Selling this 1990 Toyota FJ62 Land Cruiser.  This is an excellent example of a very well cared for Cruiser.  Absolutely no rust, paint is nice, interior is near perfect. Has a small Old Man Emu lift with newish 31 x 10.5 all terrain tires. Has a winch ready ARB front bumper and guard. Engine has just been gone thru mechanically - see below. The ONLY ding in the body is a very small quarter sized bump on a rear corner. Hardly noticeable. Even the paint on the roof is in excellent shape. Look at the attached gallery for a whole bunch of pictures. Very rarely do you see a FJ this clean and rust free that hasnt been completely restored. I drove it today and heads were turning all over the place. Wish I could keep it. Ask any question, and I am available to show most days.

Engine - 238k miles.  Runs very strong, all compression was excellent. Brand new sparkplugs, wires, cap, rotor, water pump, air filter, oil changed. Radiator newish - about 2 years old. Runs like a top.

Transmission was replaced with a rebuilt unit about 40k miles ago. Automatic.

Suspension - Brand new shocks all four corners less that 300 miles ago. Has I believe a 2.5 inch Old Man Emu lift. 31x10.5x r15 tires with excellent tread. Id say 80+%. Brand new steering stabilizer.

Brakes - New pads less than 300 miles ago. No squeaks, very smooth.

Interior - Excellent shape. Seats had seat covers on for most of the cars life. Upholstery is almost new. The ONLY tear is a small rip in the driver seat side panel. Could be repaired very cheaply. Everything else is perfect. No stains, no wear at all. Headliner is perfect and doesn't sag at all. Dash is perfect. Carpets are all very good, though in the pictures need to be vacuumed - has been done already. Sorry, it was getting late and wanted to get some pictures! All guages and buttons work.  Electric windows all work, though they are a bit slow. Go up and down fine, but motors are most likely getting weak. Have been that way for a while. All glass is perfect. Comes with 4 custom fit rubber floor mats (not pictured - straight black). Very heavy duty and great way to keep the carpet wear free.

All other questions - Just ask! Located in Charleston SC.

$1000.00 deposit due within 24 hours of auction end. I reserve the right to end auction early if sold locally.

This first-gen Toyota Celica is one mean mother

Tue, 09 Jul 2013

Brian Karasawa's gen-one Toyota Celica is, in a word, badass. As a long-standing fan of the marque, the doting owner has tried to both restore and improve his Celica keeping period-correct modifications in mind. The 20R/22R mashup engine is outputting roughly 185 horsepower and graced with a lot of JDM-specific parts and modifications. Clearly, the exhaust has been upgraded from stock, as clips of the orange Toyota in motion are accompanied by one hell of a nice sound.
Tastes clearly vary, and there's not as much love for the first-wave of Japanese metal as there is for similar era American-iron, but we're pleased to see these cars finally getting more time in the spotlight. Scroll down below to see why we're stoked, and consider cruising your local Craigslist for late 1970s and early 1980s Japanese coolness (before we get there first).

Toyota FT-1 hints at Supra, more aggressive hybrids

Mon, Jan 13 2014

Toyota showed off the new FT-1 performance concept at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show today, and the obvious story angle is that this is the new Supra. That's enough weight for most concept cars to carry, but then we thought about it a bit more - FT-1 stands for "Future Toyota 1," after all - and re-read the hints Toyota is dropping about how the FT-1 fits into the company's future. Put all the pieces together, and we think there's a chance Toyota's hybrid models are about to get a whole lot cooler. Technically, the FT-1 is an EV, but that's just because all it has for a powetrain is a small battery and motor to move it around on stage. This concept doesn't even have a proposed powertrain, but a production Supra could have any number of powerplants under the hood (V6, V8, hybrid and inline-six are all mentioned by Automotive News). We also like the big red start button on the steering wheel, which owes at least a little to the blue start button in the Prius. What we're more interested here is what this sleek red beast could do for the look of Toyota's hybrids. The FT-1 could change how Toyota designs cars in the future. To make the FT-1, Akio Toyoda, the president and CEO of Toyota Motor Corporation, apparently challenged Toyota's Calty Design Research team to create a car with passion and "a palpable heart-pounding sense of excitement." Instead of making design decisions "by consensus among a large group of stakeholders," the company says "the [design] approval process has been streamlined. This new approach aims to produce cars that connect more deeply with customers." There was a sense in Detroit today that the FT-1 heralds a change in how the company designs cars in the future. The FT-1 is apparently not the result of Toyota's hybrid supercar partnership with BMW, but we know that Toyota isn't a total stranger to a high-performance hybrid category, having built the TS030 hybrid Le Mans race car. For an on-road gas-electric from the company, though, we're much more used to the egg-shaped Prius. While Toyota has backed off a 2003 pledge to make every model a hybrid, it has said that it wants gas-electrics powertrains to proliferate throughout the line-up. And, if the FT-1 previews a new Toyota look, then at least some of those hybrids will benefit from some of the good looks on display in Detroit.

Mazda CX-5 named Japan's Car of The Year, Subaru BR-Z wins "Special Award"

Mon, 03 Dec 2012

The Mazda CX-5 stamped its Kodo design and SkyActiv technology authority all over the Japan Car of the Year awards, taking the top prize ahead of the Subaru BRZ/Toyota GT 86. It is Mazda's second victory in the last ten years, the 2005 MX-5 claiming the same trophy, and the fourth time the Hiroshima company has won.
The award is decided by 60 local "automotive experts and journalists," and open to any passenger car released in Japan from November 1, 2011 to October 31, 2012 that has sold more than 500 units. Each judge gets 25 votes, his or her top vote getting 10 points, the rest of the points being spread among the judge's choice for the next best four cars.
The second-place getters were the Toyobaru twins with 318 votes, the surprise being they didn't beat or get any closer to the crossover. The Subaru BRZ did claw some mojo back, earning the Special Award given to cars that have made "an exceptional impact." The BMW 3 Series was third overall and won the Import Car of the Year award with plenty of room between it and the second place Range Rover Evoque.
