1975 FJ40 Land Cruiser

This thing has been completely restored and is unstoppable!!

Almost everything on this vehicle is new or has been replaced in the past two years.  Work was done professionally and no corners cut on the restoration.

·       350 Chevy small block V-8 conversion with original Toyota tranny

·       New headers and exhaust system

·       Bucket seats in perfect condition

·       Full roll cage

·       New electronic ignition

·       New aluminum highrise with fuel injection

·       New Mickey Thompson Baja Claw 35x12.50R15LT tires with less than 1,000 miles on them.

·       Replaced master cylinder (brake pads still have a lot of life on them and work perfectly)

·       New Warn M8274-50 Winch; 8,000 lb., Roller Fairlead, 150 ft. cable, 12 ft. Wired Remote.

·       New fabricated steel bumper with brush guard

·       New oil pressure and temperature gauges

·       New radiator fan

·       New clutch

·       New water pump

·       New radiator

·       New oil pan

·       New driveshaft

·       New off-road gas shocks

·       New seals and gaskets from top to bottom (no leaks)

·       All new hoses and electrical wiring

·       Two-year-old paint job

·       Bikini top

·       Alarm system

·       High-quality canvas car cover

This FJ40 has absolutely NO rust on the underbelly.  There are only two very small rust spots, both of which are the size of quarters on the front fenders beneath turn signals (see photos).

Has been garage-kept or covered with high-quality car cover for the past two years

My plan was to take this FJ40 off road after the restoration was completed, but now two years later I don’t have the time to use it.  The hubs and 4x4 has been tested and works perfectly, but never actually used off-road.  The winch has never even been used!

No leaks!

This vehicle comes does not come with original hardtop or doors, but does come with a canvas bikini top.

I have no idea how many miles are on this vehicle, because it did not come with an odometer or speedometer and I never installed one.   A tachometer sits in the place of the speedometer.

This vehicle would make for great second vehicle or daily driver.

Toyota sizzle reel gives better look at i-Road Geneva concept

Tue, 26 Feb 2013

Toyota is taking the tiny tandem Tango to Tron town. In a teaser video for the new i-Road, debuting at the Geneva Motor Show next week, we catch a light-bike-like glimpse of Toyota's quirky tandem-seat concept. We still don't know much about the vehicle itself, but the video does flash the words "fun, compact, emissions-free," which suggests this is an electric ride. Then comes the apparent tagline: "i Roll, i Rock i Road." An indication that the tilting image we see in the video isn't just a special effect, perhaps? We'll have to wait until we get to Switzerland next week to find out. Until then, you can watch the video below.
In more earthly reveals, Toyota will also show off its hotly anticipate FT-86 Open sports car concept and Auris Touring Sports wagon on its Geneva show stand.

Toyota reveals new versions of FT-1 concept at Pebble Beach [w/video]

Thu, 14 Aug 2014

Toyota certainly caught our attention when it unveiled the FT-1 concept at the Detroit Auto Show last January. Coming from the same people who gave us the Lexus LFA, Scion FR-S and Toyota Supra, the FT-1 concept looked striking in its bright red livery. But the Japanese automaker isn't quite done with it yet.
No, we're afraid we don't have a production announcement to share at the moment, but Toyota has revealed two new versions of the FT-1 concept that cast it in different light. Most notable is the graphite version pictured above. Replacing the bright red paintjob and two-tone red and black interior of the original concept, this second iteration - presented in the metal at McCall's Motorworks Revival in Monterey, California - goes for a more upscale and refined graphite exterior and a tan leather interior with exposed metal elements.
Both versions of the virtually road-going FT-1 concept will be playable in GT6, but at the same time Toyota also revealed (in digital form, at least) a virtual racing version of the concept called the FT-1 Vision Gran Turismo. Looking like the original concept was prepared for Japan's Super GT series, the FT-1 Vision GT is retuned for racing, with wider fenders, more extreme aero, competition-spec alloys on slicks and the like.

Consumer Reports calls on Toyota to recall older Camry Hybrid models

Thu, 31 Jul 2014

Consumer Reports is calling on Toyota to issue an official recall of 178,000 Camry Hybrid sedans from model years 2007 to 2011, claiming that a pair of issues affecting the brakes are so dire they demand a more official action than what the company has undertaken so far.
The first issue, as CR tells it, relates to a clog in the brake-fluid reservoir filter, which if left untreated could lead to a number of dashboard warning lights. The "front brake assist could be temporarily lost," too, according to Toyota's own notice to dealers and owners of affected models. The company has issued a "service campaign" that will fit a new brake-fluid reservoir free of charge to any affected model brought to a dealer by June 30, 2017.
The other issue plaguing the fuel-sipping Camrys is being treated via a warranty extension, and focuses on the ABS brake actuator, a particularly expensive (both in terms of parts, at $1,000, and labor, around $3,000) item that is necessary for the anti-lock braking to function. There's also a related issue with the brake pedal's "stroke sensor," which like the actuator can lead to a very difficult-to-depress brake pedal. The warranty extension increases the coverage of the actuator to 10 years or 150,000 miles (whichever comes first).
