Middletown, Connecticut, United States
LOW RESERVE AUCTION TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS DEAL!! 1 OWNER LAND CRUISER WITH LOW MILES!!! Youtube ENGINE VIDEO: http://youtu.be/vJXr1a3jydA Youtube RIDE ALONG VIDEO: http://youtu.be/vpvst-Rzz7w This is a carfax certified 1 Owner 2003 Toyota Land Cruiser with only 88k miles. The mileage may increase slightly over the next week of the auction as I drive a 20-30 mile commute daily. Original MSRP was over $60k on this truck with all options. This Land Cruiser is loaded with all of the standard amenities plus Navigation, Multi Function Display in dash, rear overhead DVD, ice cold a/c, heated leather seats, 3rd row removable seating, factory running boards, tow package and luggage rack. The truck shows average wear and tear with minor dings and scratches mostly on the plastic bumpers. The truck is mechanically perfect and drives like a well maintained Land Cruiser should. The only minor issues with the truck is the emergency brake does not work and the multi display screen sometimes does not function properly when using the touch screen. Some days the screen works perfect and others it will not. In the video I included of the ride along you'll notice it's working properly. (both very common issue on these trucks) The truck is priced accordingly with these flaws. Other than that the truck runs and drives perfect. Kelley Blue Book dealer retail is over $27k. We are asking less than private party value for this truck. The Reserve will be lifted well below KBB Trade In value. CT residence must pay 6.35% sales tax. Our dealer conveyance fee of $199 will be included in the winning bid. There are no hidden fees or costs with our dealership. Whoever the top bidder was just retracted almost $6k in bids after placing his/her bids 3 days ago. Bid retractions only confuse people and potentially ruin my auction that cost money to run. Judge halts Toyota unintended acceleration cases, triggers time for settlement negotiations
Mon, 16 Dec 2013So far, the lawsuits brought forth against Toyota for unintended acceleration have gone both ways: the automaker was found not at fault in a 2009 California crash and liable for a 2007 crash in Oklahoma. Both cases involved a Camry and resulted in fatalities. With a big chunk of these UA cases (around 200) set to his the docket of US District Judge James V. Selna in Santa Ana, California, Bloomberg is reporting that the judge has halted the lawsuits until March after Toyota and its lawyers have had extra time to try and settle the cases.
According to the article, Toyota is looking to take care of the cases out of court with an "intensive settlement process." Having already paid out $1.6 billion in "economic loss" suits, this latest settlement process is aimed at the wrongful death and personal injury cases allegedly associated with unintended acceleration. A hearing for the settlements will be held on January 14 with conferences on the matter commencing in February. There is no word as to when lawsuits may start back up if settlements can't be agreed upon.
Toyota reaffirms commitment to body-on-frame SUVs
Mon, 29 Jul 2013Toyota sold 121,055 Highlander CUVs in 2012, according to Automotive News. By comparison, it sold 78,457 examples of four different body-on-frame, truck-based SUVs (4Runner, FJ Cruiser, Sequoia and Land Cruiser). One could argue then, that the traditional SUVs aren't pulling their weight from a sales perspective. Yet that isn't stopping Toyota from reaffirming its commitment to a segment that has seen its former champions - Ford, General Motors and Chrysler - abandon it with alarming speed. Ford and GM still offer body-on frame utilities, but only in the very largest offerings, catering to seven or even eight passengers. Everything outside of the Expedition or Tahoe rides now on a unibody.
Toyota's decision to stick with the technology is good news if you're in the market for smaller SUVs that are still capable of heading well off the beaten path. Outside of the Jeep Wrangler, Grand Cherokee (a unibody) and perhaps Nissan Xterra, there's not much in terms of capable SUVs between $20,000 and $50,000. As the Toyota brand's US head, Bill Fay, says, "Clearly, the trend has shifted, but there is still an owner base that is interested in these vehicles."
We don't doubt Fay on that, but it may also be somewhat telling that Toyota's SUV lineup is aging, and we haven't seen or heard much about replacement models in the pipeline. Admittedly, the 4Runner (pictured) has been facelifted for 2014, but it's mostly cosmetic in nature. Despite Toyota's posturing, we still expect its body-on-frame lineup to thin in the coming years as sales dwindle and escalating fuel-economy standards make business cases even tougher. Here's hoping that Toyota manages to keep at least one rough-and-tumble SUV in its lineup in the coming years.
Audi investing $30.3 billion through 2018 for product expansion
Sun, 29 Dec 2013How does Audi plan to reach two million units in annual sales and pay for the 11 new models it's adding to its lineup - an expansion that may include models named SQ2, Q9 and F-Tron? By increasing its investment to 22 billion euros ($30.3 billion US) between now and 2018. That figure represents an increase of about 500 million euros over the previously planned outlay, according to a report by Automotive News, and that could be due to Audi wishing to goad the momentum that pushed it to 1.5 million annual sales two years ahead of schedule.
It's also about staving off the challenges from BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Now that BMW has been able to turn some of its attention away from its "i" series of Megacity cars, it will reportedly spend more than planned in 2014 as it continues the rollout of ten all-new vehicles and 15 new-generation vehicles through the end of next year. Mercedes, having been dropped to third in the sales race, is preparing to add 13 new cars over the next six years.
Audi's money is going into technology, into product like the next-generation TT and the Q1 and production expansions and upgrades all over the world. The expenditure represents just under a fourth of Volkswagen's 84.2 billion-euro ($115.7 US) outlay devoted to taking the number-one global automaker title away from General Motors and Toyota by 2018.
