Up for auction is my very original 1989 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ62. This is a very solid and very reliable 4x4 that is hard to find in this condition with this low of miles (170,500). The truck has all original drivetrain and runs and drives/shifts great. Paint is faded to a nice patina, but the body is very straight and would look brand new with a paint job or just drive it as is. These had fuel injection starting in 1988, which is a MAJOR plus over the FJ60s that came before. The FJ62 has been dealer maintained for much of its life and
I have a large stack of receipts for service done over the years. It was purchased new here in Denver. It has a really nice Kenwood stereo system
with iPod/iPhone/USB audio. It also
recently passed strict Colorado emissions testing and I have the certificate in
hand. Clear Colorado title in my name. A/C, heat, and 4WD work great. Transmission shifts perfectly with no
slipping. This is a vehicle that would make a great daily-driver or
weekend 4x4. It is solid as a rock and
should drive anywhere with no issues. Very little rust. The
only areas that I’ve noticed are small spots behind the front ds mud flap and
behind one rear ps mud flap. Frame is perfect
and most of the body is straight other than minor dings and dents from 25 years
of service. The chrome wheels have some
rust and could probably use a scrubbing. Areas that might need attention if you so desire: dash is
cracked, but I have included a plastic dash cap that will make it look new again. Passenger side window motor is broken, but I
have a new one from Toyota in the box and is included in sale. Antenna is non-operative, but I have a new
one ready to be installed included with sale.
Some tearing of vinyl on the seats, but I have a clean used set that can
be used for a restoration if needed.
Also included with sale. Has
slight oil drip like all Land Cruisers. Glass is great with no cracks, interior is much nicer than
average, great service history, great driver. Overall, this is a turnkey driver. Of course, she is 25 years old, so please
make sure you understand this prior to bidding.
The pictures probably make the FJ62 look better than it really is, so
don’t show up expecting something perfect.
I am a good communicator, so feel free to ask any questions or concerns
PRIOR to bidding. $ 500 deposit due within 24 hours from auction end and balance
to be paid in cash. |

Watch this video diary of a 900-hp Toyota Supra build
Sat, 08 Jun 2013If you've ever looked at a car with nearly 1,000 horsepower and wondered why anyone needs that amount of thrust, you may want to take a look at the video below. In it, one gentleman details his descent into Toyota Supra madness, starting with a pristine factory example and stumbling down the rabbit hole of modification. What makes this particular clip interesting is just how honest the owner is as he explains the evolution of his car. He doesn't just prattle off a list of parts like he's reading the menu at an IHOP.
Instead, he painstakingly pulls us through the car's growth, detailing each iteration and what pushed him to the next stage of the build every time. From this point of view, it looks less like someone walked into a shop and lit a massive stack of $100 bills on fire and more like a quasi-logical progression of events. Or at least it does to me. You can check out the build in the video below, complete with plenty of Fast and the Furious references and racing. Win, win, win.
177k Toyota Camry Hybrids being recalled for brake issue
Mon, 11 Aug 2014It looks like Consumer Reports might be getting part of what it wants regarding the Toyota Camry Hybrid and its braking system. Toyota is issuing what it calls a limited service campaign, rather than a full recall, covering about 177,500 of the hybrid sedans from the 2007 through 2011 model years because of an issue with the cars' brake fluid reservoirs.
The models have a filter separating two chambers of the brake fluid reservoir, and the part can get clogged over time. If this happens, the fluid level in one of the chambers can get too low and eventually cause the power assist to fail. There are multiple warning lights on the dashboard that illuminate over time if the filter gets obstructed, though. The company is replacing the entire reservoir with an improved unit, and the fix takes about two hours to perform.
Consumer Reports recently began asking for a recall on these models for the potentially clogged filters. The magazine also reported a second issue with the ABS brake actuator that could lead to a difficult to depress brake, but Toyota has increased the warranty on the part to 10 years or 150,000 miles.
