Up for sale is my personal 1997 40th Anniversary #1139 Toyota Land Cruiser with 182,464 miles, this Land Cruiser is painted in the beautiful Dark Emerald Pearl. It was purchased brand new by my uncle here in New York and it has been garaged ever since(I have the original window sticker that comes with the Record Book that I created to keep all the records in it). It is in great condition both physically and mechanically and it comes with the legendary inline 6 engine as well as solid front axles. Oil changes have been done every 3,000 miles, and the radiator was flushed out, and replaced with new Antifreeze.
The interior is in great condition, very clean with no rips or tears, and comes with the two tone seats featured only for the 40th anniversary Land Cruisers. Over the period that I have owned this truck, I added a rear step with LED brake lights. Installed brand new factory Toyota Land Cruiser Running boards ( cost $1,700.00). Installed a dual cigarette lighter charger with 2 USB's in the center console, added Husky Liners to the driver and passenger seats, added Inno Roof Rack Pads to ensure no scratching of the rails, a sunroof wind deflector, and lastly a brand new Afe Air Filter. Buy this truck with 100% confidence, as this LC will go anywhere you want it to, very capable, great in any weather conditions, with no issues whatsoever. Recently in the past 2 months I had 4 brand new Pirelli Scorpion ATR 285/75/16 tires professionally installed including wheel alignment, and an almost like new Pirelli ATR spare tire mounted on the bottom of the truck, which has a weather proof spare tire cover on it to prevent any rust to the rim and the release mechanism. At the same time I had also installed 4 brand new Old man EMU shocks an OLD man EMU steering damper and Brand New OEM Toyota Brakes and rotors all around as well, that gave this Land Cruiser excellent handling, at the cost of $ 3200.00( Receipts are available along with the warranties and they will be given to the new owner as well). Third raw seats are also in great condition, and looks like no one has ever even sat in them. These classic FZJ80’s are getting tougher and very rare to find especially in this exceptional condition, and the limited production of the 40th Anniversary Edition. This is a 17 year old truck, and it has some very minor scratches on the bumpers, that are only visible at a close up. Shipping is fully up to the buyers responsibility, but I will be happy to assist you with your shipping arrangements. This truck is being " Sold-As-Is "and comes with no warranties written or implied. A $1,000.00 Non - Refundable deposit must be made within 48 hours after the auction has ended. |

Toyota fears supplier pressure in Australia with GM pull out
Wed, 11 Dec 2013With Ford and General Motors both announcing an end to production in Australia, the country's auto industry is in a bad way. With the exit of two big players, there's increased concern that a third Australian manufacturer, Toyota, will be forced out, as well.
"We are saddened to learn of GM Holden's decision. This will place unprecedented pressure on the local supplier network and our ability to build cars in Australia," Toyota Australia said in a statement. The GM closure of Holden production will be the direct end to 2,900 jobs, but will also force a dramatic reduction in the size of the country's supplier network, as there will simply be fewer cars to build.
In the same statement, Toyota Australia said it would work with suppliers and local government to figure out whether continuing production Down Under was even feasible. According to Automotive News, a representative for the Australian Manufacturing Workers' Union told reporters it was "highly likely" that Toyota would also close up shop within the next few years.
Autoblog's June 2019 Editors' Picks
Wed, Jul 10 2019Each year we review, test and rate hundreds of brand-new cars, trucks and SUVs. We rate these vehicles using the Autoblog score, giving a select few our Editors’ Pick. Here are the best cars we drove in June 2019. 2019 BMW 8 Series Everyone on the Autoblog staff loves a good grand tourer, so we were excited to get behind the wheel of the revived BMW 8 Series, specifically an M850i Coupe. A good GT needs to be as fast as it is stylish and comfortable, and the new 8 Series delivers. We particularly like the 523-horsepower twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8Â’s copious power and smooth ride quality, even on MichiganÂ’s pockmarked post-winter roads. We dig the interior design, too, though not everyone was in love with the exterior. ItÂ’s not the best-handling car in its class, and doesnÂ’t hide its sizable proportions very well, but itÂ’s still worth a look if youÂ’re looking for a big, fast cruiser. 2019 Ford Expedition Crossovers may be the hottest vehicles on the market, but thereÂ’s still a sizable demand for traditional body-on-frame SUVs like the Ford Expedition. These behemoths offer plenty of space in addition to truck-like capability. We like the Expedition's smooth ride, powerful twin-turbo V6 and sharp exterior design, though the interior can feel a bit cheap, especially on some of the more expensive trims. Adding options quickly puts it into Lincoln Navigator territory, and itÂ’s hard to recommend the Ford over the Lincoln when the latter packs the same capability into a far nicer package. Still, the Expedition is as good or better than the competition in most respects, and thatÂ’s why itÂ’s one of our picks. 2019 Toyota 86 Few cars at any price point are as much fun as the Toyota 86 (and its twin, the Subaru BRZ). We like the 86Â’s balanced chassis and sharp steering, and while itÂ’s not as nimble as its close rival the Mazda MX-5 Miata, the ToyotaÂ’s back seat and trunk make it a more usable vehicle. But while we like the 86Â’s driving position, the rest of the interior feels cheap and dated, especially the infotainment system. We complained about the anemic powertrain back in 2012, and itÂ’s only gotten worse as the years have gone by.
Automotive Grade Linux will be the backbone of your connected car
Fri, Jan 6 2017Creating a backend for a secure, reliable, and expandable infotainment system is costly and time consuming. The Linux Foundation, a non-profit organization, has set out to promote and advance the Linux operating system in commercial products. Automotive Grade Linux, or AGL, is a group within the Foundation that seeks to apply a Linux backend to a number of automotive applications in a variety of vehicles from various suppliers and manufacturers. AGL's goal is to create a common, unifying framework that allows developers and manufacturers to easily implement applications across platforms. Currently, the focus is on infotainment systems, but AGL has plans for instrument clusters, heads-up displays, and eventually active safety software. At CES, a display from Panasonic showed a completely digital and customizable dashboard that allows information and apps to be moved from the gauge cluster to the infotainment screen and back, all through the use of gesture and touch controls. Although the organization has been around for five years, it's really only been in the past three that the group has been working hand in hand with automakers and suppliers. The first two OEMs to participate, Toyota and Jaguar Land Rover, have since been joined by Mazda, Suzuki, Ford, and, as of this week, Daimler. The latter is important as until now most of AGL's partner's have been based in Japan or the US. Other partners include suppliers Denso, Renesas, Continental, Qualcomm, and Intel. AGL want's to supply roughly 80 percent of the backend, allowing partners to then finish and refine the Linux system for each individual application. Think of how the Android operating system is refined and customized for individual smartphones from Samsung, LG, and Motorola. While the final product looks different, developers can have an application that will work across all AGL systems. Because it is open source, anyone can use and develop for AGL. You can even go onto the group's website and download a copy right now. There is also a software development kit available that helps facilitate app creation on the platform. Vehicle development cycles take roughly five years, so there currently are no cars that run an AGL backbone available for consumers. AGL Executive Director Dan Cauchy says products should be hitting the market later this year, with even more coming in 2018. Right now, the industry is relatively fragmented when it comes to infotainment and related systems.
