1978 Toyota Land Cruiser Bj40 Fj40 - Diesel Engine, Excellent Restoration!!!!!!! on 2040-cars
Kissimmee, Florida, United States
Description: You are looking at a beautiful 1978 Toyota Land Cruiser BJ40 Diesel that has been excellently restored to original quality. It is orange and has had a recent exterior paint job with newly upholstered interior. This BJ40 comes with the original three (3) person front seats and the larger rear two (2) person jump seats for a total passenger capacity of seven (7) people. This BJ40 comes with new tires and original style rims, and halogen headlamps. Installed on each bumper are the oem bumper rubber knobs and rear Toyota mud flaps. It comes with full size rear mounted spare tire with matching rim and an original roof rack and ladder that is extremely rare and very hard to find. This BJ40 has the upgraded 3B Series 3500cc Toyota 4 cylinder diesel Inline engine. The underbody is in excellent shape and the suspension has been maintained to original standard and it stable and true at any cruising speed. There is no rust on this vehicle and all panels have been upgraded with higher gage metal using the original Toyota factory molds which are still in use in CR! This BJ40 is originally from Costa Rica and was restored in Costa Rica where FJ/HJ45s and FJ/BJ40s are common and plentiful, although not in this excellent condition. It currently sits at my home in Costa Rica and will be headed to Miami, via shipping container, shortly after the end of the auction to be completely processed and imported pursuant to EPA and DOT regulations (exempt due to 25+ years old). The BJ40 will be registered in Florida and the winning bidder will receive a clean Florida title when the transaction is completed. I travel on an average of once a month to Costa Rica to scout for restoration candidates and have them either restored to original condition (20 footers), or have the 40s/45s restored (frame-off) to better than original condition and in showroom quality when the right candidate is found (perfect at any distance). This BJ40 is in excellent shape and a real head turner! This is not the FJ40 (gasoline) but rather the BJ40 (diesel) and is very rare in the US in any condition and very hard to find in this condition! Bid with confidence! We have 100% feedback and you will not be disappointed. This BJ40 represents and excellent investment and value at the offering price given its condition and installed upgrades! Since eBay will only let me place a maximum of 24 pictures on the listing, I have included a link below to our Flickr account where you can see even more high-resolution pictures of this awesome BJ40. I have other FJ/BJ/HJ 40/45 trucks for sale that you can also see, which are in very nice, original, and/or frame-off restoration quality. I also have an impeccable FJ40 that has also undergone a complete frame-off restoration with every bolt and component removed, and that one is priced in the high 40s and worth every penny and is by far the nicest FJ40 anywhere and also in true collector's museum quality condition. http://www.flickr.com/vintagecruisers/sets Just one look at the high resolution pictures of this BJ40 and you will see the high standard by which this BJ40 has been maintained! If this one, or any of the other ones I currently have for sale are not to your liking, I can have one custom made for you to any level of quality and budget you desire. How Charlotte lost to Plano without even knowing it was dealing with Toyota
Thu, 08 May 2014With Toyota set to relocate its North American headquarters to the Dallas, TX suburb of Plano following a top-secret, 100-city search, the cities that missed out can now begin asking themselves what happened during a process they apparently knew little about.
That's a particularly brutal task for Charlotte, which, according to North Carolina's Secretary of Commerce, Sharon Decker, finished second to Plano. While Toyota has been fairly open about what it was looking for in a new headquarters city - direct flights to Japan, proximity to its US production facilities, a lower cost of living, high-quality educational facilities and finding a neutral site suitable to the California, Kentucky and New York-based employees that would be relocated - it's been less open about how the finalist cities, which also included Atlanta and Denver, stacked up against each other.
The Charlotte Observer has a few ideas. Part of the problem is the distinct lack of direct flights between Charlotte and Asia. US Airways, which operates a hub at Charlotte/Douglas International Airport, doesn't fly to Asia.
Toyota turning landfill gas into hybrid vehicles, indirectly
Fri, Mar 28 2014Chamillionaire certainly wasn't referring to the Toyota Avalon or Camry when he rapped about "ridin' dirty" but maybe he'll change his tune soon. That's because some of the future energy sources for the Kentucky factory that makes those two models will come from gas created from the breakdown of solid waste. So the power behind some of the production at Toyota's largest North American factory will indeed be funky. Toyota is working with Waste Services of the Bluegrass to build a network of wells at a nearby landfill in order to collect the gases. Construction of the system starts next month and will be finished by early next year. The upshot is that the system will produce one megawatt of electricity per hour, which is the equivalent to the power used by 800 houses. Last spring, Toyota said it would start producing the Lexus ES at the Kentucky plant after getting almost a $150 million offer from the state. That's because that model is expected to add 50,000 vehicles to the existing production numbers at the plant. And those production numbers are already large, as Toyota makes both the standard and hybrid versions of both the Camry and Avalon there. Mind you, Toyota's not the first to go this route for factory-energy production. In 2011, General Motors' Orion Assembly Plant started getting about 40 percent of its energy for production of models such as the Chevy Sonic and Buick Verano from methane captured from a landfill nearby. The General estimated at the time that the process would cut the company's energy costs by about $1.1 million a year. Check out Toyota's press release about the Kentucky plant and its future landfill gas below. Landfill Gas to Build Cars and a Greener Community Partnership between Toyota and local landfill turns garbage into good March 24, 2014 GEORGETOWN, Ky. (MARCH, 24 2014) – Can a car company be a vehicle for change? Toyota thinks so. The Kentucky plant that manufactures some of the greenest cars on the road, including two hybrid models, will soon be powered in part by green electricity. Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, Inc. has teamed up with Waste Services of the Bluegrass to generate power from local landfill waste, marking the region's first business to business landfill gas to energy initiative. Toyota estimates the locally-generated landfill gas will supply enough power each year for the production of 10,000 vehicles. How it Works As solid waste naturally breaks down in a landfill, it creates gas.
2015 will be the biggest year ever for cars at CES
Fri, Jan 2 2015Like the SEMA Show, major automakers are paying increasing attention to the CES, with 2015 expected to be one of the most auto focused yet. Ford, Volkswagen, Toyota, General Motors, Hyundai, Mazda, Audi, BMW and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will all be in attendance when CES 2015 kicks off next week, taking up a record-breaking 165,000 square feet of space at the Las Vegas Convention Center. "We've come a long way from a single car on a carpet," Ford's Alan Hall told Bloomberg. Unlike SEMA, or a more traditional auto show, like the upcoming festivities in Detroit, CES doesn't necessarily focus on entire cars or the way they perform, but on the way our technology will interact with vehicles, and in how those vehicles will deliver information to drivers. "CES has become a major launch point for a lot of the big automakers," IHS tech analyst Mark Boyadjis told Bloomberg. "CES is a way for them to get on a global stage for technology." As for what kind of wares automakers will trot out in Las Vegas, we already know that BMW will show off an autonomous i3 electric car that can navigate its way through a multistory car park and can be hailed via a smartwatch app. According to Bloomberg, Hyundai will show off its own smartwatch app for the Genesis sedan, while Audi and Mercedes-Benz will show off autonomous vehicles next week. Automakers won't be the only companies looking to capitalize on CES. Tech firms, like chipmaker Nvidia, are becoming increasingly involved in the automotive game and will be in town showing their wares off to OEMs. "Two years ago, our booth would have been filled with PCs and people playing video games," Danny Shapiro, Nvidia's senior director for automotive business, told Bloomberg. "This year we made a strategic decision to shift the focus of the booth on automotive and de-prioritize some of the other things." Needless to say, you can expect to see a lot of news out of Las Vegas come next week. Stay tuned.
