Palm Springs, California, United States
A 1968 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser that has been in storage for a few years. The previous owner began restoring this FJ several years ago and had rebuilt the original 6 cylinder engine prior to him getting too sick to continue. After inspecting the vehicle, it seems rust-free and this may be its original blue paint. Floors, frame and body are in great shape. The interior is clean and solid. The Land Cruiser starts right up and runs strong. The original drivetrain ,consisting of a manual 3 speed transmission on the floor including the 4-wheel drive system all work as it should. Has Rancho suspension installed along with a set of chrome wheels and 31 inch X 15 off-road tires in nice condition. Comes with soft doors and a bimini top. The FJ can be test driven but recommend the buyer inspect the vehicle thoroughly before attempting any distance driving, as it sat stored over a period of time. Odometer shows 74,000 miles but cannot confirm as actual. Have a clean California title in hand. Please call Larry or Freddie 866-403-7034 for more information
On Apr-15-14 at 16:21:05 PDT, seller added the following information: Please note:This Toyota FJ40 has been owned and driven in southern California. Due to our mild climate, we seldom need or use a vehicles' heater. Upon further inspection we discovered the vehicle is "HEATER DELETE" .This can be added of course,if needed by the buyer.. |

Toyota launches new Passo hatchback in Japan [w/video]
Fri, 18 Apr 2014With considerable manufacturing capacity here in the United States and even a NASCAR program, it'd be all too easy to categorize Toyota as an American automaker. Only it's not. It's Japanese, of course. And back in the Japanese Domestic Market, it offers a whole range of models we'll never see in North America. Models like the Crown sedan, Noah minivan and this, the new Passo hatchback.
Sold in various markets as the Daihatsu Boon, Daihatsu Sirion, Perodua Myvi and (for a time) the Subaru Justy, the Toyota Passo is a compact hatchback that slots in size-wise between the Yaris sold in America and the Aygo offered in Europe (except the Passo is taller than either).
Power comes from a 1.0-liter engine with 69 horsepower that can be had in front- or all-wheel drive, or a 1.3 driving 95 horses to the front wheels alone. A continuously variable transmission is on duty regardless of engine choice. Front-drive models get a stop/start system, but even all-wheel-drive versions are eligible for government tax credits. That's because, though the new Passo only appears to be mildly updated, the engines have been thoroughly reworked to deliver 30-percent better fuel economy than the previous model, coming in 20-percent better than the standards being enacted by the Japanese government for next year.
Toyota recalling 11,200 Scion iQ models over faulty passenger sensors
Wed, 07 Nov 2012Toyota has announced a voluntary recall of 11,200 Scion iQ models from the 2012 and 2013 model years. According to the manufacturer, the problem with these pint-sized hatchbacks concerns the front passenger Occupant Classification System (OCS) weight sensor cables.
The OCS sensors in the front passenger seat control the operation of things like the airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioner. In these affected models, the cables for these sensors located in the seat track can become damaged as the passenger seat slides forward and backward. And if the cables are damaged, the airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioner may not function properly.
No injuries or crashes have been reported in conjunction with this issue.
Ford Fusion production scaled back just 3 months after it was accelerated
Mon, 02 Dec 2013Three months after kicking off production of the Ford Fusion at its Flat Rock, MI factory, Ford Motor Company is taking steps to trim output in the face of heavily discounted competition from Toyota and a growing supply of vehicles.
The addition of Fusion production in Flat Rock - which also builds the Mustang - was meant to be what pushed the handsome mid-sizer past its arch-nemesis, the Toyota Camry. An extra facility building Fusions was also meant to curb the growing demand for Ford's highly profitable sedan.
But with word that Flat Rock would take "approximately" one extra week off for the holidays combined with an 88-day supply of Fusions - reportedly due in no small part to what Morgan Stanley analyst Adam Jonas called "aggressive discounting of the Camry" - some analysts are now beginning to wonder if Ford may have overextended itself by adding a second Fusion facility to the mix.
