The 2011 Toyota Land Cruiser is powered by a 5.7L V8 that makes 381 hp and 401 lb-feet of torque. The aluminum-block engine is similar to that used in the Tundra full-size pickup, and includes direct ignition, four valves per cylinder, variable valve timing and variable-length intakes-- it now runs on regular unleaded gas and meets ULEV-II emissions. The engine delivers power through a 6-speed automatic transmission with a flexible-lockup torque converter for smoothness. All Land Cruisers have full-time 4-wheel drive that includes a low range, limited-slip rear differential and a locking Torsen center differential.A body-on-frame layout assures more long-term durability for the Land Cruiser than unibody sport utility vehicles. In front, the suspension has a high-mount double-wishbone setup that is better for off-roading while not sacrificing on-road performance. In back there's a 4-link coil-spring arrangement with a stabilizer bar. To provide a good mix of off-road ability and crisp handling on-road, there's a Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System, which uses hydraulic cylinders to vary the suspension's stiffness as needed.The Land Cruiser's interior has three rows of seating, capable of holding up to eight. For ease of entry to the third row, the second row on the passenger side has a one-touch tumble feature, and the second row adjusts about four inches fore and aft.The Land Cruiser has ten air bags--the most in any Toyota vehicle--and all eight seating positions have 3-point seatbelts. Multi-terrain anti-lock brakes, with electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist, are standard, along with the VSC stability control system. Hill-start assist control is also included and helps keep the vehicle stationary when starting from a stop on a steep incline or slippery surface, as is downhill assist control, a feature designed to regulate a target speed down steep slopes while off-roading.There is also the feature called Crawl Control. With the transfer case shifted to the low range, Crawl Control controls the throttle and brakes to maintain one of three speed settings ranging up to about 5 mph, allowing the driver to focus on steering around obstacles.Throughout, the new Land Cruiser has more sound insulation to yield a much quieter interior. The climate system has a micro-dust and pollen filter, with four zones and 28 air vents throughout the cabin.The standard-features list on the Land Cruiser is surprisingly luxurious, including amenities such as a power moonroof, heated power seats, rear privacy glass, Smart Key keyless entry and steering-wheel-mounted audio controls. The audio system is a JBL Synthesis that includes in-dash 6-disc CD/DVD changer, MP3/WMA playback capability, 13 speakers, a subwoofer, Bluetooth, satellite radio and iPod connectivity.Major options include a DVD rear entertainment system, a back-up camera, second-row heated seats and a touch screen navigation system that offers satellite-based traffic information.

Italian coachbuilder wraps a modern-day Citroen van in a retro skin

Italian coachbuilder Caselani resurrected an obscure, often-forgotten model from Citroen's past to offer van buyers an additional retro-styled option. Called Type HG, it's based on the current-generation Citroen Jumpy. One of the French carmaker's best-known vintage vans is the Type H, which was built with only minor changes from 1947 to 1981. It's aged into a sought-after classic that's popular as a food truck and as a camper from Paris to Sydney. Few realize Citroen planned to release a smaller model named Type G which looked almost exactly like the H but used an air-cooled flat-twin engine shared with the 2CV. Several prototypes were made, but the project was canned in favor of the 2CV-based, nine-horsepower AU van released in 1951. It's this little-known prototype that only exists in Citroen's official heritage collection and in the minds of the most indoctrinated French car enthusiasts that Caselani chose to bring into the 21st century. And, because the Type G (shown below) was a shrunken copy of the Type H from a design standpoint, making a body kit that fits the Citroen Jumpy was relatively simple. Caselani liberally borrowed styling cues from its modern version of the Type H, which is based on the larger Citroen Jumper sold as the Ram ProMaster in the United States. It adds a new-look front end with a vertical grille, chromed chevrons, and round headlights positioned as far out of the body as regulations permit, corrugated body panels, and a redesigned rear end. Whitewall tires are optionally available. Caselani offers the Type HG as a passenger van, a crew-cab van, and a panel van. Pricing starts at 29,400 euros before taxes are factored in, a sum that represents about $35,000 and that corresponds to a short-wheelbase panel model powered by a 100-horsepower, four-cylinder turbodiesel engine. Alternatively, motorists who already own a Jumpy can purchase the transformation kit on its own for 14,800 euros (about $17,500). For added peace of mind, Caselani pointed out the conversion was created with Citroen's input, and the brand authorized the kit. We know what you're thinking: what on earth is a Jumpy? Glad you asked! It's a van positioned in the middle of Citroen's commercial range. It slots between the Berlingo, which competes in the same segment as the Ford Transit Connect, and the Jumper, which is marketed as an alternative to the Ford Transit.

On March 27, Turn 10 Studios, the folks behind the Forza Motorsport series, and Universal Pictures, the studio responsible for the Fast and Furious franchise, gave us a match made in heaven, announcing a "standalone expansion" featuring the two franchises. Called Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast and Furious, it features the cars from the latest film installment, unique missions and the voice-acting of Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, who plays tech guru Tej Parker on camera. A Fast and Furious video game? Seems like a no brainer. It gets better. Rather than limiting the Fast and Furious Edition cars to the expansion game, Turn 10 made them available through one of their (some may say notorious) downloadable content packages. Eight of the expansion's 11 cars were made available for just $4.99 (the only cars that weren't included were the Fast and Furious Edition Nissan GT-R, while the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport and McLaren P1 are already available in-game). What's cool ais that the cars featured in both games are visually identical to the vehicles driven by the stars of Furious 7. Each in-game car has an on-screen parallel that plays a role in advancing the film's story. Considering that we're unlikely to score seat time in Dominic Toretto's real Dodge Charger, then, we figured we'd take to the game and test the car in the digital realm. Furious 7 marks the fourth appearance of this Mopar beast in the series. Not surprisingly it's a handful to drive, wildly quick and with a four-speed transmission packed full of very tall gears. But beyond that, it's arguably the coolest of the FF Edition cars. This black beauty is exactly as it appears in the latest installment of the film, with the video game version featuring intricate little details, like the moving parts on the BDS supercharger. It's an iconic car, and it's treated as such in the game.

2015 Toyota Camry priced at $22,970*, Hybrid at $26,790*

We last saw the heavily revised 2015 Toyota Camry at the New York Auto Show earlier this year. Now, it's finally time for the best-selling car in the US to hit the roads in late September, and Toyota is announcing how much the updated model actually costs.
The basic Camry LE rings up for $22,970 (*not including a $825 delivery, processing and handling fee). That's up slightly from the base price of $22,425 for the 2014.5 LE, but the updated sedan has some 2,000 new parts, while also being 1.8 inches longer and boasting a 0.4-inch wider track. The rest of the trim levels include the SE for $23,840, sporty new XSE for $26,150 and XLE at $26,150. Opting for the V6 is the XSE and XLE bumps pricing to $31,370.
Separately, the Camry Hybrid gets its own LE, SE and XLE trims. The LE starts at $26,790 with a standard, power driver's seat and 4.2-inch information display. The SE for $27,995 gets an improved interior and the XLE at $29,980 has leather, heated front seats, LED running lights and more.
