1988 Toyota Land Cruiser Base Sport Utility 4-door 4.0l (fj62) on 2040-cars
Lexington, Kentucky, United States
"The
body is very, very nice…it is in the top 10% of FJ 62 bodies!' David Dearborn,
Owner of Urban Land Cruisers & Land Rovers in Atlanta, GA.
The 1980s was a golden age of Japan's economy and the legendary Land Cruiser endured its own golden age during the 80s too. Now that time is undeniably, and lamentably, gone. The automobiles of yesteryear were stronger and had remarkably higher quality materials than anything manufactured today. A few years ago I plumbed the depths of the vintage Land Cruiser market and am proud to offer my personal symbol of this Golden Age – my beautifully restored 1988 FJ62. I have spent considerable time selecting parts and restoring much of this fine piece of craftsmanship. My philosophy on restoration included OEM parts and keeping as much of the truck original as possible. This included a substantial amount of handwork and elbow grease to bring back to luster in this automotive champion. In the end, I believe I achieved a near "factory-new" finish while maintaining the character that was imparted by years of use. This car is meant to be used and enjoyed. That may be a little over the top but this truck is awesome and I've enjoyed it more than anything - good luck to the winning bidder! Originally owned by a doctor in Seattle, Washington for 23 years and sold to a dealership in the area when a mutual friend purchased the cruiser to restore in Georgia. I am the third true owner. I purchased the vehicle after the restoration process became too costly and took over in 2012. I am selling now because I've had twin boys and it's not the ideal car for infants. I will gladly answer any questions via email or phone
(eight five nine – four two zero – five eight eight six). I made a commitment to keeping as much of the truck
original as possible. Where replacement
parts were best option I chose OEM except spark plugs where I use Bosch. Prior to restoring we paid for a thorough third party inspection of the truck. All seats were removed and carpet to ensure no hidden rust. I can provide that original report from Urban Land Cruisers, LLC to interested buyer. We discovered that there is NO RUST on the exterior or interior frame of the truck during this inspection. In addition, they found the car body to be in the top 10% of all FJ62s! Partial Restoration at Urban Land Cruisers in Atlanta, GA. Other work completed by Scheller Automotive in Lexington, KY and myself. Interior Upgrades
Exterior Upgrades
Engine and Operational Upgrades
Note: I may continue to work on the LC as it's something I love to do and genuinely care about its well-being. If there's something not mentioned above that concerns you please let me know. |

Carmakers ask Trump to revisit fuel efficiency rules
Mon, Feb 13 2017Car companies operating in the US are required to meet stringent fuel efficiency standards (a fleet average of 54.5MPG) through 2025, but they're hoping to loosen things now that President Trump is in town. Leaders from Fiat Chrysler, Ford, GM, Honda, Hyundai, Nissan, Toyota and VW have sent a letter to Trump asking him to rethink the Obama administration's choice to lock in efficiency guidelines for the next several years. The car makers want to revisit the midterm review for the 2025 commitment in hopes of loosening the demands. They claim that the tougher requirements raise costs, don't match public buying habits and will supposedly put "as many a million" jobs up in the air. The Trump administration hasn't specifically responded to the letter, although Environmental Protection Agency nominee Scott Pruitt had said he would return to the Obama-era decision. The automakers' argument doesn't entirely hold up. While the EPA did estimate that the US would fall short of efficiency goals due to a shift toward SUVs and trucks, the job claims are questionable. Why would making more fuel efficient vehicles necessarily cost jobs instead of pushing companies to do better? As it is, even a successful attempt to loosen guidelines may only have a limited effect. All of the brands mentioned here are pushing for greater mainstream adoption of electric vehicles within the next few years -- they may meet the Obama administration's expectations just by shifting more drivers away from gas power. Toyota will steer clear of driverless cars
Thu, 04 Sep 2014Toyota executives say the company's primary focus is on safety. At least for the time being, that means the company won't pursue development of a driverless car.
Speaking at the company's advanced safety seminar in Ypsilanti, MI, Thursday morning, Seigo Kuzumaki, Toyota's deputy chief safety technology officer, said that Toyota envisions a future driving environment that optimizes the best of both humans and computers, not choosing one over the other.
"Toyota's main objective is safety, so it will not be developing a driverless car." - Seigo Kuzumaki

With a top speed of 187 mph Bentyaga will be the fastest production SUV on the road when it hits the market. Eventually, Bentley intends to launch a seven-seat version, a higher performance Speed model, and more efficient diesel and hybrid variants of its new luxury SUV. Dawn is the new four seater convertible from Rolls-Royce. While the car looks to the past for its name it boasts lots of modern tech including Rolls-Royce's Zed F eight-speed automatic transmission for imperceptible gear changes and a silently operating, six layer, canvas top. The launch of Toyota's latest Prius marks the fourth generation of the popular hybrid. Prius has gone from a niche product to one of the industry's most important vehicles. Toyota hopes its new Prius will redefine the category it helped to pioneer. We're expecting fuel economy to increase by 10 percent and this is the most tech laden Prius ever.
