1984 Toyota FJ60 Land Cruiser with a clear title.

Original mileage 189,359

Purchased from the original owner, sold to my brother then I bought it back.

A non smoking vehicle since new

Has the original window sticker from Downey Toyota in Los Angeles, CA. California car since new.

Rugged, simple, reliable and fun.  Add to that room to spare and you may have the ultimate sport utility vehicle.  The Land Cruiser has always served to demonstrate Toyota’s engineering and design talents.  I think the FJ60 series was one of Toyota's finest vehicles.  Outdoor enthusiasts certainly admire this vehicle.  It’s a timeless design.

Vehicle has been well maintained and garaged since new. No Rust. Original paint is in very good condition. One small dent in the back bumper (see photo of the back bumper where the flag is) and a tiny one on the hood (so small I could not it to show up in the pictures). Engine does not burn any oil (recent smog check was clean).

Original owner added an extra leaf spring to the suspension (fair job), CD player (works well but a poor installation. No cutting to the dash), rear wind deflector, front grill guard, off road lights and the reflectors seen on the front doors cover 2 small holes from larger mirrors that he installed and then went back to stock mirrors.

Interior is original with the front seats covered since new (a small tear in the vinyl on the side of the drivers seat). Original headliner, paint and carpet is in very good condition. Includes original manual and service booklet, tool kit in bag, window sticker, spare. The rims are an original dealer option.

What has been replaced recently: Brand new stock size tires, rebuilt carb, belts, battery, starter, fuel pump, front brakes and rotors, brake and clutch master cylinders, rear pinion seal, front axle seals. Full tune up.

What it could use in the future: Vehicle has a small drip from the rear main seal, power steering pump has to be topped off sometimes, AC blows cool air (not ice cold) and could use a charge. 2 dash light bulbs are burned out. Other than these issues I can't think of anything else that needs to be done.

This has been my daily driver and I would not hesitate to get in and drive it anywhere. I will miss it and hope that I am doing the right thing by selling it. However, it is a 30 year old vehicle and should be looked at as such. Vehicle is sold as is and no warranty or representation is implied.

It is one of the nicer Land Cruisers I have seen and I get comments on it every time I drive it.

Please look at the photos and ask questions before you bid. Bidders with no feed back or under 18 years of age will be excluded unless they contact me first. If I was buying a vehicle, I would look at it before hand and you are welcome to do so. I welcome a buyers inspection. If you plan to have a buyer's inspection it must be done prior to auction end.

Buyer must pickup vehicle or arrange shipping at buyer's cost.

Lucky buyer will provide a deposit of $500.00 (non refundable)at end of auction and the remainder in cash, certified check or wire transfer directly to the bank. Title and vehicle will be held until full payment has cleared.

Toyota FCV Concept comes one step closer to reality

Wed, 20 Nov 2013

When Toyota first conceptualized a gasoline-electric hybrid vehicle for mainstream Americans to drive, the initial response was pretty skeptical. Still, through relentless engineering and solid product after solid product, Toyota has built the Prius brand into the dominant force in the hybrid car market.
Something like that plan of attack is what the Japanese company is preparing for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, as well, and that attack is seeing a critical salvo fired today with the debut of this FCV Concept at the Tokyo Motor Show.
Though there's nothing substantive to be said about rumors of a 300-mile range or a sticker price around $50,000, the FCV concept does offer a few technical details. The sharp-beaked concept makes use of two high-pressure hydrogen tanks and boasts a power output density of three kilowatts per liter.

Why Toyota's fuel cell play is one big green gamble

Mon, Feb 3 2014

Imagine going to the ballet on Saturday evening for an 8 pm performance. The orchestra begins warming up shortly before the show, but it turns out the star performer isn't ready at the appointed time. The orchestra keeps playing, doing its best to keep the audience engaged and, most importantly, in the building. It keeps this up until the star finally shows and is ready to dance ... which turns out to be ten years later. That's a Samuel Beckett play. It's also how many observers, analysts, alt-fuel fans and alt-fuel intenders feel about the arrival of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (FCVs) – the few of them who are still in the building, that is. Toyota's hydrogen development timeline rivals that of the US space program. In fact, within the halls of Toyota alone, research on FCVs has been going on for nearly 22 years, meaning that one company's development timeline for FCVs rivals that of the US space program – it was 1945 when Werner von Braun's team began re-assembling Germany's World War II V2 rockets and figuring out how to launch them into space and it wasn't until 1969 when a man set landing gear down on that sunlit lunar quarry. The development of the atom bomb only took half as long, and that's if we go all the way back to when Leo Szilard patented the mere idea of it, in 1934. Carmakers didn't give up on hydrogen in spite of the public having given up on carmakers ever making something of it, so there was a good chance that hydrogen criers announcing the mass-market adoption of periodic chart element number two one would eventually be right. Now is that time. And Toyota, not alone in researching FCVs but arguably having done the most to keep FCVs in the news, isn't even going to be first to market. That honor will go to Hyundai, surprising just about everyone at the LA Auto Show with news of a hydrogen fuel cell Tucson going on sale in the spring. The other bit of thunder stolen: while Toyota's talking about trying to get the price of its offering down to something between $50,000 and $100,000, Hyundai is pitching its date with the future at a lease price of $499 per month ($250 more than the lease price of a conventional Tucson), free hydrogen and maintenance, and availability at Enterprise Rent-A-Car if you just want to try it out. We've seen and driven Toyota's offering and we all know its success doesn't depend on cross-shopping, showroom dealing and lease sweeteners.

Volvo S90 Recharge, Lexus RX 350 and spring beer picks | Autoblog Podcast #679

Fri, May 21 2021

In this episode of the Autoblog Podcast, Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is joined by Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski. They start off discussing the Volvo S90 Recharge and wonder out loud why the brand's plug-in technology isn't also offered with a wagon body style. They then discuss the Lexus RX350 and why it's likely an ideal premium crossover for a large percentage of buyers. From there, Greg and Jeremy cover some recent news items, including the current state of BMW's coupes and rumors that Toyota's next Land Cruiser will lose its V8 engine in favor of a turbocharged V6. Then it's time to go over some of our current favorite spring beers before turning to the mailbag and spending some listener's money.
