1982 Toyota Land Cruiser on 2040-cars
San Diego, California, United States
More infos regarding my car at: lashawndalssullens@ukhair.net .
This is a frame off restoration of a US spec 1982 Fj40 Land Cruiser.
It has only 125,000 miles on original 2F with all emissions equipment intact. Passed CA SMOG with flying colors.
Very strong running original 2F. Just tuned-up with new plugs, cap/rotor, and rebuilt carburetor. It is equipped
with factory power steering and front disc brakes.
Late model FJ40 (8/1980 and newer) uses the upgraded 4-speed and "split-case" from an FJ60. Much stronger and
quieter. There are no official numbers of fj40 brought to US market in 1982. It's been said that between
1,000-1,500 were actually brought to market here. Only around 300 1983 Fj40's were brought to US market in 1983.
Making this 1982 FJ40 rare in there own right being one of the last full production year.
Being a “un cut” CA fj40 it had minimal rust prior to restoration. Tub, body parts, frame amid undercarriage
components were media blasted. Tub & body parts were etch primed. Frame and undercarriage components (excluding
axles) were powder coated satin black. A new driver floor pan and rear sill panel were replaced. Passenger side
ambulance door received new bottom sheet metal. The body was repeatedly blocked and sanded to perfection. The
fj40 was color changed to a factor color "rustic green" code 621. Sprayed as a 2 stage (color & clear coat)
Every part on or under this land cruiser was meticulously sanded and painted, powder coated or ceramic coated. The
land cruiser was put together with new and/ or OEM stainless or zinc plated hardware All weather striping rubber &
felt is OEM Toyota new. Seats were reupholstered. Tuffy center console was installed. Has a Alpine head unit.
Has 5 new 33x10.5 BFG All Terrain tires on original steel wheels. Wheels were painted same white as roof cap &
bezel. Wheels were pinstriped with matching rustic green paint.
Old Man Emu suspension (springs and shocks) were installed.
New Catalytic converter and exhaust system was installed.
This is a beautiful restoration with no expense spared.

2014 Toyota Corolla shows just enough to keep us interested
Tue, 21 May 2013To date, the best idea we have of what the 2014 Toyota Corolla will look like is the shape and styling of the Furia Concept from this year's Detroit Auto Show. Obviously the compact car will turn down the wick a fair bit from that orange machine, and now we have one more scintilla of an idea of what the final product will look like.
Published today on Toyota's official Facebook page, the image above clearly shows the rear quarter of the 2014 Corolla S. Though the low angle is pretty wonky, we can make out that the shape of the taillight cluster is very similar to that of the Furia, albeit without the same LED treatment, A hint of a trunk-lid spoiler is also in evidence, and also follows the Furia's lead.
Toyota points out that the new Corolla will be shown in earnest on June 6. Expect to see the full version of the car by that date at the latest - online leaks have a tendancy to speed these things up.
Subaru Viziv 2 presages Tribeca replacement with diesel hybrid tech
Mon, 31 Mar 2014Subaru is in the middle of a new product bonanza. It has recent replacements for the Impreza and Forester at dealers, and soon we're getting the WRX, Legacy and if rumors are right the new Outback as well. Now, there are rumblings that there could be two more models from the Japanese brand on the way with styling inspired by the Viziv 2 concept from the Geneva Motor Show.
According to a company insider speaking with Motor Trend, the crossover concept shows the way for the brand's future design language. The shape would be used on a smaller CUV that is still being kept quite secret, and a second, larger one that would replace the recently axed Tribeca. The bigger model is the first priority and is planned as a new technology showcase.
It's rumored to use a turbodiesel, four-cylinder boxer engine that would be boosted with one electric motor on the front axle and two at the rear, with a plug-in hybrid system sourced from Toyota. It should provide a great mix of torque and fuel economy. A smaller flat-six engine would be a second powertrain option. Though the Viziv 2 concept only seats four, the production version would probably offer three rows.
Toyota mulling Cummins diesel for Tundra?
Mon, 02 Sep 2013When Bloomberg spoke to Toyota USA Sales CEO Kazua Ohara recently, we highlighted his comments on the possible return of the Toyota Supra. However, the interview started with Ohara discussing the Tundra, and how it would take time to pinpoint and hone the pickup truck's brand image in the minds of consumers. That effort could get a boost, with a report in Edmunds saying that Toyota is "evaluating" the addition of a Cummins turbodiesel to the Tundra's engine options.
The Cummins powerplant is one of two options for the moment, the other being a hybrid powertrain. If the oil-burner got the thumbs-up, Toyota would follow the recent example of Nissan, which announced it would put a Cummins turbodiesel into its 2015 Titan. While the two Japanese companies make a closer comparison since they're both talking about Cummins applications in light-duty trucks, if it happens, it could be seen as further diluting the once-exclusive tie-up that Ram trucks has had with Cummins even though Ram has used Cummins in its heavy-duty truck.
Toyota hasn't said when it will decide on which direction to take, but either will be a move for the better in the view of segment watchers; PickupTrucks.com said the first of its top-five fixes for the Tundra would be a better engine, perhaps a diesel-electric hybrid from Toyota's Hino unit. Cummins told Edmunds it can supply a second manufacturer with the 5.0-liter diesel that Nissan will be using, so we wouldn't be surprised to see it end up in a Toyota or somewhere else.
