1984 Toyota Fj 60 Land Cruiser on 2040-cars
Denton, Texas, United States
I am going on fifteen years of ownership of this REAL FJ, and something happened along the way - I got older, and it's harder to crawl around under and work on her! There is almost nothing stock about this vehicle. It has Chevy 350-TBI, 700R4-turbo transmission (warrantied rebuilt in December), rebuilt TCase (warrantied), complete Old Man Emu Leaf suspension (Medium) including new shocks all the way around, Bohannan Built bumpers (front with Warn 9500i winch) Rhino Lined, Bohannan Built running boards Rhino Lined, rear bumper with integrated receiver. Transmission cooler. Power steering cooler. K&N Cool air intake. 4 wheel disc brakes. Custom made roof rack powder coated - with quick release mounts. Full size spare roof rack mounted. Hi-Lift Jack roof rack mounted. Rear floodlight roof rack mounted. Extra brackets on roof rack for additional foglight mounting. Includes extension racks (above tire) for two full size kayaks or surfboards (up to 14'). Tuffy locking center console box with drink holders and stereo compartment. Corbeau bucket seats - very good condition. B&H Shifter (for auto trans) floor mounted. Hella 4000 fog lights. FJ62 aftermarket side view mirrors. Brand new grille and headlight doors - never mounted, in black aftermarket. Carpet replaced all the way through. Meats - BFG T/A KO 33x15x12.5 black side out on black rims. Stereo - Alpine front end > 100 watt amp > rockford speakers front only. Optima Yellow Battery. AutoMeter Phantom Water temp / Trans temp / Oil pressure gauges. WORK NEEDED- rust in typical locations above rear window (1) and above rear tire wells (both). Brakes need bleeding. Needs new inspection (will pass in Texas). The 350 block is probably mid to mid high mileage, but showing no compression issues. Tire kickers; don't bother, you'll break a toe. I am interested in intelligent offers for a limited time. I would suggest local purchase. No delivery. Read WORK NEEDED! This is not a mall purpose vehicle. It is a true off road four-wheel-drive that is legal to drive on road. |

Trump declaration they're a security threat stuns Japanese automakers
Tue, May 21 2019TOKYO — Japan's automakers' lobby said on Tuesday it was dismayed by President Donald Trump's declaration that some imported vehicles and parts posed a threat to U.S. national security, as the industry braces for a possible rise in U.S. tariffs. Trump made the unprecedented designation of foreign vehicles on Friday but delayed for up to six months a decision on whether to impose tariffs to allow for more time for trade talks with Japan and the European Union. "We are dismayed to hear a message suggesting that our long-time contributions of investment and employment in the United States are not welcomed," said Akio Toyoda, chairman of the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association. "As chairman, I am deeply saddened by this decision," Toyoda, president of Toyota, said in a statement. Trump has threatened to impose tariffs of up to 25% on imported cars made by foreign automakers, a move which automakers have argued would ramp up car prices, curb the global competitiveness of U.S.-made vehicles and limit investment in the country, the world's No. 2 auto market. The United States is a vital market for Toyota, Nissan, Honda and other Japanese car makers. Autos and components are among the Asian country's biggest export products. Most of Japan's major automakers operate plants in the United States. The Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association notes that its automakers build about 4 million vehicles a year in North America, or 75 percent of what it sells here. Many are built for export, helping lessen the U.S. trade deficit Trump is concerned about. Major automakers have announced a slew of investments in the United States since Trump took office in January 2017 and put pressure on the industry to create more U.S. jobs. For its part, Toyota has pledged to invest almost $13 billion in the United States between 2017 and 2021 to boost manufacturing capacity and jobs. This includes $1.6 billion for a vehicle assembly plant in Alabama jointly run with Mazda. Government/Legal Honda Mazda Mitsubishi Nissan Toyota Trump
Toyota FCV Concept comes one step closer to reality
Wed, 20 Nov 2013When Toyota first conceptualized a gasoline-electric hybrid vehicle for mainstream Americans to drive, the initial response was pretty skeptical. Still, through relentless engineering and solid product after solid product, Toyota has built the Prius brand into the dominant force in the hybrid car market.
Something like that plan of attack is what the Japanese company is preparing for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, as well, and that attack is seeing a critical salvo fired today with the debut of this FCV Concept at the Tokyo Motor Show.
Though there's nothing substantive to be said about rumors of a 300-mile range or a sticker price around $50,000, the FCV concept does offer a few technical details. The sharp-beaked concept makes use of two high-pressure hydrogen tanks and boasts a power output density of three kilowatts per liter.
2013 Pikes Peak Hill Climb, Practice Day 4
Fri, 28 Jun 2013The fourth and final practice day of the 91st Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is complete. Tomorrow everyone will make any last-minute adjustments and get their cars, their bits and bobs lined up in the pits for Sunday morning's this-time-it-counts run.
The Unlimited runners took on the top section of the course today, Sébastien Loeb and his big-mouth Peugeot acing the practice test again with a time of 2:11. Rhys Millen's team proved its got the engine issues of two days ago in the Hyundai PM580T sorted out, posting the next-best time at 2:27.16. The reason we had to dip all the way into the hundredths for his time is because he nipped Romain Dumas by just .31 of them, the Frenchman in the Norma M20FC PP running the course in 2:27.47. In fourth came the Frenchman in the monster Mini, Jean-Philippe Dayraut six seconds back at 2:33.
Time Attack competitors, also on the upper section, were led by Paul Dallenbach in the Hyundai Genesis Coupe with a time of 2:36, Porsche pilot Jeff Zwart crossing the line six seconds later at 2:42, fellow Porsche driver David Donner coming in another six seconds back at 2:48. Dallenbach has topped three of the four practice-day sessions, sliding into the second spot behind Donner only on Practice Day 2.
