a crash that injured 76-year-old Jean Bookout and killed her passenger, Barbara Schwarz, reached a verdict that would see Toyota paying $3 million in compensatory damages, a confidential settlement was reached. The jury, which had found Toyota liable for "reckless disregard" for public safety, had yet to decide what punitive damages Toyota would face.
Toyota said in a statement, "While we strongly disagree with the verdict, we are satisfied that the parties reached a mutually acceptable agreement to settle this case. We will continue to defend our products vigorously at trial in other legal venues."
Toyota FV2 Concept is a single-seat mood ring for the road
Wed, 20 Nov 2013Of all the vehicles Toyota brought to the Tokyo Motor Show, the FV2 might be the most creative. The minimalist single-seat concept is a glimpse at Toyota's idea of a "fun to drive" vehicle in the future.
The FV2 is essentially a pod with a diamond-shaped wheel array (what powers said wheels has not been disclosed), and Toyota says that the technology of the vehicle allows it to gauge the driver's mood and suggest possible destinations. The interaction between driver and vehicle is also displayed in an augmented reality screen on the windshield, and the car can also act as a mood ring of sorts with exterior colors and patterns that can change based on the driver's mood. We can just see it now: "Don't mess with Jim today, his car is red."
Scroll down for a brief press release on the FV2.
Sports 800 is a progenitor of Toyota performance
Tue, 18 Nov 2014There's an automotive axiom that claims it's more fun to drive a slow car fast, than a fast car slow. If that's the case, then pushing a Toyota Sports 800 around must be one of the most exhilarating experiences behind the wheel in the world. With just 800cc of displacement from a two-cylinder boxer engine, the focus is on finesse over outright speed. Still, it's a fantastic page in Toyota's performance history, and Petrolicious takes a ride with a man who owns a meticulously restored 1967 example in its latest video.
The Sports 800 used the classic cost-saving strategy in the auto industry of taking parts from a standard model in the lineup and modifying it into a sports car. In this case that meant borrowing the engine from the plebian Toyota Publica, beefing it up for more power and clothing the whole thing a in beautifully shaped, wind-tunnel-honed body.
The look of these lithe, targa roadsters is the exact opposite of the rather dull styling sometimes associated with Toyota today. Everywhere you look there are louvers, vents or curves to draw the eye. Check out the latest Petrolicious video for a detailed look at the history of this rare model that's largely unknown on this side of the Pacific.
