For sale-- 1986 MR2 black automatic (rare) with sunroof, rust-free. $4500 Original condition. Stock. Minor modification to exhaust for better tone. MR2s in this shape are destiny to be classics. Car drives precisely and feels like a giant go-cart. I love these first generation MR2. I've had six and now have an red 1989. See photo. The car has only 121k miles-- that's less than 5K miles per year. The exterior is an excellent condition. See photos. As I said, it is rare to find a rust-free, non-modified first generation MR2 like this one. I know, I have had several first generation with rust in the wheel wells and hinges on the engine bay, trunk and front storage area. Excellent interior condition. See photos. Black and white Recaro-style cloth seats only available for early model MR2s. No excessive wear; dash and door panels are near-perfect-- no cracks or sun damage. See photos. Brand new tires with excellent supercharger rims. Recent work done includes: new battery, new alternator, new timing belt, thermostat, water pump, new slightly modified muffler system, new hoses, new spark plug wires, new Kenwood stereo, and four brand new tires. A/C works well. Transmission is strong. All electronics work well. No power steering or power windows like the sports cars of old. The asking price reflects over $3000 recently invested. If you deduct that figure from the asking price, you're basically paying $1500 for the car itself. Those are repairs and upgrades you won't have to make when the car arrives. You won't even need tires either. Because of it's age, the car is being sold AS IS. This car will not last long on E-Bay in this condition and at the that price. Toyota will steer clear of driverless cars
Thu, 04 Sep 2014Toyota executives say the company's primary focus is on safety. At least for the time being, that means the company won't pursue development of a driverless car.
Speaking at the company's advanced safety seminar in Ypsilanti, MI, Thursday morning, Seigo Kuzumaki, Toyota's deputy chief safety technology officer, said that Toyota envisions a future driving environment that optimizes the best of both humans and computers, not choosing one over the other.

Toyota recalling 342k Tacomas due to faulty seatbelt pretensioners
Wed, 07 Aug 2013Toyota is voluntarily recalling 342,000 Tacoma Access Cab pickups, produced between 2004 and 2011. The wide-ranging recall is due to faults in the screws that attach the belt pre-tensioner to the belt retractor. There are concerns that the screws can loosen themselves over time, especially if the access door is opened and closed with too much force. It's important to note that the recall only covers the driver and front passenger seat, and is limited to just the Access Cab trucks. Other body styles aren't affected.
If the screws come loose, the pre-tensioner and retractor spring could separate from the belt entirely, which would be bad news in a crash. There's no mention of injuries or accidents due to the faulty pre-tensioners. Owners affected by the recall will be notified soon, and asked to come in for recall service.
Scion trying to build business case for FR-S convertible as Subaru bows out
Tue, 28 Jan 2014Hope may remain for a convertible version of the Scion FR-S, according to a report from Ward's Auto. You'll recall that rumors were swirling about the feasibility of a rear-drive Toyobaru convertible as early as October, and that back in November, Subaru - which makes the FR-S, Subaru BRZ and Toyota GT86 - essentially nixed the idea of an open-topped variant.
"We make the car, so if we don't make it, it can't happen," brand chief Yasuyuki Yoshinaga told Automotive News, according to Ward's, at the Tokyo Motor Show. "Our engineering department told me that losing the entire roof requires a complete redesign of the structure. It would need a big change."
Despite Yoshinaga-san's arguments against a droptop variant, Toyota is apparently still considering the model. Speaking to media at the 2014 North American International Auto Show, Scion's US vice president, Doug Murtha, hinted that the rear-drive droptop was in the works.
